Anyone else notice that the 1.5 patch for BF2 is nowhere to be found? Didn't they announce this back in June? Oh, that's right, they are too busy working on 5 crappy new BF games. Silly me.

Seems like the usual schedule for BF2. No one wants to play it anyway.

Looks like DICE is getting us a Christmas present 😀

DICE via PBF wrote:There has been a lot of discussions on the Battlefield forums regarding the Battlefield 2 Update 1.50, so this is to let you all know what’s happening.

Update 1.50 is still in development, we have held back on releasing the update as we have become aware of and are taking preventative measures against 3rd party tools which have been severely affecting everyone’s playing experience recently by crashing dedicated servers, clients as well as allowing account spoofing. We hope you understand our decision to delay the release to resolve these issues rather than releasing early with a need to update again.

We are looking to release this update by Winter of this year.

i.e. we fired the team that was working on it because the complained about working 80 hours per week, when we hire the next set of trained monkeys to replace them, we will also have to buy the newest set of "Learning Python". Since we havent' released Madden 2010, we can't justify that $29 for the books on ebay. Instead of training the new "programmers" we are going to stab at them with cattle prods while they learn to code.

All said when we release the patch it will break 90% of the game and roll back many of the features from past patches. But no need to worry, We will be releasing BF 21038423028176 and BF "Buy our microtransaction maps" in the meantime. Incidnetally, since we have your credit card number and address we will charge you for those games automatically.

8 months no patch. This is why this game became a failure, promises by EA that were never kept. This is also why 2142 was a miserable failure.

EA I expected more from you.

Silly GI, EA has abandoned You!

Sadly, I did not. Not for the last two years, anyway.

I kinda doubt there ever was a patch. I think EA just wanted a couple of headlines while Crysis and COD4, etc were the hot news.

Can't just blame EA this time. I've been waiting longer than that for the last official patch from Epic for UT3. Now that was an epic failure.

Here is where EA's greed gets the better of it I think. All they would had to do is take TWO user maps, fine tune them, fix one little quirk in the game, bundle it as a patch with two free ranked maps and they couldn't had all the press they needed. They just HAVE to sell maps. Same crap with their other titles. Sims2 grates on me as its hard to say no to a teenage girl over expansion packs. She always wins 😛

No they didn't need new maps, they just needed to fix the issues that have been in the game since day 1. The reason a grave dug this thread is just to make sure people remember the promise that was broken.

    Screw You EA

PeeBeeEfff had this information last week. I didn't post it because I was busy. It's not terribly exciting but it does indicate that they are still working on it....

EA Forums via PBF wrote:Having staff to cover any major problems after release is always a key part when we release updates so releasing so close to Christmas would have been a risk we probably wouldn't want to have taken.

As for news of when it will release I'll have more information on that in the next week or so as I have to do some investigations on some things as everyone gets back from Christmas vacation.

I'll let you all know as soon as I do

We have one thing left to do on the update and thats to compile and build the installer for the update. So now we are very close to having something. Once we make the installer we'll do some internal testing then open it up to you all.

Highway Tampa will be compulsary from 1.50 onwards (as it was optional with 1.41). We are looking to make a full and incremental version of the update. The incremental with be a couple of hundred Mb while the full would be well over 500Mb

Not a peep on the CT forums, scuttlebutt is new maps are going to be converted BF2142 maps (3 I think) but that is strictly hear say - nothing from the Rat Bastards officially.

As of now, CT is not the scheduled group to test either, so were told.

As in, they won't release the 3 maps to BF2 or they are going to release them for Both?

I think the game is dead. It can't even maintain top notch mods when they release new versions.
