Posted on the Punkbusters website today:
Version 1.084 of the PB Client for BFV has been released to our PB Master Servers for auto-update and to our website download page.
Release Notes for PB Client v1.084:
– includes a new setting called pb_netport that can be used as a workaround for players who get “Disconnected from server” after PB sends Master Query Packets; the default value for this setting is 0 which means PB will continue to use the games network socket to communicate with PB masters; setting this to a non-zero value (such as 15000) will cause PB to use a separate network socket for Master Query Packets; this setting can be placed into the pbcl.cfg file in the pb folder to configure PB to use this setting each time it initializes; NOTE that players with a firewall or personal security software may need to configure these separately to fully allow traffic on the chosen port
– starting with this version 1.084, the PB Client now requires the game to be run as the administrator user or equivalent under Windows XP/2K (see our FAQ for more info).
Version 1.085 of the PB Server for BFV has been released to our PB Master Servers for auto-update and to our website download page. Release Notes for PB Server v1.085:
– addressed intermittent bug with pb_sv_protecttag and pb_sv_protectname commands causing incorrect kicking of registered players
I feel like a member of the Scooby gang. Recently, we have seen a lot of people having problems with Punkbusters giving a message like “Trying to update PunkBuster Client: and then not updating the properly. The next thing you know, the server has kicked you and will not let you back on for 2 minutes. You wait 2 minutes, get back into the server and little bit later, BAM, it does it again.
Well gang, mystery solved.
You need to open ports 24300 through 24350 on your client computers firewall/router, etc…. Lets hope this does the trick!
Are you having problems with PunkBusters kicking you from Battlefield 1942 servers with a message about not being able to update the client? The fix is very simple, although the PB website is some what convoluted on the subject. Go to the PB download site and get pbweb. Put it in your pb directory, located in the root of your Battlefield 1942 directory and then run it.
You should be updated after that and no longer get kicked for running an older version of PunkBusters.
