I've been wondering about BF43 on the PC for a while. I know DICE has went silent and they say they are working on it still, but something occurred to me.

If they could release BFBC2V on three platforms at the same time, how much of a stretch is it to port BF43 from XBox360/PS3 to PC? Wouldn't the skillsets be very similiar? And wasn't BF43 done well before BFBC2V? So, BF43 on PC should have dropped well before BFBC2V?

So that leaves me wondering, what are they really up too with BF43? Do you think it would be possible that they are releasing a full blown BF43?

    One can dream I guess......

Steams Holiday sale had Assassin's Creed II on sale - I've head a lot of good things about it and it looks gorgeous so I bought it - unfortunately it's a port from some console - I'll be running along and see the Push Green Triangle button cue - ugh - have to pause and look up controls to see it's mapped to XYZ key un paues and continue but the flow of it all sucks.

Hope '43 is not such a poor port as Ubisofts Assassins Creed II port.

That's the thing Duck. BFBC2V was a port for the most part too and I think it's turned out well.

I'm surprised you bought that with the whole Ubisoft DRM issues.

um.... DRM Isue? and am I F'd now it's in?
(Steam purchase not disk - if it matters)

Some steam games negate any DRMs, Some don't. I don't know with this one.

I think that they've given up on BF43 for PC in pursuit of something bigger. I think that BFBC2 Vietnam is a "warm up" for a full WWII game (maybe the mythical BF3 even). With the addition of the Asian characters, the jungle setting, and some of the period weapons (M1 and Thompson for instance), they've got a good start on what is needed for WWII.

Yea, I get the impression that something bigger is on it's way besides BF3. I just hope it's WWII or extended Vietnam.

    What if.....
What if they go past BF2142? what if they go to BF2143? BFViet-Venus Stormtroopers on a Jungle planet?

Would you buy a futuristic WWII or Vietnam themed FPS?
I was just thinking how many times can they re-create WWII or Vietnam and people still buy it?
(Although I do like them my self - I just keep wondering WHERE the saturation point is for the market?)

the thing is the engine gets better, so as moany ports, it's still fun becuase it's newer. I will almost always get suckered into a WWII theme

Yea, I think they are missing out on a huge revenue source. Instead of releasing a new game, they could release a new engine for the old game.

When they released the 3 maps from BF42 on BFV, it was hugely popular. Those 3 maps were played over and over. And how hard would it be to import and upgrade?

As for how many times can they do WWII, well how many times can they do Modern Warefare? I mean, Tom Clancy games did it for 10+ years, then CoD switched, and Battlefield Switched, now Medal of Honor is switching. Then there is America's Army, Counter Strike, etc, etc.

Heck, Counterstrike was played for 10+ years, then they upgraded it to a new Engine and it still is a top seller for Valve. Add some new maps, upgrade the engine and add the old maps back in and viola!

People may get tired of the same old thing, but make it shiny and new and they will come back. Look at BF43 on Consoles. It was the top selling download. 4-5 Maps made them 15-30 Million. Imagine what a full game could have done.
