New York Dolls announce “Cause I Sez So”

Legendary proto-punks New York Dolls have announced the release of their next full length. The record is titled Cause I Sez So and is due out May 5, 2009. It is the follow up to 2006’s One Day It Will Please Us to Remember Even This.

The album features 11 new songs and a new version of “Trash”, which was on the band’s 1973 debut album. “It was amazing working with Todd again, and I think we were able to evoke the special sound of our first album and drag it by the hair into the present,” says frontman David Johansen.

Prior to the album’s release, the band will appear at South By Southwest.

Look Mexico launches writing/recording blog

Look Mexico have begun work on their forthcoming full length and follow up to This Is Animal Music. The band has launched a blog with music, commentary and footage:

Prior to our move, we had already started working on the first track of what we hope will be a batch of about twelve songs, ten ultimately making it to the next LP. It’s the track “Just Like Old Times,” and you can see an early rendition of it here, documented by the folks at Bionic Ear in Orange County, California. Since that recording, we’ve made some serious instrumental additions and changes, and really spruced the song up. We’ll be playing “Just Like Old Times,” out on our next tour.

Check out the blog here.
