    Punkbuster Manual Update:

    Download this file:
    http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php

Run it, and add the games you wish to have it check for updates. Give all necessary firewall permissions.

I had it check BF2 and 2142, and both needed updating.

I got 2142 running again. I had switched around monitors, and 2142 did not like this. I found the video.con file (which houses the resolution & refresh rate of your video settings) but no amount of fiddling would fix it. I uninstalled & reinstalled, and it still didn't work. I uninstalled again, followed directions for clearing out the registry, and this time I reinstalled it successfully.

A complete purging of 2142 seems to be a common component of 2142 bug fixes. Remember this post for later access.

Clean Battlefield 2142 entirely from your computer

To delete the configuration files and local copy of your account:
    1. Double click on My Documents.
    2. Right-click on the Battlefield 2142 folder and choose Delete.

    To delete the game files:
    1. Find your 2142 folder (differs depending on where you installed it. Default is "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2142", I believe)
    2. Right-click on the Battlefield 2142 folder and choose Delete.
    3. Go to the following folder: C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information (If you cannot find this folder you may have to go to Tools > Folder Settings and click the setting to SHOW hidden folders.)
    4. Right-click on the folder named {ED50ECE9-EC54-4C05-B5ED-EE4741A9F2EC} and choose Delete.
    5. Close all open windows.
    6. Right-click on the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin.

To edit the registry and remove Battlefield 2142:
    1. Click on the Start button.
    2. Click on Run.
    3. Type regedit in the text field.
    4. Click File and then choose Export.
    5. Name the file Backup and make sure the Export Range is set to All.
    6. Click Save. You will now be returned to the Registry Editor window.
    7. Click the plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
    8. Click the plus sign next to Software.
    9. Click the plus sign next to EA GAMES.
    10. Right-click on the Battlefield 2142 folder and choose Delete.
    11. Back under Software, click the plus sign next to Electronic Arts.
    12. Click the plus sign next to EA GAMES.
    13. Right-click on the Battlefield 2142 folder and choose Delete.
    14. Just above EA GAMES you will see a folder named EA CORE, click the plus sign next to EA CORE.
    15. Click the plus sign next to INSTALLED GAMES.
    16. Click the plus sign next to EA GAMES.
    17. Right-click on any Battlefield 2142 folders and choose Delete.
    18. Click the plus sign next to Microsoft.
    19. Click the plus sign next to Windows.
    20. Click the plus sign next to CurrentVersion.
    21. Click the plus sign next to Uninstall.
    22. Right-click on the key named {ED50ECE9-EC54-4C05-B5ED-EE4741A9F2EC} and choose Delete.
    23. A Confirm Key Delete window will appear, choose Yes.
    24. Close the Windows Registry Editor.

Battlefield 2142 is now completely removed from your system.

    Good job Doc.
Some points I would say are a bit awkward but it works.

I should write a batch file/script to do all of this for you. 🙂

So is it running more smoothly for you?

Lucky for me I have not had to un-install this as yet. Still a great and reference to have.

    Lexx.. bite me 🙂

It's not my instructions. I looked with Google for an hour to find these, and, as you said, they work.

Not running more smoothly, unfortunately, but it's running.

Exactly my original point. For a game that is nothing more than a mod on top of BF2, its amazing how damn bad it preforms. If they would hire back the patch team that fixed some of the major BF2 bugs, I'd be happy to give it another try.

For now, I like it best as un-installed.

Lets also be fair and say there are lots of people not having any problems running it as far as lag etc...

It takes more video power than BF2 did so upgrade your system and stop blaming the f-in game!!!!

There are other games that probably won't run on your system, so are they lame as well?

I will give you the bugs and other stuff but performance is only part their fault if they added a lot to the engine.

Sorry I just get tired of this same EA bashing crap over and over.... it is as bad as Bush bashing. You only hear negative all the F-in time...

I can run anything else at full specs except 2142, anything! How many times do I have to say that???????

2142 is the worse piece of crap I've ever paid $50 for. I have the right to bash it until the damn basic code is fixed. 4, 5 patches now?? I don't think they give a #$ about my $50, eh?

Besides, I didn't start anything, just a ' 👍 ' on Doc's uninstall routine. If it doesn't work right, why the hell should it waste space on my HD?? If you want some EA bashing, let me get all wound up first 🙂

    🤣 🤣 🤣

Give 'em hell, Lexx. I LIKE 2142, and still I enjoyed this! 🙂

EA - for a game company that makes great games, they sure piss off their customers!

    PS: You're still a dick 😉

That is because it is also the newest game you own! I am sorry but newer games are going to take more and more horse power dude! You HAVE to upgrade that video card at some point!!!

If it doesn't work right away why waist space? Because it is a fun game and works on MY system just fine 😉

I really hope UT3 runs like crap on your machine just to prove my point 😉
