Collectibles and auctions

I've mentioned this in-game, but I thought I'd mention here that there are certain collectibles that are worth more than what you trade them for to the collectors. Deadly Feverblanch mushrooms are going for 500 platinum or more at auction. I've sold a vial of pure water for 1,000 platinum. Look for things that can be used in the Stone of Change rituals, and don't trade them away.

Pure Water- 5 used in Alchemical Armor Edrich Ritual (+1 AC)

Adamantine Ore- 10 used in Adamantine Ritual 1, 15 used in Adamantine Ritual 2, done to increase item's durability.

Soul Gem: Essence of Earth- 10 used in Adamantine Ritual 1, 20 used in Adamantine Ritual 2, done to increase item's durability.

Tomes: Prophecies of Kyber- 2 used in Alchemical Shield Eldritch Ritual, to increase your shield's AC by 1.

Silver Flame Hymnals- 6 used in Alchemical Shield Eldritch Ritual, to increase your shield's AC by 1.

Luminescent Dusts- 3 used in Force Damage Ritual, to add additional 1 point of force damage every hit to your weapon.

Fragrant Drowshood mushrooms- 9 used in Force Damage Ritual, to add 1 point of force damage every hit to your weapon.

Sparkling Dusts- 6 used in the Force Critical Ritiual, to add 1d4 points of force damage on each successful critical hit to your weapon.

Deadly Feverblanch Mushrooms- 12 used in the Force Critical Ritiual, to add 1d4 points of force damage on each successful critical hit to your weapon.

Lightning-Split Soarwoods- 4 used in the Resistance Ritual, which adds +1 competence bonus to saves to your jewelery item.

Funerary Tokens- 22 used in the Resistance Ritual, which adds +1 competence bonus to saves to your jewelery item.

I sold 2 groups of 12 Deadly Feverblanch Mushrooms for 6,000 platinum for each group, minus the fairly hefty auction cut. It was more than enough for me to part some fool from his Pearl of Power 8.

SUH-WEET! I got it for about 18,000 gold. Compare that to the prices of the others in the pic. There's a Pearl of Power 6 going for 100,000 gold. . .

Now I have a bad-ass spell-point enhancer waiting for me at level 9 along with my bad-ass fire-enhancing helm. Next, I want a ring to enhance my cold spells. . .and I'LL BE THE GOD! I'M THE GOD! MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

    (clears throat)

    Sorry. . .

I also picked up 4 vials of pure water for ~15,000 gold, should eventually be able to move them for 10,000 gold each. Damn, this auction stuff is cake if you don't have to deal with actual ppl complaining 😀

I bet the DDO ppl didn't know they'd created a life-support system for an auction house when they made this game. . .

So if you paid 1500 and get 3000 gold for those less the 40% fee will you really make out? You will a little, 300, but I am just asking if it is still worth it once you add that damn fee in there. That just sucks! Makes me not want to bother!

I guess you just have to really make a game out of that in itself. I wish I had more patience. 🙂

Congrats on your purchase though, sounds like it will really help us out!
Man we will be kick ass re-playing all these 4th and 5th level quests over and over!! 🙂

I had to correct the number of zeroes in my post, but the ratio amounts to the same thing. Let's just go with platinum costs here: 1,500 Pl for 4 vials, which I can sell for 4,000 Pl total. Even at auction, I'll clear 2,400 Pl after the auction house takes it's cut. 900 Pl profit isn't nothing, but I'm hoping to sell them via the TRADE window, where I can bypass the auction charge, and ppl buy and sell things cheaper because of that. Usually the vials of pure water go for more than 1,000 Pl in auction due to the overhead cost.

As for making a game of it, yeah, kind of. I skim the auctions, watch the /trade announcements, and make a few myself. I'll read what everyone's talking about. Sometimes I learn a bit about the game, and I always learn a bit about how some things are valued. Then I skim the auctions again, looking for someone to make a pricing mistake, like that Pearl of Power. The first person who saw that, who knew how the players valued it, was going to be the one who bought it.

I'm building up this character pretty well with the add-ons. I got a belt the other days that gave me +2 strength and +10 hit-points. By using my action points, I got additional spell-points when I leveled. I picked up some bracers that do almost the same thing as my Mage Armor spell, so I don't have to cast that on myself any longer, which effectively gives me 20-40 extra spell-points per rest.

I'm actually level 8, so I have to avoid getting XP for awhile. Hell, I have to find a leveling sigil anyway before I can go to level 9. I'm doing some farming for Deadly Feverblanch mushrooms in-between looking at the auction. I'm getting zero XP, but hopefully I can sell the mushrooms, and I even picked up a small Eberron dragonshard fragment last night while I was doing it. Two of those got me that 60,000 gold one-time-use rest shrine last week. I'm gonna sell this fragment, and any more I get. I'd rather have some platinum so I can get what I want.

I loved playing Auction Tag in WoW. I use to buy out the bottom end of popular items and put them up for just under the top end. I made some good gold doing that. In fact, the auction part was one of my favorite parts of the game.

I just wish DDO had a freaking search feature. Clicking Next over and over drives me nuts......

An update on recent auction prices for collectibles:

~1,000 pp for Vials of Pure Water
~2,000 pp for a Deadly Feverblanch
~2,000 pp for a Sparkling Dust

    ~5,000 pp for 2 Tomes:Prophecies of Kyber

    ~10,000 for a Luminescent Dust
~100,000 pp for a Lightning-split Soarwood (I'm looking for these, if you see a deal. Need 'em for a ritual.)
~20,000 pp for a Fragrant Drowshood

All prices are approximate. Check the auction house for current prices when you post. I've sold some things for 3-4 times what I thought they were worth, when the rest of the prices were temporarily elevated as well. The Luminescent Dust seems pretty variable (can be up or down 5,000 pp), but that's the most common price I've seen.

Also, the minimum incremental bid at auction is 5%.

I have a fragrant drowshod sitting in my inventory right now....time to auction it.

If you have multiples of an item, do you sell the pieces individually, or as a set?

If you sell a set that is what is required for a ritual sometimes you can command I decent premium. Thanks for the list Doc. I know I did well selling feverbranches.
