Very interesting. I'm thinking about turning AO off completely.

Also, if you haven't turned motion blur down to 0, I suggest you give it a try. It's helped me with the motion sickness, not to mention it makes the game a slight easier.

Just keep an eye on it. It was reset after the patch. Bastards.

I am guessing that with my Vid card on the low end of the "acceptable" spectrum and my video settings on "Low", that SSAO and HBAO are both off but I will check them. One of the first changes I made to the settings was to get rid of motion blur. It makes my eyes feel funny after a while.

Yea, at first I was leaving my settings on auto and moving the motion blur slider all the way to 0, but it kept resetting. I noticed last night that I could turn it off all together if I manually changed my settings. I turned it and AO off last night. Not sure if it made any difference, but I was able to play for about 3 maps and felt fine afterwards.

I'll definitely check this out as I could use some extra frames per second.

I think someone needs to ask for a new video card for Christmas. I'm running a first gen 460GTX and the auto settings are all High with 16x and the high end AO. I'm sure you can find them for a decent price now. Heck, I think I got mine for $175 a year and 1/2 ago.

The 460s haven't come down in price much - maybe to the $150 range.

I'm actually hoping to get a card before Christmas - Given the crazy "Black Friday" deals that have been extended to the whole month of November now, someone will have a good deal

I feel like we've had a very similar conversation about the inadequacy of my PC or video card for every major game release for the last 7 years 😄

I am pretty sure I have a gtx295 laying around.. if you don't happen to snag anything nice, and you have a 6pin and an 8pin available on your power supply, or was it two 8pins.. -shrug- they are power hungry beasties.

You have a 295 just lying around? I might need to take you up on that.....

I am with Atomm, I am running a 460 as well, and it has no troubles with this game.

The game runs ok on low settings. I don't crash too much but my framerates hover around 30 most of the time. Rarely do they get low enough that I get to the slideshow mode that I would see early in BF2. The video card was the only piece that I didn't upgrade when I built this new machine last winter because I wanted to wait until I was playing something that pushed the 9800 before I spent the money. Now I am there.
