Game Informer have the scoop on Battlefield 3, and theyâve announced some details: âSeveral standout features that defined Battlefield 2 return to the fold, including 64-player multiplayer on PC, jets, and the ability to go prone.â So thatâs interesting. We should get to see the full unveil at GDC at the beginning of March.
DICE delivers the first teaser trailer, and we reveal a few must-read details about EA's next big shooter.
Here it is â a buzz clip featuring some blurry images of urban warfare, the promise of a fall release date, and a Trent Reznor-style treatment of the classic Battlefield theme song:
The franchise that revolutionized online multiplayer for PC games is back.
In our world-exclusive cover story, Game Informer unveils the first numbered entry in the Battlefield series since 2005. Many longtime fans are wondering, "what took so long?!" DICE has honed the concept for the true sequel for years, but it wasn't until the company developed the powerful new Frostbite 2 engine that it felt all the pieces were in place to create a proper follow-up. Armed with powerful upgrades like deferred rendering, real-time radiosity, a new animation system borrowed from the EA Sports label, and an exponential leap in destructibility, executive producer Patrick Bach dubs Frostbite 2 "the best piece of technology on the market when it comes to building games."
I don't know. I've been thinking about it. I find it funny that you get the "free" map-pack when pre-ordering but the game is $10 more than most PC games.
I'm concerned that it will essentially require me to upgrade my video card and I am not sure if I'll be able to swing that or not. I'm also concerned given how little is known about the game (like how many maps?).
On the other hand, much of the game looks really good, and if I don't get it right away, I'll be playing catch-up again like with BFBC2....
I'm planning on ordering it. I'm just trying to decide if I want to get it from Gamestop or if I want to wait to see if there is a steam version released.
Sarge, I noticed that it was $10 more as well. I think they are pulling a fast one this time around. But, with 4 maps redone from BF2, I am thrilled.
They are packaging the 4 maps as an expansion pack, but I'm wondering how many maps will be in the primary game? Has anyone seen that information (to lazy to go look myself)
