I mean, the game came out late october and already a month and a half later they have an expansion out? What's worse is the design work required to create a map has already been done since these are pre-existing maps, yes they had to be modeled in the new engine but the testing and layout was already done and proven as popular.
Don't get me wrong, I will still get it after christmas, but I hope this isn't an indicator of a what's to come for BF3.

I have to assume that the Karkand expansion was planned to go out with the limited editions but was unable to for whatever reason.
I will be honest, after playing BF3 so much, I am happy to see something else besides the same maps over and over. While I am not giddy for these maps, it is a nice change and the assignments are a cool addition [imo].
I'm slightly annoyed by it in that each iteration of Battlefield has had fewer and fewer maps (a least that's what my perception is). I feel like they are making us pay extra for something that should have been included in the original game. On the other hand, I got the game, including the Karkand Expansions, at a pretty good sale price so I'm not particularly bitter about it.
I'm looking forward to some new maps for sure especially Karkand and Sharqui - the other two I could live without. Especially Wake which is just a meat grinder for those of us that stick close to the ground.
Sarge, Wake will be awesome if they did the tree's correctly. I love Jungle maps.
No love for Karkand?
I found the BF3 maps to be somewhat generic. I love the game, but the maps don't seem to have the same Character as the older maps. I hope they turn out more Maps from BF2.
My biggest worry is they will continue releasing these mini expansions and continue to fragment the community. The two mini-expansions for BF2 really hurt the server situation when they were released.
I would love to see the entire map catalog beign ported to the newer engine. It's like playing baseball as an adult, You put on the old mitt and are reminded about all the great games as a kid, you are transplanted back to a different time and place, but you forget about the Penn St coach (think Helos).
