IF you are level 20
AND you have Menace of the Underdark package
THAN chose your fate with the fate singe
Fates instantly add extra "flavor" and later POWER to your character.

Boils down to this.
(Slightly long version)
Around the areas there are fatecallers (Market place - near Phoenix Tavern and Eveningstar are the ones I recall)
Your class will have 2 or 3 Fates to chose from (originally) of 10 total
click down through the above names and the descriptions / pictographs will display to the right of them.
Notice in upper right corner of the pictograph area - (no picture... sry) there will be a rectangular bar [CHOOSE THIS FATE] if the fate does not have the button, you are not allowed the fate (at first)
As you play the 20 - 25 level content - your fate points will level up just like the enhancement system - go to the fate callers to spend points to either get passive boosts - or clickie boosts for your character.
A maxed out fate string is 20 fate points, you can earn a maximum of 24 points per fate so you can choose random abilities or a string (will be clear in game)
Every class has what is called twist of fate, (or more in the Bard case) which allows you to open other fates once you have spent about 12 fate points in you original.
Thus a fighter can cross to a wizard fate line and pick up level 20 caster ability and some spell like abilities.
A wiz can take a barbarian fate and go berserk and do massive damage for 2 min pre 5 (as an example)
One fate is active - you must be in a common area to switch fates (called twist of fate)
I believe there is a three hour cool down between switches (except for a Bard, who can switch at rest shrines - and can have multiple fates running at once)
Each fate has 6 tiers with the top tier MEGA powerful, but then again.... so are the mobs your fighting at that level.
Example - monk -
Everything is Nothing (min level 20) (1 rank - 2 AP): (Active Cooldown: 50 Ki) Perfect Peace counter increments each time you use Stunning Fist, Quivering Palm, Lily petal, Orchid blossom, Drifting Lotus or A Scattering of Petals. When Perfect Peace counter reaches 25, gain the ability to use Everything is Nothing. On activation: Enemies in a large radius from you must make a saving throw (DC 20 + character level +1/2 wis mod) or be erased from multiverse. If they succeed at saving throw they are paralyzed for 6 seconds. After 6 seconds the enemies take 1000 damage (fortitude for half). Bosses take damage immediately.
(Remember - Paralyzing is all critical hits for 6 seconds
So a blast radius that wipes out everything on the map.... or 6 seconds of critical hits of everything in site and THEN 1000 points damage. )
Ranger's is awesome too.
Rain of arrows (required 20 - No prereq) (1 rank - 2 AP): (Active Cooldown: 7secs) Every second for 30 seconds each enemy around you has 10% to take 1d100 damage of 10 damage types..
Made it to level 21 today with Jun.
Adds one new standard Feat - took a new one which adds one die step of damage for a Monk.
Also gives you 7 more enhancement points to the regular trainer - not just the Epic Destinies trainer.
*sigh* more thinkin'
Looks like it is 300,000 exp from 20 to 21, then 450,000 from 21 to 22
ugg....I'm going to wish I used the +50% XP on my monk when I play him again....
7 points though - that could come in handy
Yah put the 50% on the Arti .... wil bring him out later - but the Monk at 20+ .... why did I stop playing him?
Ran the full flagging chain with Heffty and Al today from Market place to Eveningstar on Epic Hard (not elite ... epic) good exp.
Only one spot where the three of us had trouble - thankfully we pulled the purple named back to a shrine area for the die - fight - repeat drill.
I may actually get a +50 for him.... (did get a +25 when I bought the MOTU - may start there)
Remember the tomes now last through TR... so you'll start out with that same exp tome you used, and the skill tomes automatically re-apply when you hit their correct level now.
* * * Edit * * *
Tomes of learning stop applying the +% to a character when they reach level 20.
(says so in the store and reading the tome description.... )
I need to get my monk through the MOTU flagging as well.
There are granted abilities as you progress up the levels also.
Sarge the Monk is AMAZING with some of the things you choose and are given.
Level 0 the given ability is a use every 3 min clickie that restores 25-125 Ki -
Level 1 gives you double saving throws and +1 dc on your combat abilities - Stunning fist etc
Level 2 For 30 Ki, once every 5 min you "clickie cast" a heal spell combined with a greater restoration on your self.
I have levels 0, 1, 2
Level 3 traverse all slippery surfaces with no issues (mega-freedom of movement) and +1 to DE combat feat again
Level 4 Tumble through mob with taking no damage and no restrictions... to get behind or flank them.
Level 5 Immune from knockdown, +1 DC Combat, +1 passive Ki generation
With those 3 levels - I was able to solo Ritual sacrifice on hard for the stone in 22 min and COAL for the stone in 43 min on normal.
No hirelings, no pets.
- we need to get your Monk over there.
I did the initial fates stuff with my monk so I have the Master of Flowers path started. Haven't done anything other than that however but plan to. Just need to start running some adventures with him.
I ran around today (had to flag Dduck to get out there)
But took each toon in turn - no ship buffs to make it even- out in to the Kings Forrest and learned that Dduck ain't crap any more.
LOL
I did start him down the Sharadi Champion fate and it has some decent boosts to healing and damage... just not yet.
I found that:
Dduck is weakest.
Ian and Timmie are about the same - just different - Timmie is all out damage and Ian is more tactful with charms and dance.
Jun is just a power house out there (and everywhere) but I need to get a good acid resistance item on him, every weapon out there is damage plus acid.
Once Vic is flagged... he'll take the place of Dduck as being the most needy to be in a party to survive out there.... but then again - who dosen't want a level 20 cleric with them?
I believe Jun is a tick from getting tier 3 of the Grandmaster fate.
He is in tier 2 but not enough points spent to get out of 2 and in to three when it comes though.
