Who do you believe?????
My guess is that we will never see another BF2 patch despite DICE saying that they are continuing to support it. They are likely busy with more content for 2142 or BF3, whatever that means.

No More Battlefield 2 Patches Planned

dAccording to ex-DICE employees, there are no more patches planned for the bug-filled multiplayer shooter Battlefield 2. The former DICE members, who now formed their own studio, said via a forum release that patch 1.4 (released last November)was the last BF2 patch, and that all forces at DICE are focused on Battlefield 2142, which is, unfortunately, just as bug filled as its predecessor.
EA and DICE hasnât mentioned anything about a patch ever since the last one, over six months ago. And they will probably never reveal that no further patches are planned, since thatâll take away the last hope BF2 players have. Since there most likely wonât be an announcement, this will technically remain a rumor forever, just as BF2 will technically remain a bug filled game.

EA/DICE Respond To DigitalBattleâs âRumorâ

You may have noticed when we broke the news about Battlefield 2 and the end of support for the game, as several fan sites have. The news sent tiny shockwaves through the community, tiny enough that EA and DICE for the first time responded to a ârumorâ.
I can with good conscious say that we are still supporting Battlefield 2 and no other decision has been made. Dice Live has been reached by rumors saying otherwise, although under normal circumstances we do not comment on rumors this has caused unnecessary concern for our Battlefield players.
According to EA/DICE, they are supporting BF2, âbut no other decisions have been madeâ. Decisions about supporting the game with new updates, perhaps? Thereâs no denial that a confirmation of this ârumorâ would instantly result in a great portion of players quitting for good. The big issue for EA isnât the community (somehow I feel it never was), but the ranked server providers, who pay EA for a ranked server certificate, pay quite a lot as well. If the players leave, they certainly would too.
Other than that, itâs obvious that the community never trusted the developer, just read the replies at TotalBF2 (or any other BF2 forum for that matter). Until they release a new patch, or at least announce something, thereâs no hope in BF2, there hasnât been for a long time.
