OK Doc, Pal and I are stuck - and getting our ass kicked is oh-so-not fun.
    We need level 9+ members.

You'll need to have at lease Threnal East parts 1 &2 done (I'll gladly run them with you to get you up to speed)

Then read the review for pat 3 (Only 16 min long - but hella-16 min)

Having found the library in Eastern Excavation Chapter 1 escorted a group of scholars into the library in Eastern Excavation Chapter 2, your trial now is one of endurance. For 16 minutes, you must protect the mage Coyle while the fire reaver Baasthul (this thing just doesn't quit) throws wave after wave of enemies at you. Merely surviving the onslaught would be difficult enough, but keeping Coyle alive triples the difficulty.

The good news is that you land in a single room and do not have to fight your way into the library. The bad news is that you must efficiently kill each wave of monsters before the next spawns or you'll be quickly overrun. To this end, it is vital that you concentrate on a single target until it is dead.

We recommend two healers for this trip. One sure be a pure healing cleric. The other can be a healing bard or a second cleric (a battle cleric goes well into this slot). You also could bring a DV cleric ready to help keep up the party's spell points. Just like in the previous chapter, we recommend 2 tanks. A rogue also does well in this mission because she can get in a few Sneak Attacks to help drop enemies faster. But it has to be a melee-oriented rogue.

To protect Coyle, surround him with any casters and healers you have. The tanks should patrol the perimeter of this living shield. to pick off incoming attackers. When the 16 minutes of this quest are gone, you must fight Baasthul (again). You will be unable to rest at any point in this battle, so you must have some spell points in reserve for this final showdown. When you finish your task, just recall and be done with this nightmare.

    Starting NPC: Sal Danek
    Quest Zone:
    The Library of Threnal
    Related Zones:
    Ruins of Threnal
    Level:
    10
    Monsters:
huge rust monsters, mephits of Risia, mephits of Lamannia, mephits of Fernia, fire mephits, ice mephits, thaarak hounds, flesh renders, iron golems, fire reavers, granite gargoyles, ice flensers
    Named/Boss Monsters:
    Baasthul
    Bonus Objectives:

    Possible Reward Items:
XP, random item from Sal Danek
    Walk-through:
Section 1: Buff the tanks and Coyle (once Turbine has made this possible) with elemental immunities. With so many magical foes coming against you, the party's melee fighters should have a good assortment of elemental weapons on hand. A +1 scimitar dealing ice damage may be more effective than a plain +3 scimitar when fighting fire-based creatures. Apply this concept to each of the elements
    .

With the casters and healers boxing in Coyle, the tanks will have an easier time picking off stray monsters. Always be sure to concentrate on a single enemy to kill faster and take less damage.

Unless you have a DV cleric, casters should be wary of blowing through spell points. Their damage is great against so many elemental beings, but they can't possible maintain it for 16 minutes. Casters should bring wands and deal damage that way.

Baasthul: Baasthul is the same fire reaver from the previous chapter. The difference this time is that the party will not be rested when he comes. Buff the tanks with immunity to fire, and try to get most people healed up with spare wands. The battle will be intense but brief.

Killing Baasthul completes the third chapter of the Eastern Excavation. The road has been long and hard, but you have prevailed!

The part of not being able to shine is bunk! I was able to shrine and got a full shrine for all SP and HP - you may not be able to shrine on final boss.

Anyone up for support - FNF 12-18-09?

With proper planing, hirelings, judicious use of festival cookies and Bubba showing up at the right time.

    Thanks Bubba.

    Welcome to my thread -

So I slept like crap last night, I had dreams of running Sarge through all the quests we ever played and he kept getting no EXP - kind of like the last two major runs we've done with him.

So from now on Doc, Pal and I will be referred to as the Bad News Bears.

Seriously - we ran Bubba through Threnal East parts 1, 2 & 3 with no issues.
He leaves, Sarge shows up later we The Bad News Bears take him through West 1, 2 & 3 NP So we decide to do East 1 No issues, get to East 2, pick up Coyle and his 2 goons take them to the Library and have them wait.
We clear the map and pull all the levers to open the Library door, we walk in to the Library and don't even give Coyle a second thought.
    No Buffs
    No healing
    Persona-non-Grata

We start fighting the big boss and POP back out to Threnal proper. FAIL!

Being Johnny-on-the-spot Cleric I take the fail to heart and Sarges less than stellar EXP as my fault (again) when we were seconds away from killing the boss and getting out 10,000 EXP points.

We did get a good amount of EXP but not the Golden Egg like Bubba did.
Speaking of Bubba - you available tonight (If Sarge is) to run it again (and part 3 the timed fight) so Sarge can get it under his belt?
That way all we have to do is run Bubba through West and we'll all be up to speed on Threnal?

There still south to do and then Threnal arena..... would be nice to play as a guild again with us all on the same quests.

Don't worry about it too much. The raid thing a few weeks back really sucked and I was pretty pissed about that but it wasn't your guys fault. Last night was one of those things that happen and it wasn't anyone's fault. I would have gladly re-run the dungeon again if it hadn't been 1:00 AM 😀

Next time I'll be better prepared with a hireling on tap and a clear inventory. Hopefully this can happen tonight. I'll know better later.

We'll run our own raid sometime when were all together and then fill in with pic up group players.
But will wait until Atomm is lvl 9 and ready to go with us.

I should be there if my house guest is gone by then. Right now, if I tell my wife I 'need some stress relief' she is happy to let me game.

I will be on tonight. I am now ready to level up to 11 finally. 🙂

I REALLY hope we can all stay in the same level range so we can do a LOT more of these dungeons. We still need to arrange a section to keep track of these. Make a list of adventures we all would like to play, Duck is most familiar with them all. Then someone can edit the top post with the status of them, who played etc...

There seems to be a lot of these sets of adventures that we missed so I would like to play as many together as we can, even if they are lower level and we play them just for fun. I just want to see our group stay within the 3 level requirement.

I have been having an extra good time lately playing.

I have a question. If this is DnD and that last D is for Dragons, why have we seen a dragon in the Korthos newbie adventure and not since? There are also a lot of other DnD creatures that seem to be missing in action. 😉

    Patients Grass hopper patients.
I have seen the Giants and the Named Beholders, I have fought the Mind Flairs and the rocksasha's, Djinis and Efriets.

I have even heard the roar of a Dragon and felt the rumble of it's movement in the quest under my feet, (we died and did not return before I could view/fight it)

They will all come in time Grass Hopper - but I have not taken you there as we are not ready as a guild to fight the mega bads yet.

But should you desire to see them for your self - start in Giant Hold My suggestion is bank a lot of your items, you'll die a lot and the repair will be quite costly.
Also you'll get to fight your first Dragon (mid level) in Vault Of Night 6 (We've done 1. and 2) Remember there is a timer on VoN that once you start you can only repeat every 2 days 18 hours.

Again something we all can do 1-4 as a guild (level 10) and then pre-raid 12 players Dragon raid propper 12 players in VoN 6 in 2 days.

We go as a guild on a FnF 1-4 then a Sat night run for 5 & 6 with added PUG members.
I'll see if Ace and Kick can get UFK to assist fillingout ranks as I (we) know them very well and there always up for an ass kicking.

Also if you want to see the Djinis and Efretes head over to merkentium (sp?) where we were with Wezz - wander the outside adventures..... they'll find you.

Again - when were really ready we'll go but right now as a guild we'd be Vegemite in minutes if not seconds.

mmm vegemite... only word I understood in that entire post, I think some were people, some were places and some were quests... but I don't know which was which.

As for you too my pebble as for you too..... time is your friend - they will still be waiting for us there when we are ready.
Be the Willow and bend in the wind - not the rigid oak that snaps under strain.
    Your time will come.
  11. #11
I was actually just curious what level you started to see them etc.... But all of the narration is good too 🙂

    10:00 isn't happening tonight - maybe 10:30 or so.....
