I thought it would be interesting to see how BF2142 fares against it's older brother BF2. From time to time, I would like you to drop by the GameSpy server site and get the number of Servers and Players for BF2 and BF2142. Be sure to post the time (EST please), date & Day. If everyone does this once in a while, we will get a good feel for how well the expansion is doing.
Does 2142 have Unranked servers? Not that anyone would have one yet if they did I guess after seeing what happened with BF2 and unranked servers in the early days.

There's an option for it. I've DLed it over to my server, but I've not made an attempt to install anything just yet. mostly because I am reloading it on Sunday with Windows 2000 server as oppossed to the current Kubuntu OS.
About time to re-negotiate my connection speeds with COX... so I may have an unranked up If I can get some better up speeds without upping my bill too much.

One of the side effects is the thing that helped lower prices on BF2 has been nixed for BF2142. I think as long as prices are running $4-$5.50 a slot, you won't see a lot of servers for BF2142.

I will wait awhile until this has a chance of leveling off before I judge but if those prices remain, I will be upset. Especially with ads, it should help DECREASE the server costs!
not sure the fewer servers is a bad thing. How many of the BF2 servers do you think are completely empty vs. the number of 2142 servers that are empty? My guess is that percentage-wise, there are many fewer 2142 servers that are sitting empty.

Sorry I play it because it is fun, not just because others are playing it. If I were a Lemming, I would have played WOW or own an XBox. I have never even seen WoW or every played on an XBox so..... 😛

WOW is the defination of lemmings. Hell they all follow each other around all night, hehe. The only way I could handle WOW is if all the chars had SouthPark voices. 🤣

That's from wikipedia. I would replace destruction with pain. That's what I was thinking about BF2142. As much fun as it's going to be, you know it's going to be frustrating as heck and it will hurt.

Nope. You HAVE to start out as a Lemming to get addicted in the first place man. You think people do not buy that game because everyone plays it??? That is why it is so popular, people mention it and others just jump right in without thinking.

I'm not seing that from the figures posted above. . . looks like a couple hundred more 2142 servers and 6,000 less players in same. 300 less servers in BF2, 9,000 drop in players though. Seems like both games dropped a lot of players in latest numbers. Still only half as many 2142 servers, but players are neck and neck. Maybe it was a bad gaming night, ppl had other things to do.
