Matchbook Romance drummer resurfaces in God or Julie

Former Matchbook Romance drummer Aaron Stern has resurfaced in a new project dubbed God or Julie. He explained:

Today is a big day for me. I am officially announcing that I am joining forces with New York rock band, God or Julie. After Matchbook Romance broke up, it really hit home how difficult it is to find individuals who all share a similar elevated vision of music. When I was introduced to God or Julie, my hopes to continue the artistic progress and musical success that I had with Matchbook Romance were restored.

The new project is inspired by acts like Muse, Weezer, Foo Fighters, The Police, The Clash and others.

Matchbook Romance split up in March after releasing a number of albums on indie powerhouse, Epitaph Records.

NY Post looks at the company behind Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco

The New York Post has written up an expose on Crush Management, the agency behind emo-pop success stories Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco and The Academy Is… among others.

The article also draws comparisons between Crush and Lou Pearlman, the alleged con man and architect behind the boy band craze of the mid-to-late 90s, as both have “successfully marketed a critically dismissed, yet commercially successful, stable of cute boy bands to timid teenage girls not yet ready for real rebellion.” Much is said about the age and supposed naivety of the bands’ target audience. Whether you agree with their point or not, it’s an interesting read and you can find the full article at the NY Post.
