Life’s Great Tragedy, Rat City Riot, The Mean Jeans

Glendora, California’s Lifes Great Tragedy has posted two new tracks online from their recent EP The Spectre. You can find the songs over at MySpace.

San Diego’s Rat City Riot have a new album on the way on September 13th. The band will celebrate with a show at the Che Cafe in La Jolla, featuring Northern Towns and Dead City Dregs. The record will be release din Europe by People Like You Records.

Portland, Ontario’s The Mean Jeans have a new video online for the song “Stoned 2 The Bone.” You can check it out on YouTube. The band will release a 7″ soon via Dirtnap affiliated Green Nose Records.

While we’re not encouraging people to send us want ads we do have word that a fairly established US band (who wishes to remain quasi-anonymous) is looking for a new drummer and second guitarist / back up vocalist. The band is getting ready to hit the road in October and is looking to fill those spots as soon as possible. The group’s been around since 2002 and has performed with bands like Midtown, the Movie Life and A Static Lullaby among others. You can find contact info and more on the band at CraigsList.

Motörhead and the Misfits sharing the stage on the Volcom 2008 Tour

Tomorrow the Volcom 2008 Tour will kick of in Anaheim, CA, headlined by legendary British heavy metal act Motörhead and featuring the likes of Valient Thorr and Year Long Disaster. On the 4th in Las Vegas the tour will also pick up the The Misfits. The trek will mark the first time in the many years between them that Motörhead and the Misfits will have played together in the United States. The Misfits these days are of course bassist Jerry Only backed by former Black Flag members Dez Cadena and Robo. The tour will wrap up in Asbury Park, NJ on September 21st.

We Versus the Shark: “Regrets”

We Versus the Shark have posted the latest in their series of cover songs. This time out they’re daking on “Regrets” by Ben Folds Five. You can find it at Quote Unquote’s Records.

The bands new album of cover songs it titled Murmurmur. Over the past months the band has released their versions of tracks by Scratch Acid, Tom Waits, Television, Pattern is Movement and The Matt Kurz One among others.

Bayside detail “Shudder”

Long Island’s Bayside recently released the track listing to their upcoming album Shudder, set for release on September 30th via Victory Records. Produced by David Schiffman (Weezer, Jimmy Eat World, Johnny Cash), it is the follow-up to 2007’s The Walking Wounded. The album art can be found here.

The band will support with the Involuntary Movement Tour, featuring the Matches, Valencia and the Stats. We posted the dates earlier.

Tom Waits full show streaming online

Tom WaitsPomona, CA’s Tom Waits has received the streaming treatment for the last stop of his Glitter and Doom tour from National Public Radio. Documented on July 5th, 2008 in Atlanta, GA, the entire show is up and streaming in an official podcast. The podcast is sure to rival the greatness of the interview Waits gave himself at the beginning of press releases for this tour.

Tours: Wire (US / Canada)

Post punk pioneers Wire have announced October tour dates in North America. The band will kick things off in Montreal on October 10th, with a routing that will see them on both coasts from New York to Los Angeles, wrapping up in Chicago on the 18th.

The band is supporting their 11th studio album (and 47th release overall) titled Object 47. The track “One Of Us” is available to dowload at the band’s website.

Strange Corner, Los Di Maggios vs. Teenage Gluesniffers, Ask The Ice

Bordeaux, France’s Los Di Maggios and Milano, Italy’s Teenage Gluesniffers have released a new split 7″. The record, which features two new songs from each band, is being released by a number of labels across the world, including Knowhere Records (USA), Making Believe Records (Italy), Virtual Loser Records (Italy), No Breaks Records (USA), Waterslide Records (Japan) and Rockin Days Webzine (Italy). After three years of delays due to difficulties in finding a label, Italian hardcore band Strange Corner has finally signed with England’s Casket Music to released their new album, Human Society.

Charles Young and Brendan Dickhaut, the songwriting team from Orange Island have returned with a new project titled Ask The Ice. The two piece features Dickhaut on gitars and vocals with Young on drums and songwriting. You can find music online at MySpace.
