Battlegroup42 for BF 42 was a great mod. It had some awesome stuff in it (the variety of tanks alone in that mod is astounding and they had a P-38 💗 ), and they struck a balance somewhere between the "realism" of FH and the arcadish attributes of Vanilla BF2 that kept it really fun. If anything, it's limitation was that some of the maps were absolutely gigantic. I still play the 42 version occasionally with the VF guys and am looking forward to the BF2 version and am hoping that I can find the time to play it.
Yeah in fact we were beta testers for the 42 mod. I always had some trouble with it, because they tried so hard for reality that I thought it made the gameplay less fun (i.e. the tanks moved amazingly slow, to the point I preferred to walk. ) it's always been a nice looking mod, with good maps. Just for me the gameplay was too slow to keep my attention for too long.
Although I will say it was also dragged down for me by people who were attention to detail people. (i.e. thats a stuka and this is battle of the bulge, the stuka would never be there, that was 2 years too late, I mean it would have this 2 seater plane that did the same thing but had different paint. )
Not only did we beta test the 42 version, but we helped tested the short lived BFV version. The thing that I loved about BG was the maps were great. Keep an eye out. I would really love to do a FNF with this.

Too bad it is not "THE" game to mod for for me. I like it but it will never be the BF2 experience for me. You can mod all you want but it will always look cartoon-ish.

CRUD.. i need a machine that will work.. grr... I still have my desktop that locks up on all the BF flavors. Don't know if it is Video or Motherboard. Looks like I'll be putting my old system back together and see how that works out. I may have some fundage after Christmas for a new rig.
Good news! My wife told me the other day, "You need to game with your friends like you use to." I can't argue there. hehehe... Also , i was able to rake up some $$ and bought me a new PC. I'm a builder so this is something new for me. I've bought a few in the past and had decent luck with buying in the past so i gave it another chance. I was able to rake out a Dell XPS with a quad core intel with 3 gig memory and monster HD. It comes with Vista but i think i will dump it and put XP back on it. I'm not certain at this point. I was able to get it all for under a grand with my work discount.

I've seen the threads to set the processor stuff for some games. I may need to assistance looking those up with 4 cores. I'm sure there is bound to be some issues at first. hehe.
They are supposed to have a password protected torrent available in the next few days so that people can start downloading as well as the server files. Other than that I haven't heard anything.
