Whole Wheat Bread post two new songs

Whole Wheat Bread have posted two songs from their as yet untitled follow-up to 2006’s Punk Life. ‘Ode 2 Father’ and ‘Stuck in Da Dark’ can be streamed on the band’s MySpace page.

The new album will be the first to feature the band’s new bassist, Will Frazier and is due to drop this summer. It was produced by Travis Huff (Armor For Sleep, Yellowcard, Pharcyde) and features contributions from Mike McColgan of Street Dogs and rappers Lil Jon and Murs.

Verse signs to Bridge 9

Providence, RI’s Verse has signed to Bridge 9 Records. The band will enter Salem, MA’s God City Studios along with the Getaway Group Studios with engineer Jay Maas to begin recording their third full length. The album, titled Aggression, is set to hit stores on June 10th. Rivalry Records, home to the band’s prior full lengths, will be handling the vinyl release of the album.

Verse last released From Anger and Rage in 2006. The band will celebrate it’s 5 year anniversary this Saturday with a show in their hometown that’ll feature Have Heart, Down to Nothing, Shipwreck a.d. and Soul Control among others.

Genghis Tron: ‘Board Up the House’

Philadelphia, PA’s Genghis Tron is ‘almost’ streaming their entire new album Board Up the House via their MySpace page. The final song from the album “Relief” is ten minutes long and won’t be uploaded. The album is due out February 19th on Relapse Records.

Tours: NOFX / No Use For A Name / American Steel

Fat Wreck Chords has posted dates for the second leg of the label’s upcoming package tour featuring NOFX and No Use for a Name. As previously announced the bands will head out with the The Flatliners in toe this February and March. The new announcement confirms that the tour will return in May, swapping the Toronto ska-punks for American Steel. That leg of the tour will hit the US northwest and a few western Canadian cities.

Pennywise: “Something To Live For”

Our pals over at Alternative Press have premiered the first song from Pennywise has titled their upcoming record Reason To Believe. You can stream “Something To Live For” at the AP media page.

The full length is due on on March 25, 2008 via MySpace Records. It follows up the band’s final release for longtime label Epitaph, 2005’s The Fuse. We posted the cover art a few weeks ago.

As previously announced, aside from traditional CD and vinyl editions, the label is offering up the entire album as a free digital download via a Textango promotion. Anyone who adds Textango’s profile as a friend on the social networking site MySpace will get access to the songs.

Constantines detail “Kensington Heights”

The ConstantinesArts & Crafts has revealed detail on the upcoming Constantines full length. The album carries the title Kensington Heights and is due out April 15 in Canada, followed by a 29th release in the US. The release will be available as a CD, digital download, or LP. the album will be comprised of 12 tracks, leading off with the recently unveiled “Hard Feelings” single. A video is in the works for “Hard Feelings” as well.

The new full length follows up 2005’s Tournament of Hearts.

Iggy and the Stooges (European festivals)

Iggy and the Stooges are scheduled to play a number of European festival dates this summer in support of their recent full length The Weirdness. This includes Spain’s Electric Weekend alongside Rage Against The Machine, Belgium’s TW Classic with the Police, the UK’s Isle of Wight Festival with the Sex Pistols (and Police again), and Germany’s Rock Am See.

The godfather of punk recently collaborated with big beat star Fatboy Slim on a track titled “He’s Frank.” The song appeared in a club scene on the recent Heroes episode “Four Months Ago” and should end up on Slim’s next record.

Jimmy Pursey’s Sham 69 becomes DAY21

Sham 69 frontman Jimmy Pursey has renamed his band DAY21, thus ending a period of confusion in which two groups of former Sham 69 members were laying claim to the name. DAY21’s lineup will feature Pursey on vocals along with bassist Mat Sargent, guitarist Rev and drummer Snell.

The other Sham, now presumably the only Sham, is lead by guitarist Dave Parsons and recently featured a lineup that included bassist Rob Jefferson, drummer Ian Whitewood and new vocalist Tim ‘Scazz’ Scargill. Parsons and Pursey quarelled over the name after a bitter split in 2007.

Brutal Knights: “My Life My Fault”

Toronto’s Brutal Knights will soon release a new four song 7″ EP titled My Life My Fault. The release will be released by Lafayette/Toronto’s Spin The Bottle Records and will be available in time for the group’s upcoming American tour. The group commented “We stand by this recording as it sounds like 7 year olds playing oi! music too fast. These new joints were lovingly crafted with only 2 notes each and we hope you fucking hate them.
