The only thing I like better about BF2 is we support it here as a team. Otherwise, 2142 was a waste of money, as face it, a team game without a team isn't worth much. The most I've ever seen is one GRB at a time, and to just pub with this game or BF2, I'd rather watch the news. The infantry is certainly much more fun on certain city maps, but forget that on any Titan ones.
Getting back to the topic:
I tell you what, say what you want but the teamwork is better in 2142 than BF2 usually. You get extra points for staying with the squad and the entire squad gets points for working together. There is some cool stuff they added. With the Net bat system and squad upgrades, it is very cool that way. I was playing the other day and a member in the squad had it so we all got an infield upgrade and we all saw the enemy highlighted with a red triangle or mark. Same goes with vehicles if a squad member has that ability. It made knowing where they were a lot easier and much more fun. Also with infield upgrades you get to choose an unlock that works temporarily. That is cool as you get to play with stuff to see if you want it as your own unlock.
I am unsure what Lexx meant by "The infantry is certainly much more fun on certain city maps, but forget that on any Titan ones.", but I like the Titan mode as the Arty hardly bothers you at all on the ground since it is for vehicles really. The conquest mode arty sucks a bit more as it seems to go on twice as long than BF2 and will kill you.
The air power is hardly preset at all in either mode. I have yet to have a game in 2142 where I seemed to get pwned by air. The only small exception seems to come from the titan itself. Sometimes people sit in it raining bullets down on you near a flag if the titan is above it. That is easy to avoid though as the titan's location is always known so you avoid it or hide and a lot of people do not sit in it using the titans guns anyway.
So far the play seems mostly grounded. A lot of good infantry play. I stay on the ground 90+% of the time. The rest is me grabbing the game version of the Black-hawk and landing someplace near flags. The cool thing is that vehicle then becomes a spawn beacon. Also the SL beacons rule as you can now be a SL, slap that down and get into the fight. You do not have to just lay there when you have that as the squad can spawn on the beacon as long as it is there. really adds to the teamwork and strategy.
I had a few games where they were just pounding us with armor and walkers. We had a few AT guys working together, including me. We got into a mode of one fires and moves to the side, the other guys then fires while you are re-loading, then you fire while he is re-loading. It worked really well.
I can just imagine if we actually had a squad of GRB members playing.

I really think any chase of mods for BF2 is a waste of time, and will further reduce our BF2 playing times together as a team. Promote the hell out of it for what, a couple of hours once?? 6 GRB'ers might showup with no pubbers to balance the maps... no thanx. At least get a cheap unranked server for that purpose. Why waste a Friday NF for a mod??
I am thinking this may be true. Even if we play mods, will we get enough people playing it to have fun?
I do not want a night of it being maybe 6 to 8 of us and a few pubbers.
Maybe we should plan that for other nights and stick to normal games for Fridays.
