Vice documents Groezrock Festival

VBS.tv has posted a documentary covering the 2010 Groezrock Festival. The documentary was shot by Vice UK’s James Knight and answers some of the following questions:

If you want to know why Agnostic Front’s Vinnie Stigma likes wearing wooden clogs around his New York apartment, what Pamela Anderson has to do with why Sum 41’s Derrick Whibly is bummed at the guys from Lit and the inside scoop on Pennywise’s new line up then you’re only going to find out about it right here.

On top of finding out what makes the average Belgian punk festival go-er tick, blagging our way on to tour busses to plunder bands riders and interviewing everyone from Rise & Fall to The Mighty Mighty Bosstones we also got a bunch of exclusive live footage of Bad Religion, Pennywise, The Bronx, Agnostic Front, Glassjaw and a cast of thousands.

Check out here.

Greg Graffin interviewed by the Scientific American

Greg Graffin Greg Graffin was interviewed by the Scientific American in support of his new book Anarchy Evolution: Faith, Science and Bad Religion in a World without God, in which he discusses Darwin, science in music, and evolution. Of note is Graffin’s comments about how punk and evolution are related:

The idea with both is that you challenge authority, you challenge the dogma. It’s a process of collective discovery. It’s debate, it’s experimentation, and it’s verification of claims that might be false. Darwin may have been [a] kind of contemplative and pensive anti-authoritarian.

It’s a similar feeling from being in a community of punk rockers as a teenager and the feeling I still get today when I’m in a community of skeptical scientists. The idea with both is that you challenge authority, you challenge the dogma. You challenge the doctrine in order to make progress.
