Battlefield Apocolypse, which at various times has had former GRB members on the development team is planning a release for February 1st, 2008. The mod is much different than any other released for Battlefield so far and will feature a "Mad Max" type setting.
I wish I knew how to get in touch with him. Maybe I should start spamming his known email addresses.
BTW Raze, can you get a static of the skull with the white of the eyes slid to the side. That looks killer!
People I know that worked on it from GRB, Lou-Cipher, Scott, Hitpawz, Akanain (sp?). It also had Croupier, one of the mappers we featured for our BFV FNF Custom Map nights. He was the guy who joined us from Australia when we had his maps on. He was a good guy and from what I saw, one of the driving forces in keeping this thing going.
I hope this is fun. We've waited a long time for this and I don't see them doing a second release....
The game is out - Download links listed in the first post....
BFA wrote:They say the world was green once. Trees and grass. I've seen the pictures, but it's still hard to believe. How the hell did we come to this? There are a hundred different stories, and who knows what's true and what's not any more? You see, I was born After. Never got to feel the grass between my toes or climb a tree the way my granddad talked about. For all I know, he may have been the last one from Before, and he's gone now, too.
I suppose it was bound to happen sooner or later. Granddad said that men always seem to find a way to destroy each other, and themselves. Seems to me they did a hell of a job this time, and took out the whole damn planet in the bargain.
I guess we're not any different now, though. No lessons learned. They say it was a real mess in The Dark, that time just After when the survivors began crawling out of their holes. The sky was blacked out by ash clouds, and almost every growing thing was dead. People killed each other over food, and to hear Granddad tell it, sometimes they had to eat those they killed.
Wasn't long before folks started banding together. They built strongholds in the rubble, and they salvaged what they could from the machines of Before: cars, generators, guns. Eventually, the Dark passed, and Man survived.
You might think that's a good thing, that it's the start of civilization again. You might think that the worst is behind us now. But if you'd ask me, you'd be wrong. You see, these "civilized" people, they still fight and kill, sometimes for the sheer joy of it. And some of those who crawled out of their holes in The Dark came out changed, twisted, mutated into something no longer completely human. No, the worst is not behind us. We're right here in the middle of hell. So I roam these roads alone, my car and my gun my only companions. Waiting...waiting for my turn to die.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys & girls⦠Dyinâ timesâ here!
After more than two years in the making and much anticipation, DoomLab Studio is proud to release the 1st Official build of Battlefield Apocalypse v0.1, a Total BF2 Conversion!
What is Battlefield Apocalypse? BF:A is a total conversion of the EA/Dice multi-player pc game (SINGLE PLAYER IS NON-FUNCTIONAL AT THIS TIME), Battelfield2 with all new maps, weapons, vehicles and player characters(coming in v0.2), based in a post-apocalyptic era. The world as we know it has been destroyed and itâs every beast for themselves! You rely on whatever you can find to survive in the wasteland, or thrive in it. Never underestimate the power of any weapon or vehicle, no matter how insignificant it may appear.
Content:
Maps: Crater Deathtrap Death Rally 69 Fuel Outpost Graveyard Ground Zero Helltown Railed Sea of the Cyclopean Three Mile Island Tug of War Vile Ville
Weapons: A full list of weapons is detailed here -> Remnant Weapons Arsenal and Reavers Weapons Arsenal A couple things not listed in the arsenal are; the Nuke, which will obliterate every living thing on the map that doesnât take cover, and our special version of humiliation. Instead of tea bagging your enemies mortally wounded body, you can unzip & mark your territory by taking a whizz on his head!
Vehicles: Blue Baron Boom Kart Bus Doom Buggy Doom Wagon Dump Truck Flame Camaro Gladiator Bi-Plane Interceptor Pursuit Special Mad Max Truck Monster Truck Ramp Boat Speed Boat Trike
We are planning the release of v0.2 in mid-March 2008. There are more maps that werenât ready for this release and a lot more objects. As with any game or mod we expect some bugs which will also be addressed in v0.2. A hotfix or patch is not out of the question prior to the release of v0.2 if needed.
DoomLab Studio would like to thank the following people: EA/Dice for providing a platform for us to build this mod on. All of the people past & present who donated their precious time to the making of this mod, developers, artists, coders, testers, you guys are the best! The great folks at www.totalbf2.com for their inspiration, support & encouragement. www.bf2player.com and www.bf2tracker.com for supporting the release of BF:A and the BF2 community in general. =[DAM]= Clan for some productive, last minute bug testing.
A special thanks to our families for putting up with us, not only thru this mod, but in general =) Those who stuck it out to the release, new & old, you know who you are & you guys are frigginâ awesome! The âOld Saltsâ at www.bfpirates.com , what can we say except thank you, thank you & THANK YOU! Thanks for all of your contributions in the development of BF:A and the Battlefield Pirates Mod that totally kicks ASS!
We hope the Battlefield2 Modification Community & Players enjoy playing this mod as much as we enjoyed making it. It was truly a learning experience, and we are looking forward to releasing Battlefield Apocalypse v0.2!
I'll let him know next time i talk to him. He hates bf2 but i'm sure he'd play bfv if you ever want to run that. I don't think he has tf2 but i do, so i'll let him check it out next time he comes up. Last time i saw him he said he wanted to do some online gaming, just didn't have a game worth playing i guess.
If anyone has any problems installing or running bfa you can hop in their teamspeak or post on the forums at www.bfapocalypse.com. If you do decide to play bfa for fnf, i would suggest leaving a few maps out of rotation, one is laggy and another seems to empty out servers in no time (too much swimming).
Good to hear from you man! Thanks for the BFA tips 🙂 If we do play BFA on Friday night it will be on someone else's server however as we don't carry a BF2 one any more.
Give a hi to LoU for us when you see him for sure.
Hehe Sarge and I played this mod last night some. Low and behold we had Hitpawz and Scott join us in game. It was some fun, of course the best part was "piss" kills. Yes that is right you can piss on someone and it kills them. As you can seee from these screenies, there is a little yellow stream.
crap getting an upload error message "Upload failed. Please ask the administrator to ensure the uploads directory is writeable"
Man, that is strangest thing I have ever seen in a game.... LOL
Sorry I couldn't make it. Kiddo wasn't feeling good and kept me up late.
Scott, nice to see you again man. BTW, we do have a TF2 server and we play all customs. You should drop by for a FNF. And tell Lou about the game. It doesn't run as hard as BF2 and the source tools are suppose to be a lot easier to use than mod tools for BF. I bet you guys could make some killer maps.
Bubbaspanky wrote:...he said Lou refuses to even install BF2
That's not saying much. I refuse to install BF2. Sides, looking at the screenshots I fear it being something similar to a crappy version of 1942 with more crashing.
..I could be wrong, but I'm unwilling to give it a try.
The look isn't that polished but the did label it a .1 release. I had no crashing issues at all playing for about 3 hours last night. Bubba did CTD at least once that I recall.
The weapons are fun. Saw blade thrower was my favorite followed by the converted leaf blower thingamajig. Cars with missles and bombs, biplanes, and of course the lethal piss made it entertaining. Bubba and I were laughing quite a bit.
Last time I spoke with LoU he was playing on a friends computer. (long time ago) I believe he only did some skinning , one of which was the rusty Hotrod if my memory serves me.
