PS3 released this month and PC released next month for Beta.

Duck, are you able to get in on this?

Oh I HAVE to get in this beta. I have not been so excited for a game since BF2 itself.
THIS is the game that will replace that.

I am still primarily a FPS gamer and no other games compare to this series even with EA's faults!

The Battlefield Bad Company 2 promo video for the Cabal Gaming Cartel is done. Be sure to watch it in 1080P for best affect - it's also available in 720P.

DevilDog already pre-ordered a 32-slot Bad Company 2 server for the cartel, so we'll be all set when the release date rolls around. We're trying to get a head start by recruiting new players into the cartel now, since all of the servers out there are truly public and don't belong to any clans.

WOW good work with the video.

But the game....I see incorrect weapon sights, ATV camping, ejection seats in helicopters, 43 rounds from a belt fed machine gun to kill an opponent and a pistol that kills in 4 rounds.

What was not in the video we that piss poor animation of the sniper that's what 7 or so seconds between rounds fired?
    Ugh.

I will get this game, I know I will, it's more a question of when will I get this game.
I've never purchased a game like this earlier than a year after it's release - and as much as I want a sparkly new game to play I "think" I'll wait a least until the Rat Bastards put out the first patch. As nothing from EA goes un-fuk'd for long.

(it will also be interesting how soon it may come.... days, weeks - a month or more...?)

    Very good video though.

    Good Jorb Larva!

How's the infantry play in the game? It looks as if with the destructible environment, that infantry has even fewer places to hide from rampaging vehicles than in BF2. Is that the case or can you find reasonable cover?

The player are actually inside the cube from pong in BFBC2, there is no cover, only vehicles and infantry. It takes 38 bazooka rounds to blow up a jeep, assuming they don't encounter a collision mesh error. The vehicles all have a 65' buffer around them where if infantry touches that buffer its instant permadeath (EA closes your account and invalidates your game key for you) and last but not least the server browser is broken

It's great - a well-coordinated squad is the best weapon in the game. A good squad is hard to stop. Like I said, it's much better without Jets. There are also no claymores, which in my opinion totally slowed down infantry combat in BF2.

The map doesn't start off that way. It takes a while for the destruction to accumulate. Even then, it's often time to move to a new part of the map anyways. It's very dynamic, making the map more exciting and less mundane. In rush mode it almost feels like each new set of objectives is a new map.

All of the fighting is very concentrated and very intense in rush mode because of only 2 objectives in relatively close proximity to each other. Often there are just too many enemies around to bother spending time trying to take cover - you've just got to fight your ass off and try to make sure at least one guy in your squad survives so you can respawn on them.

Your best cover from enemy armor is friendly armor, friendly choppers, armed UAVs, mounted rocket emplacements, and squadmates with C4, mines and AT rockets. An enemy tank is dead meat if you know what you're doing and are working with teammates. The key is to spot them for your teammates.

And Duck, I wouldn't worry about it taking too long to kill anyone. As in most other FPS games headshots still rule - being able to score quick headshots gives you a huge advantage over opponents who aim for the torso. If you think the weapons damage is too weak/lame, then try it in hardcore mode, similar to what COD4 had. We've play in HC mode a few times and death is much quicker.

As far as the animations go, I haven't noticed anything in-game. There are some occasional stutters because they are testing out multiple net-code protocols to see which one is optimal. The game feels relatively smooth and polished for a closed BETA and we've been having a blast playing it. We just wish it had more maps.

Thanks for posting that Larva. It looks interesting. I still miss my dot on the screen though..... I guess Iron Sights is all we will ever get any more.....

Does it feel like a BF game or does it feel more consolish than a BF game?

Honestly I wouldn't know what a console game feels like anymore - I'm PC only these days.

It feels like BF alright, but it plays far smoother to me than BF2 or BF2142. You can sprint for a long distance now, which makes the game feel more fluid for infantry combat. Being able to spawn on any squad member also helps keep the squad together, meaning less traveling and more combat.

In my opinion they did a really good job balancing the game this time around. Honestly, the resounding commercial success of COD4, W@W & MW2 probably lit a fire under their asses. They have to get this game right. So far so good in my opinion.

EDIT: Also, the server browser isn't a big deal. Apparently it's only in its infancy at this stage of development. After the 1st guy finds a server the rest of us just click on our friend to join the same server - you hardly ever even need the browser. It'll make even less of a difference once we have our own server added to our favorites. Hopefully we'll be able to add arguments to a shortcut so we can connect to our server in a single click like with BF2142.

Here's the official guide from DICE converted to PDF format for your convenience. I've posted screenshots of some of the good online strategy tips below. Yeah, some of the "Get Tricky" points can be a bit cheesy, but in general it's pretty accurate advice.
