    Greetings,
Today we release the 1.05 update for Battlefield 2142. As previously communicated this update will among other things make the experience better when playing Titan mode. It will also solve the transport exploit that some players have taken advantage of. Overall the update includes over 25 fixes. The fix list can be found at the end of the update.

Rest assured that we will continue to take action against players using exploits to boost their scores. We will also soon begin to ban accounts completely from online play. While we would prefer to not have to take this step we recognize it is necessary to ensure that players who use exploits and hacks in Battlefield 2142 are not allowed to continue ruining the play experience for others. As always, we are carefully monitoring how the game is being played to be able to prevent any exploits that are found.

To finish off we wanted to give a nod to great Battlefield comics over at Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Though, we are still uncertain if any players have resorted to such tactics in order to get to those Titan Consoles. Just to be safe please do not accept any solicitation while defending your teams Titan. The results could be dire…

    Fix List

    * Fixed Ground Defense kills to properly count towards the Ground Base Defense Ribbon
    * Fixed an exploit with using the Air Transport to gain points at an unnatural rate
    * Fixed a issue that caused scores and ranks to be improperly displayed in the front end
    * The Silver Titan Destruction Badge will now be properly awarded when the core is destroyed
    * The PAC Duty Ribbon will no longer be awarded randomly when a player enters a server
    * Single player End of Round screen will now display round stats properly
    * Enemy Squad Leader Spawn Beacon is now visible on the 3d-map
    * Crouch may now be bound to the same key for both common use and land vehicles (Battlewalkers)
    * Fixed an issue which allowed the Titan guns to be re-supplied for points
    * Players may no longer repeatedly spam a squad leader with requests to join a locked squad
    * Accept and Reject prompts will no longer be displayed in the debug console
    * Titan Survival pin will now be correctly rewarded to players who safely escape a titan after the core is destroyed
    * Fixed the issue that prevented players from reviving team mates in a moving Titan
    * Fixed an exploit that allows players to use tanks to enter building geometry
    * Players may now play single player offline mode when EA master servers are down
    * Fixed issues with Battle Recorder Playback and Camera control
    * Fixed the issue that caused missile silos to appear in the wrong locations on players’ HUDs.
    * Fixed the issue that caused the Squad Leader Spawn Beacon to not be usable after map and round rotations.
    * Added the proper game information to the Swedish install for when a mutiny occurs against the commander
    * 2142 will no longer show up as Battlefield 2 in the Windows Firewall Exception List
    * Altered some player collision inside the Titan. This should improve many of the Player / Titan interactions
    * Adjusted the Deviation per bullet on the Assault Rifles. This will allow the AR weapons to be more effective in medium to short range fire fights.
    * Titans will stop moving once the Titan shield go down
    * Battlefield 2142 will now close after a player selects “OK” in the patch prompt.
    * Added additional support during map load to prevent EA Master Server disconnects during map load times
    * Client Version is now displayed at the Login Screen

    Hrmm..

-* 2142 will no longer show up as Battlefield 2 in the Windows Firewall Exception List-

You are telling me that the prgramming team let this slip? Did they copy that much code that they didn't even look at? Almost as if 2142 is but a mod for BF2.. That must have been embarassing to somebody I can hear the poor sap being fired right now.. hah.

2142 is in essence a Battlefield 2 mod. It uses the same engine but is "optimized" and tweaked for better performance.

At least they put a nice face on it.. nothing bad about using the same engine, but mising a blatent reference to the past game is a mighty big slip, a simple search for the text battelfield 2 in all their coding would have found that.

    Quite hilarious actually.

It still doesn't keep some of my key/mouse settings after exit or crash. Faucking waste of money!

    FYI

Eric @ Voodoo Extreme wrote:Update: I was unable to install the patch so contacted EA's ever-helpful PR contact for the title and between us we've resolved an issue that could spit up an error stating that the install path for Battlefield 2142 could not be found. If you experience this (presently appears limited to EA Downloader/Link users) browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2142 in your registry and add the following 'Strings':

    "InstallDir"="C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142"
    "Version"="1.01"
    "BuildNr"="1.0.9.1"

Once this is done you should instantly be able to install the new patch.

Well move to the states 😉

Seriously can't you simply order it online from their web site and get it for that price?
I know it is too late now but even with extra shipping, you would have saved though it may take awhile to get.
Or do you have to pay a VAT etc...?

game.co.uk had it for 19.99 pounds or something, though I don't know how long that promo will last.

it is listed in the lovely EA Message at the startup of BF2.. that equates to what $50?

Thanks to that Best Buy deal during Black Friday/Weekend I picked up 2142... no way was I going to pay 50 bucks for a mod.. 25 is reasonable...

And it wouldn't be Battlefield without a crash... which I had my first one last night after playing the game for a few hours.. 🙄

Game is what I was expecting.. nice map layouts with all sorts of things to explore n look around... These are future-istic tanks.. and they have the same shell arc as the 1942 models... 🙄

I cannot stand the Pac "Tank" as it's annoying as hell without a rotating turret.. which essentially means it can't run and gun turning it more into an Artillery piece then a Tank...

The Mechs seem a bit.. "nerfed" as well.. the missles look and feel more like BB Pellets then some kind of explosive projectile... I've also spray an area with an infantry unit and seemingly not hit them or killed them outright.. which is ridiculous .. They're also an even larger target to hit and I've run into several times where I got out to repair the beast.. and for some odd reason it just fell backwards with no means to right itself..

So far what I like most is the APC... this seems to be the most efficient vehicle and has a new handy option... the launch pods.. .. The main machine gun seems a bit weak but does the job well enough.. while the EMP blast allows escapes from other targets.. including air.. the secondary position's missles also have a nice splash damage effect... and best of all in a pinch you can simply switch to an open escape pod position and eject safely out.. no longer bait next to the rubble of your wrecked APC..

Also not sure yet.. but can you blow up those stationary guns with your own machine gun or is an explosive needed?

Also I couldn't help but be amused after buying the game.. I had to udate to 1.0.5... and the following day when I was actually going to play for the first time.. I had to update.. yet again.. to 1.0.6... Yep.. It's Battlefield alright..

You know. For all the talk of BF crashing, I have yet to have that problem. With either BF2 or 2142. The program must like my laptop. That or the fact I am running on low/low resolution with the only increase being view distance.

You know I have had the CTD but not often. I have had few problems crash wise with BF2 or 2142 to tell the truth.

Now other bugs are another story 😉

Had to dig around a bunch to find ANY 2142 thread here...... so file this in to the who really cares department....

BF2142 Patch 1.51 Beta 7 is now in testing - I've been asked to come back to EA Testers to debug it.... thanks EA but no thanks.

ha... yup the game we didn't give a poop about.

Played it once, never played it again. EA got my money, so they don't care.

    Same goes for BF:BC2.....

Think I'm going to start downloading the standalone "free trial" from now on......
