Trine + Kim Design Studio has been creating album artwork since 1999, and during this year’s Inferno festival in Oslo, Norway it will exhibiting a selection of its designs for black metal and neo-black metal artists, including cover art for MAYHEM, DARKTHRONE, ULVER, DØDHEIMSGARD, IHSAHN, SHINING, SOLEFALD, ARCTURUS, VED BUENS ENDE, MANES and VIRUS.

Blacklisted to release “No One Deserves to Be Here More Than Me” on CD

Blacklisted After spending the past few months as a vinyl exclusive, Blacklisted will be releasing their critically acclaimed album, No One Deserves to Be Here More Than Me on CD on April 13, 2010. The record was the 12th Best of 2009 according to our staff and the CD release will feature the entirety of the record, as well as the Eccentrichine 7-inch released earlier in 2010.

Black Lips working on their fifth record

Black LipsBillboard is reporting that the Black Lips are two recording sessions into their fifth studio album. Guitarist Ian Saint Pe spoke to the magazine, commenting that the record should be completed by June with a release date expected in late summer or early fall. The band recorded at its studio in Decatur, GA, followed by a session with Bradford Cox and Lockett Pundt of Deerhunter producing. A third session is slated for the Distillery in Costa Mesa, California. The band recorded 2005’s Let It Bloom in that studio.Saint Pe commented to Billboard on the direction of the album: “We do what we do. It’ll sound like a Black Lips record; I can’t say much more than that. It’s got garage stuff, punk stuff, a little of that Atlanta hip-hop. It’s just who we are. I think it sounds good.”

The band last relaesed 200 Million Thousand in 2009.

Traffic Street Records details new releases

Traffic Street Records has posted the artwork, track listing, details, and streaming audio for their next two records, both of which are slated for an early April release.

First is a split 7″ from Elgin, IL’s Vacation Bible School and Minneapolis, MN’s The God Damn Doo Wop Band. The record is titled Covered and features one new song from each band on the A-side and both bands covering one of the others’ songs on the B-side. For VBS, this release follows up their split 7″ with Shot Baker for Underground Communique. The God Damn Doo Wop Band notably features vocalists Kat Naden (The Strait A’s) and Annie Holoien (The Soviettes).

Second is another split 7″, which pairs Madison, WI’s The Transgressions and Washburn, WI’s The Side Project. The record is titled Stop Wasting My Time and it features three new songs by each band. The Transgressions are following up their 2009 CDEP for Rally Records, Waste My Time, (the art and title of which are parodied subject matter for this record), while The Side Project are following up their 2009 7″ for Traffic Street, New Brain.
