    Now THAT rocks!
I dig the Vietnam era combat games.

So it's an addition to BFBC2 - looks like I'm keeping my eye out on Ebay for BFBC2.

Yea, you have to buy BFBC2 and the expansion. I just wish they would get off this 4 map kick. BF43 was 4 maps and they've released map packs with 4 maps. If it's a true expansion, at least do 8.

CoD4 Modern Combat "Stimulus package" is also 4 map addition, released - what - 2 months ago?

I hate to say it, but BC2:VN is probably going to be the only battlefield expansion pack that I don't buy. I never really enjoyed BFV - too few maps, weapons, and environments. Unfortunately that seems to be the trend with games: giving us more eye candy at the expense of content.

A new Medal of Honor is coming out set in Afghanistan that is being developed by DICE. That is probably where I will be spending my $$. And if BF1943 ever makes it out on PC I'll pick that up too! I'm absolutely DYING to play BF1943!!!

No kidding. What the heck is going on with BF43?

I'm told that BF1943 will eventually make it to the PC. Perhaps after they have BC2 polished up as far as technical issues. They run on the same engine, so it would make sense to use what they've learned from BC2 to make BF1943 more polished out of the box.

For what it's worth I've heard BF1943 is a total blast on the XBOX 360.

But if that's true Larva...... what will they ever do to patch it 32 times the first week it's out?

Come on Duck have confidence in EA... they will surely break the engine before porting it across. You know their motto, perfect the engine then forget how you fixed it and release it again at the level of beta.

......Hey - Maybe they can release the first two or three patches first then 2 weeks later release the game.....
  10. #11
    Stop giving them ideas

I'll never underestimate a game developer's ability to completely destabilize a game engine by simply replacing all of the maps, weapons and skins and calling it a new game.

How many of you guys have played Call of Duty: World At War? It was simply WWII on the COD4 engine. It was months before we could get the majority of the -=NC=- and =DC= guys who bought it to even run the game. It was system lock-up heaven. They released one patch that I couldn't even install - I had to wait for the subsequent patch because they never even fixed the installer. Finally it got better, but they had no business releasing it in the state they did.

Weird, I never had a problem with W@W... in fact I loved that game. Worth the money spent, though I wish I could have gotten some others into it.

  13. #14
I'll jump on a W@W server with you as long as it's a HC server... the other is too arcade for me.
  14. #15
Even though I couldn't play it when it 1st came out, I do love W@W. And I also prefer Hardcore mode - it's a blast!

Unfortunately we retired the W@W server, primarily because we had way too many servers - however we still have a 16-slot COD4 server. If you guys ever want to go pub some W@W let me know.
  15. #16
    Still got 4 installed too......

Give World War 2 Shooter MEOW EA!.. Rawr.. grumble grumble

    *fades back into non-existance*
  17. #18
That does it.... there must be aliens spiking the worlds water supply - or the amnesia powder has worn off or something.

HEY ECB!!!!!!!!!!! Howdy - good to know your still alive - how's it going?
  18. #19
And another one comes back from the "dead". Good to see you're still alive and kicking Everclear!
  19. #20
Dang Man! What have you been up to? Still doing the radio thing?

Now let's see if he comes back.... hehehe

Yea, I really want a WWII shooter in the BF lineup again.

I actually reinstalled BF42 on my laptop a month ago. What fun. :-)
  21. #22
I wonder if my Iphone is powerful enough to run BF42 yet? Should be close.
  22. #23
Video of BFBC2 Vietnam. Looks really interesting. For $15, (with BFBC2 already installed), I'm going to pick it up.

Raze, we were actually playing BF42 at the beginning of the year. Sarge and Bubba finally Got the last expansion, so it was like a whole new game to them. The only downside was the single server playing the maps. :sigh:
  23. #24
Update to BFBC2V (damn, thats a lot of letters).

Operation Hastings from the original BFV has been remade and included as a 5th unlockable map. Once all gamers reach 69 Million helpful actions, it will unlock. This would include healing someone or supplying ammo, etc.

I almost wish they would remake every single BFV map on the new engine. That would something.
  24. #25
I really enjoyed much of BFV. Getting heli-raped not so much, but I really liked the aiming/shooting mechanism in that game, and many of the maps that were not dominated by helos were all pretty cool
  25. #26
I had issues with the shooting not allowing skill, it deviated your shots always until you settled down. Other than that and the helo raping, not too bad. Some maps really sucked, but some were fun
  26. #27
I think some of best games were the 5 vs 5 no vehicle maps. It took the helo raping out of the game.

Another thing BFV got right was the lack of uncapturable bases. It meant bad games would just end sooner, where as BF42 and BF2 would become rape fests. It was a shame that DICE Sweden didn't see the value in this.

I'm going to give this a shot. I don't know if I'll even be able to play it, but I really liked the Vietnam era for BF. I Hope this captures some of it's flavor at least.

Read this in a review of Vietnam.

    Ok, now I'm excited.

There are plenty of tunnels in most of the levels.....

  28. #29
Will le tyou first adopters decide if it's worth it - Bubba and Atomm has - Sarge do you?
  29. #30
    Umm, wow.....

  30. #31
So alright - that WAS cool - was it the PC version we saw?
  31. #32
I'm not sure Duck. I have to assume it was since it looked like it was recorded on screen, instead of video camera offscreen.

  32. #33
For the record, saw Larva on Vietnam the other night. Looks like he broke down and bought it. Peer Pressure!

I wish Everclear would pick up Vietnam. It'd be great to play with him again.
