Tours: Hot Water Music SXSW appearance planned

Details on Hot Water Music‘s reunion plans are still slowly being revealed. It now appears that the band will appear at the South By Southwest music festival in Austin, TX this coming March. The confirmed tour dates so far include support bands like Lucero, The Lawrence Arms, Static Radio NJ, HiFi Handgrenades, Able Baker Fox, Samiam and Cutman.

The band is touring in support of their upcoming compilation Til The Wheels Fall Off, due out January 22, 2008.

Tours: More Hot Water Music shows being confirmed, SXSW appearance planned

Hot Water Music is starting to unveil more reunion shows. The band will appear in their hometown of Gainesville, FL on January 18th, at another city to be announced on January 26th, and at the South By Southwest music festival in Austin, TX this coming March. The confirmed tour dates so far include support bands like Lucero, The Lawrence Arms, Static Radio NJ, HiFi Handgrenades, Able Baker Fox, Samiam and Cutman.

40Engine (Stephen Egerton and Scott Reynolds of ALL) post new music

Descendents / ALL guitar player Stephen Egerton and former ALL vocalist Scott Reynolds (also of Goodbye Harry and the Pavers among others) have a new collaborative project called 40Engine. The band has the song “Sunny Disposition” online at their MySpace page and the rough mix of a new track titled “She Has Everything” online at Stephen’s page.

Another of Reynolds’ bands, Scott Reynolds and the Steaming Beast, recently signed with Suburban Home and are planning a release titled Adventure Boy for release on January 22nd.

X3: Reunion Update Released

Updates to X3: Reunion have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:

X3: Reunion

  • Added UPLINK facility to export your game statistics to a file which can then be uplinked to the Egosoft.com servers for display and comparison
  • Added the long awaited Mission Director (MD) mission development tool
  • Fixes and improvements to Script Editor commands
  • Corrected some general game issues

Rivalry Records Showcase 2008 details announced

Rivalry Records have announced the lineup for the Rivalry Records Showcase 2008, taking place Friday, February 29th and Saturday, March 1st in Berkeley, CA at the famous 924 Gilman St venue. Appearing on the evening of Leap Day will be Allegiance (their last show ever), Verse, The First Step, Internal Affairs, Trash Talk and Red Handed.

The March 1st show will feature Ceremony, a special reunion set from Betrayed, Killing The Dream, Soul Control, Another Breath and Get The Most.

Tickets for both shows will be $10 for each day, and are only available at the door (no pre-sale tickets will be sold) and doors for both dates will open at 7:00pm with the shows starting at 8:00pm. The label plans to film the shows for an future DVD, and plans to have DVD’s from the 2007 Rivalry Showcase for sale at the shows.

Updates to X2: The Threat have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:

Shacknews Game of the Year User Voting

Happy 2008! Hopefully everybody had a safe and enjoyable holiday break and is now ready to go back to Stroggifying and deploying MCPs!

Kicking 2008 off in the world of Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars is the Game of the Year user voting on Shacknews, where you can vote for your favorite games and development studio of 2007. ETQW is up in several categories, including Game of the Year and Shooter of the Year, and can even be submitted manually in categories that it isn’t. Don’t forget that you can also submit Splash Damage as your developer of the year if you feel we’re deserving of that award.

In other Game of the Year news, Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars has officially been confirmed as VoodooExtreme’s FPS of the Year – an award that was also based on user voting. Go ETQW!

Vietnam Werewolf, The Scars, Karrigan

Cleveland punk act Vietnam Werewolf have posted two tracks from their upcoming debut full-length, Ohio’s City, on their Los Diaper, will release the vinyl version later in 2008. The band, who recently added new bassist Tim Gill, of fellow Cleveland punk act Echoes of Harper’s Ferry, also have a cassette-only release lined up with here.

Boston punk group The Scars have announced details for their upcoming album, scheduled for release on March 4, 2008. The album was recorded with Jim Siegel at the Outpost in Stoughton, MA. The album will be available in local stores, and online through Interpunk.com and other major download sources. You can check out some music and find information on upcoming shows on their MySpace page.

Orlando, FL-based Karrigan is currently up in Woodstock, NY recording their debut EP with Mike Birnbaum and Chris Bittner (Coheed and Cambria, Straylight Run, The Sleeping, Four Letter Lie) They will be recording daily news blogs and posting them online.
