The cliff notes for this article.....

Now, to use the upgraded weapons and bandages, you will have to play an ungodly amount of hours or pay for them. Weapons that had been free now costs money.

In the famous words of one Simpson's character.

    HA AH!

Gee, EA doing something for money instead of for their customers. Who would have ever thunk it.

While I am also all about free content etc...This is really no different than WarCraft or DDO.

You can play free but have to purchase extra dungeons etc.. They sucked us all in and now we all pay $15/month. It is business and if it works I cannot blame them from that standpoint.

It is just a model that we are not used to but are learning, unfortunately. 🙁

I think even good FPS games may go that route. It is all about the green these days and if they can suck you in, they will.

Now with that said I don't like the idea of them just dong this all of a sudden to a game that was not originally released that way. THAT is truly lame! Good thing I never got into that game, it looked lame anyway...

Will they do this crap with the new Bad Company 2 game that I am waiting for? Oh man they better not!!!! 🙂

I think the difference between BF Heroes and DDO is that if you choose not to pay in DDO, you are not at a competitive disadvantage - you can still use all the gear and do many of the quests. With the change to the BF Heroes pricing scheme, unless you pay you will be at (what appears to be) a major competitive disadvantage.

Sucks for Heroes free players, but everyone who plays a Battlefield game should expect to get their heart (or wallet) broken in some manner.

    Played Heroes about three times.
Way bad on balance - forgot to go play ever again.

    All together now.....

I could see this coming well before now. Anything webbased like that is going to end up with monthly fees. Another reason I totally avoided even trying DDO.

And yeap, if FPS's go this route I'll just stay with the older games or just throw in the towel ;p

The funny part is there is an EA video making fun of games that require you to pay to get an advantage on the other players.

Paladin, I see your point, but I think what EA did is even worse. It's sort of like getting free arrows in DDO, then all of a sudden, you have to pay for them and the more you use, the more you pay.

It's ok though. BF Heroes was teh suxor!

I agree Sarge. It is not exactly the same.

    I agree Atomm, that is why I said;

No it is very lame in what they did and especially HOW. I mean you get into this game then all of a sudden it goes pay? I think not... RB!!!
