    So far I like it.

1.) 1 minute after release I double click to start, first prompt, EA "There is DLC available for purchase" I haven't even opened the new $60 game and you want more money from me..... Come on, this is going to piss me off

2.) Hop in "Need to update browser plugin".... ugg FU EA

3.) Get in game... "Ahhhh there is Ephil and Heratyck.... now this feels familiar

4.) Damn, this is a different type of twicthy than CoD must adjust.... Bubba goes 0 for 97 (not really)

5.) Yep this is the BF feel

So I now have a few hours in game. I have seen Drix, Goose, Ephil, Hera, and the VX9 guys. The game is fun.
    There are some good maps.
I still prefer the smaller servers less than 32 players.
    I still prefer hardcore.
    The "bomb" game is fun
The water on one of the maps is bizarre, Atomm don't swim on that map (dizzy)

    ^^^^ TL:DR It's fun

I've got just over an hour in. First game was an indoor maze of some sort and while I felt lost and kept getting shot from behind, I didn't get into a situation where I was just getting pummeled. Mostly I think that is because most people on the map didn't know their way around and those that did were taking full advantage. Second map was outdoor building/tank combat and was good ole' BF fun.

Enjoying the game and can't wait to get into a squad that works together and communicates. Hopefully that will happen tonight now that baseball isn't getting in the way of my game time.

TIP: BF has a lean function now that doesn't require pressing a key. Approach cover near the edge (say a column) unscoped and it should lean when you scope in. Also works on low cover that you can pop up and shoot.

Upgrading from the gtx 550ti was very much worth it. With it in auto it set it up to high across the board. Going to jump in to the test range and kick it up to ultra and see how the fps is. Overall I like it better then BF3; however, I would rather be able to select the squad perks than letting it handle it.

Only problem now is with the servers crashing. Hopefully the updates they are doing will take care of that issue, I have seen that all the HT servers have been reduced to 32 players so if the patch doesn't work hopefully that will.

    HT?

Well, I wasn't going to get this, but with all those names, I'm starting to be tempted.

However, the recently announced 2nd Assault DLC said the magic words, CTF..... Wow, I'm not sure if I can resist.....

HT = New clan that Ephil and Goose are in. They don't loves us no mo'

FWIW, this is the most smooth running BF I have played. I don't notice any choppiness. I think you would be a mess on the map that has the building in the flooded streets, but the other maps might work. They do still have the crap that flies through the air (which I always found disconcerting and woozi-making).

I am really enjoying it although I can't wait for them to fix the crashing issues. I keep crashing constantly, but overall the game is blast to play when it is working.

I am with you, I don't mind the crashes per se, but I will admit, it makes it harder for me to want to start the game up each night.

That is how I have felt, luckily the wife has had a long list of "honey-do's" so I haven't been able to play as much as I would like.

There is a patch coming soon that is suppose to address the client crashes. They rolled out a Server patch last week that was suppose to help, but apparently introduced a whole new set of crashing issues (map change crashes, stuttering/lag before a crash).

I have noticed my client crashes less- Bf4 64bit, Windows 8.1, BETA GPU Drivers.

One thing that infuriates me more than anything though is @#$%ing squad leaders that don't set objectives...this is like throwing away free points. In 2 weeks I actually found a squad for the first time that had a SL setting objectives and using VoiP...it was a blast.

Usually I spam "Request Order" or ask SL to set objectives. About 10% of the time they either say ok or ask how to set objectives...the other 90% of the time I get "STFU noob" or "Go F yourself".

I will admit I haven't bothered to learn SL or Commander position yet so I try to ignore them.

I have a similar rig to you
    8.1 Pro 64
    Beta GPU Nvidia

I have noticed crashes happen far more often on maps with vehicles.

    Squad Lead is super easy....

Point at the objective (A,B,C,etc)....hit Q....done, objective for your squad is now set. If the commander gives you an objective...hit/hold Q and click on Accept Order....done, objective now set.

You will now get bonus points anytime one of your squadmates capture/defend or kill opponents near the object. Your squadmates will also get bonus points for following orders. It is Win/Win.

One game I had a SL that was sniping from the uncappable...it was annoying because it was pointless to spawn on him, but he was setting objective constantly. He ended up in the top 5 of the match with a 4-3 K-D because he got so many damn bonus points from us following his orders.

Just set the objectives if you are SL....it can't be any easier...and if you are in a squad, ask the squad lead to set objectives....it is FREE POINTS! Plus you most likely will get capture ribbons and Ace Squad Ribbon.

That's great info Hadaka. Like Bubba, I've used the SL as primarily a spawn point only. I'll make sure to use that now.

I found a site with great weapon/add-on comparison data that allows you to compare up to five different weapons at once.

    http://symthic.com/bf4-multi-comparison

I'm finally able to keep straight what each of the weapons add-ons do to improve your weapons.

grip = reduced spreading while moving.
Muzzle Brake = reduced vertical spreading at the cost of greater horizontal spreading
Compensator = reduced horizontal spreading at the cost of greater vertical spreading
Heavy Barrel = better first shot accuracy at the cost of greater vertical climb for each successive shot

There will always be love, just different desires. But yeah, HT is a clan that I help run. We still have 9ish BF3 servers and currently 9 BF4 servers. There is another side of us that runs several ARMA 3 servers around the world. I have been able to play with several of you and have enjoyed seeing you again.

I still lurk off and on and am always reachable on facebook.

    ephil 🙂

Oh! If you want the big tip of the day...

Assault rifle = stubby/potato grip, muzzle break, laser
LMG = stubby/potato grip, compensator, laser...

Why? grip negates the negative effect of the muzzle break/compensator and you can mow down people like a mad man..

    Enjoy! 🙂

thanks for the tip! I could use all the help I can get.

I guess I haven't had the issues that a lot of people have. I've definitely crashed a few times (or the server I was on has) that has been inconvenient and even frustrating. That being said, I don't feel that the game has any huge balance issues, the different game modes are generally fun, and the improvements over BF3 are very clear. The only big balance issue that I've seen is the attack boats which are like tanks on water but you can't lock onto them as easily with the guided AT rounds.

The link didn't say it, but it was an Onion article right? I mean EA fixing the game before release DLC for it??

That said, a $50 expansion pack just weeks after the release is stupid at best. Now the community is fragmented, already. And $110 for a game in a month is not going to happen for me and many others.

The $50 actually gets you all 5(?) expansion packs and two week early access to them as well as a few other things. Hence many are playing China Rising right now (but not me - I get to wait for 12/16)

Bubba - I hear that if you put your tongue on a metal poll when its really REALLY cold out, you can pick up XM radio with out a receiver.

(Sarge Bubba will be "right back")
Bubba - no need for a coat, just try it and report back - K?

I was crashing constantly. I have the new AMD BETA Drivers and that seemed to improve things but I still get crashes from time to time. I also had a Memory leak issue, but I think that has been reduced from the last patch.

In BF3 I had premium, but I felt only half the DLC's worth worth a crap, which really made Premium not worth it. I have not gotten premium for BF4 for this very reason and plan to buy DLC individually based on reviews from users who have premium.

I don't want to get burned by crappy DLC again.
