BF3 Wishlist

I thought it might be fun to start a BF3 wishlist making the assumption that DICE's "unnamed" 5th title that they are working on is a PC Battlefield game. It's also Friday and I don't feel terribly much like being productive 😀

    1. Dynamic classes a la COD4. Being able to mix and match weapons, accessories, and even perks would bring a lot of life back to BF. The key is to balance it (always) so that there isn't one uber combination that owns everyone and make people make trade-offs.

    2. Dynamically sized maps. Not the 3 map sizes from BF2, but maps where the in bounds area grows as the number of people playing does. This is what I though BF2 was going to have and will get away from the 10 people wandering around on a 64 player map trying to find each other.

    3. True cover and concealment. The thing I've always hated about the BF games is that it is difficult to move around a map in any sort of stealthy way. With the advent of artillery and the UAV, you need places with good cover. Maps need more uneven terrain, vegetation, open buildings, and crap to hide behind.

    4. Fix the hitboxes. I don't want to be hiding behind something only to have my hitbox sticking up so that I might as well be standing in the open.

    5. Let me throw c4 again. Please.

    6. Proximity chat and SL chat. Let me talk to the guy in another squad driving the truck that is taking me away from where I want to go. Also let the squad leaders talk to each other or hear each other on the command channel. That would make it much easier to work together in games where the commander is more focused on other things.

    7. Multiple game types. Take the route that COD4 did (again) and give us options. Especially Capture The Flag. I really like the sabotage and domination modes in COD as well. They would be fun (although difficult) on the bigger scale of BF games.

    8. Get rid of global rankings. The split between ranked and non-ranked servers sunk the modding community and didn't really provide any sort of superior gameplay or enhancements.

    9. Tweak the Air Assets. Anti-air capabilities need to be stepped up a notch and even the addition of one mobile anti-air platform on each map where there are jets and helos would make it much less frustrating for those of us that stick to ground warfare. That or make a shoulder launched stinger part of a kit. In the real world, ground to air missiles are something to truly worry about for a pilot. Lets make BF reflect that a bit. At the same time, the ceiling for jets should be greatly increased. The BF2 one is just too low to allow for decent air to air combat. Maybe also get rid of the helo TV missiles. I recall too many times a helo sitting across the map, way out of any aa range nailing you with that damn missile. That or provide a way to hit back or avoid the damn thing.

    10. Fix the server browser. While it is much better than CODs, it needs to reflect more accurate pings and not disappear entirely when you set a filter.

    11. Get rid of the random bullet deviation crap. The system from BFV was far superior and much less frustrating. Your accuracy should decrease as you move faster but let's do it in a way that makes sense and rewards people who are better shots instead of making it random.

Finally, Don't forget all the great improvements that have been made in each successive version of the game. In the past, items fixed and improved by patches of one game have surprisingly been left out of subsequent games only to be added in with patches.

Hell I will host a server

    LOL!

ephil, remember when that pubber taught us how to jump out of the plane at the top of a loop to loop and jump back in at the bottom of the loop to loop? (that was you, right?)

That's what I hope to be able to do with BFH.

I can still remember the very first time I played BF42, the full version. It was Market Gardens. I spawned on the runway, ran over the hill to the cemetery at the Church. There were tanks everywhere and I got pwnd! After playing Wake Island for Two Weeks Straight, it was an awesome change!

I think my only wish for BF3 is to finally get stinking auto redirect download link. I mean, come on, all the other games can do it, why can't they?

In regards to the redirect, COD has it so you are stuck in the redirect, they need a cancel. I was on a server that was feeding me a 35Mb file with 2Kb/sec. I wanted to exit out and had to force end COD.

I think Sarge and I could finally semi-reliably pull of a swoop and scoop about a week after BFV came out.

Racer use to due the single engine swap on Guadal. Nothing was greater than dive bombing the Japanese flag and jumping out just as it starts to angle up as the other guy jumps in and takes off. He use to come over to play on FNF and we were talking the whole time. That made the timing damn near perfect.

    Man, I miss that......
