If You Make It has posted a six song demo from Richmond, VA’s Sundials as a free download. The website adds:

“I feel like this record fits in perfectly with the recent return of the 90’s style rock, ushered in by bands like Cheap Girls, Used Kids, and Failures’ Union. It has that fun bouncy style that makes me excited for spring to come.”

BandJob launches website

The Black Axe, the artist collective spearheaded by notable punk artists Richard Minino (aka HORSEBITES), Derek Deal and Skull With Hair have unveiled a new project, dubbed BandJob:

“BandJob caters exclusively to graphic designers, artists and musicians. The site is a “by artists for artists” take on social networking that encompasses everything from t-shirt and album design to webpages. It contains a section for posting jobs which enables users to contact their desired clients, find out their budget and pitch their ideas and style. BandJob acts as a forum for artists to share their work as well as letting musicians seek out the perfect designer for any given project.”

Dave Grohl, Ashton Kutcher, and Fred Armisen SNL skit on middle aged punks

Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters/Nirvana/Them Crooked Vultures joined Ashton Kutcher and Fred Armisen in a Saturday Night Live sketch that had a group of middle aged fathers reliving their glory days in a punk band and performing a song called “Fist Fight in the Parking Lot” which some may recognize as some sort of hybrid of Black Flag‘s “TV Party” and Suicidal Tendencies‘ “Institutionalized.”

Mixtapes post album for free download

Cincinnati, OH/Detroit, MI outfit Mixtapes have posted their debut, Maps, as a free download. The band notably features Fireworks drummer Tymm Rengers and cites The Promise Ring, Dillinger Four, Superchunk and Rivethead as influences.

Spring Heeled Jack USA: “Waiting, Watching”

Spring Heeled Jack USA To coincide with the band’s recently announced reunion after nearly eight years of inaction, we’ve got a rare song from Spring Heeled Jack‘s out-of-print album Songs from Suburbia. . The band featured future members of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, Pilfers and other notable acts of the late 90s third wave ska movement. This year the group will also be reissuing their long out of print albums Static World View and Songs From Suburbia on vinyl via Asbestos Records.

7 Seconds, Rival Schools, F*cked Up, Riverboat Gamblers, Strike Anywhere at Shirts for a Cure

The Shirts for a Cure Project and Photo Finish Records have announced the lineup for his year’s SXSW day party will feature 7 Seconds, Rival Schools, Fucked Up, Steel Train, Riverboat Gamblers, Envy on the Coast, Strike Anywhere, The Downtown Fiction, Dead to Me, I Fight Dragons, Ashtree Close and a special guest. The FREE event will be held on two stages at Red 7 (611 East 7th Street) on Friday March 19th, doors open at noon sharp. Donations will be collected at the door and are strong encouraged.

This is the fifth year Photo Finish and Shirts for a Cure has produced a showcase for SXSW. Performers in the past have included My Chemical Romance, Hot Water Music, The Bouncing Souls, Circa Survive, Head Automatica, Lifetime, Bane and many more.
