Cool info. But who would destroy a 20 just to get more build points?
  3. #3
I guess once you hit end game.... what else is there to do?
When you look at some sigs people have multiple level 20's and 18's
(for some reason vets will go to 18 and stop leveling IDK - but someday we may know why)

So I guess to re-run the world with a more butch build?
Turbine must have something up their sleeve if they are offering it.
  4. #4
From what I've read 18/2's are really popular for splash since the last 2 levels don't seem to provide much benefit. Could it be they are 18/2's?

    Thanksgiving week (end) goodies.
Not the complete list, but what looks like stuff we could use.

    Countdown to Festivult 2009!
    November 23, 2009
The Festivult season is only 7 days away! What is Festivult you ask? The Festival of the Twelfth Moon, or "Festivult" as it's fondly referred to, is an annual holiday celebration in DDO Unlimited!
Get a Head Start on Festivult!

Beginning today, and throughout the holiday season, every treasure chest in the game has a chance of dropping “festival coins” in addition to the usual treasure! Whether the chest is in a free dungeon or an adventure pack, there is equal opportunity for coins! There are three types of coins: copper, silver, and gold.

On Monday, November 30th, the Jester of the Festivult will arrive to kick off the annual Festivult celebrations! He is a disguised "friend of the Coin Lords." Nobody knows the true name of this fellow, but he can easily be identified by his colorful garb and dwarven stature. He will exchange festival coins for gifts crafted specially for the season from House Ghallanda and House Cannith! Beginning November 30th, and lasting throughout the holiday season, just bring festival coins to the Jester of the Festivult, and he will give you a random gift from his festival bag of holding!

Three Copper Festival Coins will give you a chance to get:

    * A Fernia, the Sea of Fire Jelly Cake
    * An Irian, the Eternal Day Jelly Cake
    * A Lamannia, the Twilight Forest Jelly Cake
    * A Mabar, the Endless Night Jelly Cake
    * A Risia, the Plane of Ice Jelly cake
    * A Shavarath, the Battleground Jelly Cake
    * A Syrania, the Azure Sky Jelly Cake
    * A Thelanis, the Faerie Court Jelly Cake
    * A Storm Reaver Gingerbread Cookie
    * A Cupcake
    * A Lump of Coal
    * A Sunflask
    * A Festival Twig

Two Silver Festival Coins will give you a chance to get:

    * A Daanvi, the perfect Order Jelly cake
    * A Dal Quor, the Region of Dreams Jelly Cake
    * A Dolurrh, the Realm of the Dead Jelly Cake
    * A Kythri, the Churning Chaos Jelly Cake
    * A Velah, the Red Dragon Gingerbread Cookie
    * A Queen Lailat, the Marilith Gingerbread Cookie
    * A Beholder Gingerbread Cookie
    * A Warforged Titan Gingerbread Cookie
    * A Black Abbot Gingerbread Cookie
    * An Arraetrikos, the Pit Fiend Gingerbread Cookie
    * A Suulomades, the Horned Devil Gingerbread Cookie

One Gold Festival Coin will give you a chance to get:

    * A Xyzzy, the Hound of Xoriat Cookie
    * A Xoriat, the Realm of Madness Jelly Cake
    * A Hezrou Gingerbread Cookie
    * A Succubus Gingerbread Cookie

There is also a very small chance that the Festival Jester will give you an exceptional gift in exchange for your coins, but what those gifts might be you'll just have to wait and see! Each gift does something special and we know you will love what our artificers and cooks have crafted for you this Festival Season!

The planes are vast and mysterious, and we can never predict how their alignment will impact the magically imbued gifts of Festivult. Each year the Festivult gifts are imbued with a different magical power depending on what planes are in alignment. So if you have some left-over goodies from Festivults past, beware, friends - those treats may not bring the same affects as before!

    November 30th Festivult Begins!

Starting November 30th, the Jester of the Festivult can be found in the following house wards, floating above on his festival jumping challenges:

    * The Harbor atop the Leaky Dingy Tavern
    * House Phiarlan in the Livewood Theater
    * House Jorasco near Coldwake Pond
    * House Deneith to the west of the Knight's Watch district
    * House Kundarak in Locksmith Square

You’ll be able to climb on the floating jump challenges to reach the Jester! If you aren't as sure-footed, you can visit the Jester in the Harbor, where he has made a ladder available to reach him directly.

So don’t wait, get out there and start gathering those coins, because in 7 days the Jester of the Festivult is coming to town!

    The Festivult Tradition

Since ancient times, the folk of Eberron have observed Long Shadows during these chill weeks of the month of Vult (December) -- a grim season when the power of the Shadow, god of the Dark Six, is at its strongest. Dire magic gathers in dusky corners, and evil stalks the night in a thousand guises. The Coin Lords have determined that the terror of Long Shadows must end! To this end, they devised the festival as a celebration to drive evil out of the city. Instead of cowering from the Shadow, citizens are encouraged to exchange gifts with their adventuring partners and loved ones. And by slaying the monsters who threaten the city's well-being, they may collect festival coins to demonstrate their dauntless spirit in the face of Long Shadows and the Dark Six!

Good info Duck. The Cupcakes are like a cure light/moderate wounds. The XYZZY cookies give you "bee breath" I think, like some sort of damage spell, IIRC. Check the auction house under MISC, some are already sitting there for sale.

Just a reminder: These coins appear in most every chest(even in dungeons far below your level), so if you have the time, you might want to open a few the next few days.

I collected 16 copper and 5 silver just running through the sewers in the harbor with my Monk last night.

How are the items for sale if he is not giving the away until Monday?

Man yet another thing that forces me to spend my entire life in game to get anywhere. This is why I never liked RPG's.... They take so much of your time to do it right. 🙂

Only those with tons of time to spend online benefit the most. 🙂

Paladin wrote:How are the items for sale if he is not giving the away until Monday?

They've given them away on other occasions.

DocJon wrote:They've given them away on other occasions.

    Ahhhh that makes sense 🙂

I keep building up my character mainly to find traps and doors and disable and open them respectively. I think this is what benefits the group the most. In that vein as you guys play, especially Doc and Duck, please keep an eye out for me at the auction house etc.. for these items that will help me help the group. I do not play as much as I would like and I am unsure where to go and what adventures we can do to get these things. I am such a noob. 🙂

    ====================================================
Keep your eye out for items that will boost your Search, Spot, Disable Device, or Open Lock skills. Veteran Rogues attest to the usefulness of Kundarak Delving Goggles (+10 Spot, +10 Disable Device) and Kundarak Delving Suit (+5 Chain Shirt, Silent Moves, Search +5). Both are unique items found in Plane of Night. Also, Tempest Spine has the Goggles of Perception (+5 Spot, +5 Search), and Xorian Cipher has the Sign of Xoriat (+7 Spot).

Also, you'll have to grind to get some of the rewards available when you complete quests on Cult of Six, South Threnal, and Delera's Tomb. They are Goggles, Belts, Trinkets and Gloves that grants bonuses (+5 and +7) to Disable Device, Spot, Listen, and Search.

    Some examples:
Rabbit Gloves (+1 to all skills)
    Theurgic Stave (+5 Spot)
    Skeleton Key (+7 Open Lock)
Mummified Bat (+5 Listen, +5 Spot)

Paladin, keep in mind, it's not RPG's as much as it's the Massively Multiplayer Online RPG's that kick our butts. I'm in the same boat. There is some stuff I need to work on, but I'm falling behind in levels, so I keep jumping on to level when I should be studying. Still struggling with the whole balancing act.....

  14. #14
    Balancing act.... great explanation.

I've been looking at my Feats and Enhancements lately (About 2 weeks now) doing research on what does what and interacts with what....

I've decided to reset all my Enhancements to re-align them to assist 1) Me as a better healer and 2) boost out other spell casters abilities.

    Learn from my first try.
I lined everything out on paper first, level 1 enhancements 2, 3,4 ..... up to level 11.
I had 54 points to reset and realign - so I reset ($1200 GP) and then found that some of the enhancements need "X" # of points spent before you can get the next level....

Example: I wanted Life magic 1, 2, and 3 - I selected LM 1 with no problem but to get LM2 I needed to spend 14 Enhancement points before it became available.

Unfortunately to get to the 14 points spent of enhancement amount to pick up LM2 - nothing that was on my "Master list" was available so I had to do some quick research and had to add wand and scroll mastery 1 and 2 to spend enough to get back on track of my "Master list"

Not bad all-in-all but was not ready for the deviation - I supplemented by buying a +2 Tome of Wisdom which rounded out in another way what I set out to do.

If your interested in Enhancement exchange do your homework here:

    http://ddowiki.com/page/Enhancements

Figure out what you want to accomplish and lay out your points and path - also remember Fred in house J for FEAT exchange too, what he offers can boost your Enhancements too.
But remember - Fred can be used only once every 3 days and he needs Dragonshards and Gold too.

    __________________________________________________________

In Paladins post - same for me, now that I'm specializing in wands and scrolls (going to keep boosting them also) so far I will automatically boost the "return" by 45% will bring it to full available heal + 75% extra heal when I'm all done - so if you have healing wands or other Cleric wands, I can really start using them with greater effect now.

I'll kick in some GP if you need it for them also.

Level 9, binds on acquire-you'll need to get this yourself. Can't be had at auction or pawn shops.

and Kundarak Delving Suit (+5 Chain Shirt, Silent Moves, Search +5). Both are unique items found in Plane of Night.

Level 10, also binds on acquire. Won't get it unless you pull it yourself.

Also, Tempest Spine has the Goggles of Perception (+5 Spot, +5 Search), and Xorian Cipher has the Sign of Xoriat (+7 Spot).

I've run both of these, you ran the Tempest Spine raid with me and Duck. Maybe we can do it again, and you can make a deal with someone if they pull it. Doesn't bind on acquire.

We need to know what slots you'd be willing to sacrifice for the improved spot/search/disable item. Gloves? Goggles? Necklace? etc. Can't get it and find out you have something there you don't want to lose.

New news latter is out - nothing worth reporting on.

The free to play relaunch of Dungeons & Dragons Online - Eberron Unlimited - has brought in 1million players and increased revenues by %500. The number of subscribers has also doubled since September 2009 when the game first launched.

Turbine's President, Jim Crowley, was naturally happy. He had the following to say about it to Gamindustry.biz:

"The response from players to DDO Unlimited has been nothing short of phenomenal. We've known all along how great this game is and by implementing an innovative new model that put the players in charge of how they pay and play DDO Unlimited, we've successfully expanded our reach and injected new energy into the game."

The game looks likely now to receive some more updates according to the Executive Producer Fernando Paiz:

"The launch of DDO Unlimited has been a huge success and has really taken the game to a new level. As we celebrate our fourth birthday, the game has never been better and we're just getting started with more adventure packs, more store items, and other innovative features coming in the major updates we have planned throughout 2010."

I think they've struck a good balance between free and paid. I'm having a blast playing the game.... Well, except for all those darn slayers.... hehe....

  20. #20
    Agreed
I picked it up because I had nothing that interested me and it was free.... who knew it was going to eat my life?
I guess it has to go some where - might as well be in a fun non-productive game.....

    http://www.ddocast.com/

Jerry always has the down low on new things for us-
the article is to long to cut and paste but the high lights for 2010 are:

This year we have committed to releasing 6 content updates to the game. One down, five more to go!

    Content and Adventure Packs

Next up is Update 4. This new adventure pack, “Sentinels”
    * Cut the pirate lair off the map in a daring assault!
    * Close down the booty business at the Pirate Mart
    * Zombie Pirates! Board their black ship to cut them off at the source!
    * Root stinking pirate spies out of the House of Deneith!
    * Will you defeat Captain Tew and discover the infamous pirate leader's ultimate secret?

Other content packs later in the year will involve a fiendish carnival that will visit house Phiarlan and a new Wilderness adventure area that will contain our first quest with underwater combat.

    New Items

One that’s coming soon is an alignment change item which will let players re-spec their alignment on their characters. We have also recently created technology to support a new kind of cosmetic item that will alter your appearance when you equip it, but will let you keep the stat benefits from the last item you had equipped.

    New Features

Additions to the guild system that will let guild members work together to earn valuable rewards. One of the biggest rewards players will work towards is access to an all new guild housing system, which we are implementing in a cool and unique way. Suffice it to say, we think you will really want to be part of a guild that has earned access to this feature! I can’t say much more about it now, but look for more details in the coming weeks.

We are actively working on adding another race to DDO: The Half-Orc! Development is moving along well and as of today it looks very likely you will see a large influx of Half-Orcs into the world of Eberron towards the end of this year.

On the topic of classes, we are still continuing work on new prestige enhancement to fill out all of the current classes. Our approach continues to be to focus on just one or two classes each cycle until we fill these out.

We are also working on some new classes for hirelings to let players better fill out their parties with them. Look for Favored Souls and Bards to appear first and maybe another class or two later in the year.

    _______________________________________________________________________

I would have like to see the Druid class - as the scuttlebutt is that they will be shape changers - the higher the lever the more "monstrous" the change.

It will be nice if one of the hirelings are going to be a Rogue.
Anyway thought I'd pass along the state of the nation.

  22. #22
Bubba needs to change his alignment to Lawful Good, drop the fighter and respec Paladin....!

I agree about the rogue, but if they do that, will anyone want to group with rogues?

  23. #23
true on all points. I need to figure out how to drop my fighter classes, they are just a waste now.,
  24. #24
How many lvls of Ftr did you take? (One right?)
See Ron's reincarnation post in Level Up thread.
  25. #25
2 levels... I will look at Ron's post
  26. #26
Reading the Dev logs and ran across this for Update 5 (U5)

We've increased the power of the summoned undead in U5, especially the Skeletal Knights - who also won't do that hopping anymore.)

    w00t
  27. #27
Definitely a W00t! for no more hopping. Stand still and fight like a man!
  28. #28
I wish they would fix the ability to move in low water.
  29. #29
I found a solution to that.
    Tumble (If you have it)
For some reason if your walking slow in low water start a forward tumble and you tumble at a normal walk speed.

  30. #30

    Starting today 05-22-10 - Ending 05-27-10
+2 Supreme ability tomes are back in the DDO store and they are 20% off. 1196 DDO points.

+2's are usable from level 7 up - I know some one was looking for them - even if it's to bank one and use it later.
  31. #31
    Cool. Thanks!
  32. #32
You working slaves did not get to experience the mosh of yesterdays downtime.
    (05-26-10)
Basically down at 5am EST up at 9am 10am er we mean 11:30am nope 12:45pm
12:47pm ummm yah ... well we'll let you know when the worlds are up... K?

And today (05-27-10) they say this...
We are aware that some Premium Players are currently experiencing Free Player account behavior. We are actively working to resolve these issues, and we appreciate your patience while we do so.

    So they:
As a thank you for your patience during yesterday's downtime, we've enhanced dungeon loot quality with a +2 tier bonus! Don't forget that this bonus stacks with the +1 loot gems from the DDO Store as long as you're playing a CR 20 or less dungeon! The bonus begins today, and runs through Sunday, June 6th. Happy questing!

  33. #33
    Sweet lets run some raids!!!
  34. #34
I wonder if I have enough points hanging around for a loot gem or five....
  35. #35
    Running a +1 gem now

Did hound on hard today - so loot was "epic table" and pulled a breast plate that on paper was cool but when I put it on took my AC from 48 to 29....

Doing Vo2 Epic right now - so far loot is junk.... so even if they are boosting it..... it blows.
  36. #36
"oooo look at me... my name is Duck and I can do quests on EPIC!!"

Surfin da' webs and ran across this from Critical-hits.com GenCon 2010 news coverage on D&D

    http://critical-hits.com/2010/08/07/gen-co...oducts-seminar/

Way down at the bottom of the article -

Atari has an announcement coming about some kind of D&D video game but they couldn’t talk about it here.

If you recall Turbine/Hasbro VS: Atari were knocking boots over some thing related to D&D name/usage - then Warner Brothers pickied up Turbine and the court documents basically said both sides walked away from the suit "with prejudice" now Atari release that news....

In the PnP world they are bring back Neverwinter nights and Ravenloft - internet scuttlebutt has it as NeverWinter nights as a MMO.

I ran for about 2 hours last night and probably opened 30 chests and didn't see any guild renown.. Also didn't get any spontaneous guild renown... I wonder if it's broken.
  48. #49
What! A patch from Turdbind broken! HA! you tell lies.
  49. #50
I actually own the Temple of Elemental Evil paper module, but never played it.

Hey, that reminds me. I need to put that sucker up on ebay and make some cash.

I wanted to play the PC game of ToEE, but it was so buggy and they never finished patching it, that I passed it up. I heard someone created their own patch and it made the game better, but it just wasn't worth the effort.

    Posted in: Update 7

When I first began playing DDO, I was very frustrated with the inventory system. I have always thought the icons weren’t, well, iconic enough and that legibility was weak, which meant I had to rely on tooltips more than I liked in order to identify items. That, coupled with the fact that the game doesn’t remember where items came from when swapping weapon sets, meant that I couldn’t manually keep my items neatly organized.

I also found that my personal approach to item culling was to decide which items I was OK with selling, whereas the game wanted me to decide which items I wanted to keep (i.e. ‘lock’). What about all the items I was on the fence about? Learning the game meant learning the items and wanting to be cautious about what I sold resulted in long sessions with vendors.

Well we’ve recently made some enhancements to the inventory system and we look forward to getting your feedback on them. All the existing functionality is retained, but there is now an additional way of viewing inventory – categorically – including filters, a search feature, and an additional ‘mark to sell’ tag that you can choose to use (or ignore).

We’ll be showing this at PAX in a week from now, so if you’re in Seattle, drop by, say hello, take a sneak peak and let us know what you think.

  69. #72
Me too. Probably won't be until around 10 or so however 🙁
  70. #73
Not able to read the link yet Sarge - but I will say getting in to a raid group and buying the endless night juice from DDO store... ROCKS - sty to side of group and do your own killing - the night potion drops motes directly to your bag for the ones you kill. And the raid group you still get the components... win - win.

I played for two hours today - drank two pots (they are 1 hour each) and in that time collected 5500 motes and did two more raids for two more scales.

just don't know who to craft for, but I believe I'll make a few levels for the new toons.
  71. #74
Don't die though because I believe you lose the potiion if you die.
  72. #75
Yes all things Mabar you buy in DDO Store for some reason are removed on death .. had some flunky wiz that bought two of them and they lasted about 30 seconds each.....

By the way - people are also buying the Drought of Midnight potion and play in Deleras and Necropolis low level quests and apparently are raking in the motes also, I may check that out tomorrow in Deleras solo with Jun.

Why not - if I don't have to fight CR20 opponents out side but go inside and fight CD6..... hell ya!
(remember to bring one hireling to move lever in D2 the gate switch.

  73. #76
Had a chance to run D's last night before Sarge got on, running D's with Jun keeping it on Normal diff CR6/7 for the chain all four modules netted 133 motes, while the two times I ran outside with the Juice I netted 125 and 150 motes.

In D's the motes would proc no more than 3 per kill at about a 30% drop rate. Outside they would drop up to 11 motes per kill at 60% proc rate.

Kills in D's were obviously easy and I completed them all in 40 min, outside was kind of tough as you can get in over your head with a proc of 10 or more CR20 mob and they die much slower -

As far as upgrading the hand wraps above level 12, I do not think I will upgrade them any further as these will be awesome out in the orchard which is level 10 - 19 area, if I upgrade to lvl 16 wraps, using them would not be available if I eve TR Jun. and I still need to make a few levels of the cloak for Codexxx (I see her making it to level 20) so I want to make her the level 8, 12 and 16 cloaks before Oct 31.

I think Bubba with all his Clericy goodness may have a better time outside with Sarge and I having easier times inside - I'd be interested to know how may motes Bubba gets outside with his burst/blast and then killing them - the only draw back I see there is his mana pool, I don;t know how often he needs to head outside to regenerate his mana.
  74. #77
I didn't run the full Delera's so I can't truly compare. Running the last level of Delera's I ended with around 25-30 motes in maybe 10 minutes. Then ran outside for another 10 minutes or so and between that and the collectibles I had (most from the first night), I gathered 677 motes and bought the wraps. I started the hour that I ran the second pot with 177 motes and ended with somewhere between 750 and 800, I can't remember the exact number. That isn't including those I can get from the collectibles. I think I ended with around 25 finger bones, a similar number of skulls, and a handful of opals. If the return is similar to what I received the first time I turned in, that hour could net me around 1000 motes.

I basically ran a short loop in that western corner and was pretty much left alone by other players so I wasn't competing with anyone most of the time. I nearly died several times, but managed not too and got the full hour out of the pot.

I'd like to be able to get the wraps to Level 16 and get enough stuff to get a cloak for the FS to Level 12
  75. #78
Man I don't know what I was thinking - with my numbers yesterday - but outside today I'm averaging 1200 motes an hour.... I must have been off my a x10 factor... so getting juice and running D's is a waste of 25 TP

    My bad.
  76. #79
Well just spent 2 hours or so farming and did the raid, 3 of us did not get scales on completion - submitted a ticket and spoke with GmaeMaster +krymux+ he poked around my account for 45 min and said "I don't know - submit a bug report"

Submitted a report and also noticed that when I entered raid I had 11 keys and once raid was over and did not get scale, I still have 11 keys. So I guess no loss over all - but would rather have the key.

On the up side I made Codexx lvl 8, 12 and 16 cloak, so.... I'm tied to the Paladin now.
  77. #80
Sucks you didn't get a scale. Does that bind to account or is it tradable?
  78. #81
All raw items are bound to account, all created items - cloaks, wraps, wands are bound to character.
  79. #82
As cool as the equipment is - the grind is getting to me.... days of seeing the dark side of D's ... I may go run the desert to see the sun...

OT - I sent in two support requests on in game, one on line (web based) outlining my missing Turbine Points for Nov and Dec - they took my money but did not give my TP

I was getting pissed - no reply, no information - just two open tickets. So today I called support and spoke with Eric - 5 min wait whach was OK - and he instantly saw no TP award on the 10th of each month - said he was going to look in to it and I should have an answer and/or points today before 5pm EST.

He went a long way in helping me keep my account (another story for Jan '11) but at least he spoke English and was a decent guy to talk to.

Was contemplating this offer - which saves about $15.03 over the three month period, but the new deal is $29.97 for three months which will net you 1500 TP (@ the regular VIP rate of 500/month) if I go to Target or GameStop I can get a TP card for 2000 TP for $25.00 saving another $4.97

Not a huge savings but with the arrival of BC2/VN how hard are you all planning on hitting DDO at least for the next 4/6 months?

    👍

Your gift from my wife for the DDO intervention should be sent where?

I think we needed a change of pace - get back to the roots so to speak, I'll keep and account in DDO but think it's time to sell everything down to 4 toons and go Premium - so in the coming weeks (Hopefully before Jan 10 my next pmt cycle) I'll be posting up the fire sale items I'm going to shed - speak up if they will work for you.
Ugh 10 down to 4 AND I won't be able to play Durrzo or Jun as they are $10.00 US to unlock for Premium players. ..... BFBC2 Bring it!
  101. #106
Haven't you unlocked the FS through favor? I'm in the same position as my main characters are a Monk and FS.
  102. #107
Nope the FS unlock is 2500 Favor - the Champion - which we all ground out for you and Bubba is 1,750 Favor and unlocked 32 point builds.

    Drow - 400 Favor
Veteran Status - 1,000 Favor - start at level 4.
    Champion - 1,750 Favor - 32 Point builds.
    Favored Soul - 2,500 Favor
    Revered - 5,000 Favor

Cost for a Premium player to unlock:
    Warforged Race 795
    Half-Elf Race 1195
    Half-Orc Race 1295
    Favored Soul Class 895
    Monk Class 995

    Typical calculation is 1TP = 1Cent so FS unlock is $8.95 U.S.
(Bubba Azwepe would cost you $12.95 to keep playing if you went Premium)

  103. #108
    that sucks 🙁
  104. #109
Pulled the trigger and dropped my DDO subscription tonight. Not playing enough to warrant the $15 per month at this point.

Should have posted that my self - dropped VIP on 12/10/10 will stop 01/10/11 Deleted all toons on Sarlona and my never used on Canith, on Argo kept Durrzo and Jun but sold or traded all non Green Steel items off as I won't be paying the TP for the extra slots or the extra/extra for race and class.

The Four I'm keeping are Dduck, Ian, Ethel and Codexxx - figure I'll give it a few months off and see what I can see in Feb?? 'ish
  106. #111
Guess this means I should stop paying 3 months at a time....

For me it was time, I have been through the content 4 full times to 20 and have started 3 new toons on the way up, seeing it all over again was getting boring.

I knew what was where and what to do before I ever walked in to the map. Yawn.

NWN does not look that good to me but will see.

Have played around with Warhammer Online - fun and kind of interesting concept. When I'm ready to try a MMO Warhammer may be a real contender.

EVE Online looks REALLY REALLY cool, but I just can't get out of the basic starter F2P area - have created a number of accounts to keep playing 7 days at a time. But HUGELY in depth and may be more thinking than I'm ready for in a game.

Still going to get around to that Pirate game one of these days.... Right now FPS is keeping me happy and it's nice to just say F'it and walk away from a bad map or squad and not worry about it.
  108. #113
I can't stand EVE online. Unless they have made some major changes in the game it just becomes a huge borefest after about two weeks.
I want space combat to be dynamic, not just me pointing and clicking.

Warhammer was great for teamplay, though sometimes it evolved into which mob was bigger. You find a good group that works together and you can take a much larger team down with action tactics. They do allow for free play in the first tier, which is where a lot of the best action was. There were some server balance issues when I played but nothing that would affect good teamplay.

Thats mainly just the PvP aspect of it. The overall aspect of it was supported by the multitude of backstorys that comes with the Warhammer name, it was interesting and worth it.

Aion would be a true payfor MMO for you. Though if the PvP interests you the classic Guild Wars still sits in its corner for a single payment, cheaper by the day nowadays, what with GW2 coming out.. or is it already?

There is also Runes of Magic, which is full F2P with some microtransactions that don't mean much into you get into the upper level meta.

Mainly I want to get back into Warhammer... if not for that precious time.

Update 10 is coming, new class called Artificer
Cross between a Rogue and Mage that specializes in crafting physical items to achieve its class specialization.

2 new raids, 6 new quests and a new house added to market place for high level (what level is considered high?) quest maps along with the "family" that the Artificer comes from.
  114. #119
Hmmm. My sons keep pestering me to start playing this again so that they can watch/play. I've so far resisted mostly because I can't bear to grind the same old stuff as before. Maybe with update 10 they'll be enough new things to be interesting.
  115. #120
Remember U 9 also came out too so there is quite a bit more - FYI
  116. #121
Yah the thread I refuse to let die....

A quick guess is that the DDO world has doubled in size since we all last played regularly -
They've added a new class and dungeons and items are now up to level 25.
House Cannith is now open and in the Market with 50 new locations/challenges (new feature)/maps

Checked on Dduck and he is still maxed out on level 20 with exp at 1,900,000 of 1,900,000 so the level cap has not opened up yet but the Cannith has maps rated for levels 21-25
  117. #122
I actually updated the game a week or so ago when the new update was released. I haven't played, but I let one of my sons create a character under my account and he is having a blast with the Korthos and Harbor quests.

I didn't realize that they had expanded the game so much. I knew about the Artificer class and that was it. Something to do once BF3 looses its appeal I guess (probably sooner than later for some of us).
  118. #123
I jumped in tonight just to look around. Wow, it's amazing how much I remember.

I'm pretty happy with the equipment I have on my Paladin. I even have a few things ready for the next level.

They have a really cool new DDO store boost is the Slayer Boost. Get more credit for each slayer kill. And it's cheap too!

I have 3700 pts to boot. wow!
  119. #124
Doing my due diligence so we all know where we are at level wise.

    Azwepe - Level 10 Barbarian
Poguemot - Level 10 Favorite Soul
    Tourgran - Level 10 Barbarian
    HowlinEthel - Level 12 Bard
    Saaaarge - Level 13 Ranger/
    Fighter/Rogue
    Atomm - Level 14 Paladin/Fighter.
    IanAnderson - Level 14 Bard

We need more heals...... Colors can work together.
I have no idea how close the level 10's are to 11 - once there Atomm can have new playmates in the sandbox.
  120. #125
I think Azwepe was close... but not positive
  121. #126
I should say Ethel does have the song of sustaining now (Made Spell Singer level 2) and now when it is sung it does a mass Cure moderate wounds at the beginning of the song - then anyone in radius when sung, is under a cure light wounds every 3 seconds for 2 min then at the end of the timer eve one gets another cure moderate.

I can do that 20 times - or I should say I have 6 different songs that I can sing a combined total of 20 per rest.

Does not equal a FS or good Cleric but it will keep you alive and assures you never die as it will not let you reach -10 (so the song description says)
  122. #127
So let me ask in all honesty - are any of you thinking of moving on to play the new content this summer?

We know it's going to be a full new world - I cannot think it would be a 20 - 25 level world.
That would be shooting themselves in the foot to make new worlds and only allow Elite levels in.

I do not mind making a new character if we think we're going to start playing as a group again. Taking up a second FS or some type of Battle Cleric - a straight Cleric is just to focused on healing that fighting is a joke (Bubba should be able to attest)

If were thinking of getting to Atomm's level I can drive Joe like a rented mule in Tourgran to level 11 also. I've been playing solo with a pocket healer so long I forget how large a party can be - but I think 6 is the max non raid party size.

This does not have to be a every weekend - consume your life event like last time (at least for you all...... ) but playing as a group again in DDO would be awesome.
  123. #128
I think I might do so, but I have to admit gaming time is at an huge premium now. Maybe by thsi summer it's better. I don't suspect however I will be able to get into anywhere near as deeply as last time. GRB still have some fun things to do, and as I recall I had just finished a 2nd greensteel item that I never used.
  124. #129
That's true - we all have level 20's except Atomm and Joe - if we can get them to 12 then were good for all the content to come no mater what.

Once they hit 17 (I know a loooog way away - we can always go back to our origonals to assist them too)

    - Sands.

    The Chamber of Rahmat 10

Our favorite of all favorites - Vale of Twilight - starts at level 12 - 25 (now) and quests start at level 16

    Let Sleeping Dust Lie 16
    Rainbow in the Dark 16
    Ritual Sacrifice 16
    Running with the Devils 16
    The Coalescence Chamber 16
    The Shroud 17
    Hound of Xoriat 18
    A Vision of Destruction 18

With Necropolis quests spread through out in the ranges....

  125. #130
I want to run the Raid at the end of the orchard... never done it.
  126. #131
SAME here - never ran Abbott
Also the one in the Devil's of Shavarath area - the one you do after the Shroud.

There is still original content we never once walked in (also Atomm's favorite area Necropolis)

I'm about 50k away from 15. I didn't do hardly anything in Gianthold, so there are some quick explorers and slayer points. Same with Vale of Twilight.

Yea, I love Necropolis, but I thought it was pay to play. There is that one Vampire fight that wiped us that you all went back and finished. I would love to finish that. I'm no longer spec'd for undead, but it's still my favorite to beat up on.

I'm a Demon/Devil hunter now, so Devil's of Shavarath might be fun. Also, isn't Vale of Twilight a lot of Demons and Devils? If so, that is right up my alley. Between my current spec bonuses and alignment weapons, plus my newly created boosts, I should be able to lay down some damage. I need to find some sort of macro to fire off all four boosts in the correct order. Does anyone have any ideas?

The downside is I'm a last resort healer at best and if you count on me to be the group healer, I think it hurts us on Damage plus the fact that I am not able to throw a lot of healing spells during a fight.

At level 16, I'll be a 14 Paladin and I've heard that's when the partying really begins. As for greensteel, I don't have anything.
  129. #134
    In no specific order.
Paladins are the only heals (Lay on hands) that is instant and cannot be interrupted - the only class that has that.

Also LOH is interesting in that it is not line of sight. Click on your party member name or F key location and fire it off with success - no LOS for LOH. bonus!

Yes level 14 IS the level to get to with a Paladin as you can create Holy weapons (they disappear after log out - but a simple spell creates)
A Paladin Holy sword is better than 99.9% any crafted Green Steel weapon - and any Paladin NOT changing their spec to Devil /Demon hunter is doing it wrong.

That's what made the class so appealing to me.

Yes Giant Hold is a great (a personal MUST HAVE) for leveling a character. Good exp, Good loot, Good raid at the end.

Vale of Twilight is full of Devil /Demon - you'll have fun out there, I need to get some DDO points in the next few weeks to buy Giant Hold and The Vale my self.

Necro is a pay-to-play area / 4 separate areas - and if yore going to buy any one of them - buy Necro#4 (levels 10-20) that opens the Orchard of the Macabre wilderness and adds quests
    Desecrated Temple of Vol
    Flesh Maker's Laboratory
    Ghosts of Perdition
    Inferno of the Damned
and the Abbott raid Bubba and I were wanting to do.

Personally I'd pass on the other three.

Making Green Steel is a grind for sure - but you can also make other things beside weapons - which can truly make very heavy protection items or items that boost the crap out of your healing or spell points or damage boosts.

Worth the grind and silly fun sometimes running the quests and raid to get the components.
  130. #135
I have A LOT of greensteel items I think. I think I have like 6 Large Devil scales... etc. Was saving for Azwepe, but if we got back into it would be willing to donate ot the group for whoever it fits best. Though, Atomm is probably not far from some Vale Raids.
  131. #136
In the not too distant future - they have confirmed that they are adding Green Steel deconstruction.
So your flubs can be blown apart for components.

What there working on is weather or not to give you everything back that went n to it - raw
    Or made components
Or a lesser percentage of so if you needed 5 funk maybe 2 or 3 back
Or random crafting components in place of what it is made of.

None the less. deconstruction is coming.

Dduck is still sitting on his 19th run..... need to repurchase the module so I can get that last one in and start the process all over again..... I do miss the crafting.
  132. #137
    Duck,

Speaking of crafting, did you see they added a whole new crafting component?

Duck, keep in mind that my LoH's are limited.
  133. #138
I need to spend some time with the new new crafting stuff.
I've banked some scrub weapons to tear them apart to see how it works.

    keep in mind that my LoH's are limited. < < < LoH's???

5 min edit - Lay on Hands...... got it.
  134. #139
Be nice to be able to decraft... I have flubs in both, would be glad to redo them.
  135. #140
Joe said he's in to 20 with at least his Barbarian
  136. #141
    ahhhhhhh.....
Bought the Vale pack today and ran a shroud - like I was never even gone.
    Run number 19 done.

Interesting thing is guy outside - the quest giver now also has small, medium and large ingredients as selectable items now.

Including special drops form COAL, Devil, etc.... ended up picking up Chipmunk for a shroud completion reward....

    I like that addition.
  137. #142
As usual Turbine conspires against me.

Down time today was suppose to be over at 9am EST - then 10 then 11 now it's
We'll get back to you.... someday.....

You all know the drill. When you WANT to get something done.. say - oh - maybe Shroud #20 - Lucy pulls the football out from under your foot.

An ST load full of changes coming on Feb 22 -
Here is one of 4 dev posts.

    http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=206066

    Boil down....
Level 7 vet is unlocked at 3,000 favor or buy from store (we typically are around 1,700 ~ 2,000 favor on our 20's)

Now any quest chain that you run (Shan ta Kor - Red Fens - VON) that has named loot or special loot will now guarantee drop from the quest giver after your third completion.

So no more 20 runs an not getting that Antique Great ax from Carnival series - run them all in order three time through and all named loot is there.....

Just to let you know TODAY Feb 27 is DDO 6th birth day - riht nowin your inventory you'll have a piece of cake -
Go to the EGG collector - eat the cake - call the Jin, he will offer you any +2 tome and a few other things 25 Superior SP pots, 100 regular SP pots, Siberys spirit cake x4 and a few others..

Don't know how long he's here for (usually a week or two) but even if your not active - log on and get that tome for free.
Bound to character - all characters you have will get the cake for one go at the Jin.
  • #149
Thanks for the reminder. Now to remember what tomes I've used for my characters.....
  • #150
Pull up y our character sheet (Letter C)
Hover over the stat value number box
If you see a value that is described as "Inherent bonus" That is your Tome vale

    Ethel: Charisma as an example

    22 Base
    +2 Inherent Bonus (Tome)
+4 Feat bonus (spent points on Enhancements at trainer)
+6 Enhancement (Wearable item - ring, cloak etc)
    34 Total
  • #151
Thanks. I should have known you would know how to solve that 😀
  • #152
It's a business doing pleasure with you Sarge.
  • #153
OK - So you can buy vet level 7 for 1995 tp.
You can buy a Greater Tome of Learning for 1595 and a Lesser for 595 - and they also offer an upgrade tome between lesser and greater for 600 tp

Every thing else is also separately purchasable except for the pets and masks - those are the exclusive items reserved for pre purchasers only.
The mask gives +1 to all ability (Spot, hide, haggle etc) and a +4 resistance to poison.
The pets are eye candy and do nothing.

The level 18 Black panther is OK for soloing as it's just like a Rangers summoned Razer Cat - because it draws agro off of you - if t dies you call another.
Helpful if soloing but its level 18 and above - if you cant solo at 18.... something is wrong.

Your saving $40 only if you use all the packs and challenges (which I don't think I'm interested in the epic or challenges)

Basically - (for me) buying the pre purchase gains me nothing over what I'd buy individually and use.

Planing on Druid, MOTU, Level 7 vet, and yah a greater tome - who can pass up fast leveling? hmm?

Tomes and Vet are available now in DDO store.
  • #154
An investment in fast leveling may be necessary....

Do the tomes stack at all? My guess is no, but one can hope.
  • #155
The fast leveling tome will give you +50% exp for first time win in a map except Epic difficulty AND does stack with the 20% exp it gives you for any other time you run the same map

Which also both will stack with EXP elixir from the store AND stacks with DDO special event EXP bonus (usual 10% or 20%) AND does stack with air ship EXP shrines (we're no large enough to equip EXP shrine - but when in group - asking for a ship invite is a common occurrence and usually the player with the largest guild level passes out free invites)
The Ship shrines are 2%, 3% and 5% boosts.
Also remember the Voice of the Master/Mantle of the Worldshaper also give 5% (non stacking with each other)

According to the thread - all stack - so you could conceivably have
    50%+20%+20%+20%+5%+5%

    Tome, Tome, Pot, Event, Ship,Voice

I'll say they added a luck streak EXP bonus also but hard for us non VIP members to achieve as it keeps compounding EXP bonus for doing maps first time of hard or more for Elite or even more for Epic

But being F2P you have to complete a map on Normal before Hard is available then complete Hard before Elite is open.

There is no stacking bonus for doing completion chains on normal, and I believe the chain is broken if you die in a chain.

So what ever the plus is there will stack too, but its dynamic and I can't get it as I'm F2P.

Still, killer EXP can be had now.
  • #156
I'm all for the Exp bonuses.

So, do I have to pay cash or can I use existing points?

Does the Tome of Experience work with all characters or do I have to buy it every time?

  • #157
Can be purchased in pre-order pack with credit card/PayPal or right now in the DDO store in game with points.

Remember that all of those pluses are MAXIMUM achievable.
With the tome you'd get the +50% on first completion and then 20% for the same map every time you go back in and complete.

Mantle of the World sharper is a cloak form the Threnal series - NOT free o play - you may or may not have it

Voice of the Master - trinket - Delears Toumb series - NOT free to play - but I think we all have it.

EXP Pots - purchased on the DDO store - longest is 3 hours

Ship buffs for exp is from a guild MUCH larger than we are - so not readily available to us.

So real world you will be 50% Tome + 20% Pot + 5% Mantle or Voice

    then 20% Tome, 20% Pot 5% M or V

But still the 50% is ULTRA attractive.

Side note - I started an Artificer just to see if I liked it - and he has pulled so much named gear that is bound to character and not account that I just can't delete it to start a REAL artificer - thankfully its not gimped in all the wrong areas and is very very fun to play.

The Arti has replaced my Rangers as my ULTIMATE DDO class, and I've only played it from level 1 - 7

Hell I've stopped running Shrouds and leveling Ian just to play with the Arti... serious stuff...
I'd love to see a full group of Arti's - sort of like having a full group of Favorite Souls -

I'm already thinking of leveling to 20 and TR'ing as the +50% tome stays active through all sorts of resurrecting over and over and over.....

THAT is money in the bank there.
  • #158
Turbine f'd up the birthday cake deal with the Jin, they said not to use the cake / Jin as its bugged (perish the thought - Turbine messing something up.....)

So today they reissued cake - bonus if you used and were able to actually call the Jin last try - as now you've got 2 +2 tomes to use.

Check your mail - you may have two chances still if they have not pulled the last cake for the mailbox if you did not log in last week.

    I lucked out - all toons now have 2 +2 tomes HBD2Me
  • #159
I need to remember to check this later
  • #160
I did it last week, though my two main toons already had +2 Supreme tomes, so the new ones got used for goodies.
  • #161
Got a single tome for most of my characters last night. Spent a little time collecting eggs as my monk had something like 25 tokens of the traveller. Didn't turn them all in, but just did a few runs trying to learn a good route.
  • #162
Forgot all about the freaking egg hunt.
Find your video from last year yo posted - the path is the same and first try I got the Ultimate V rank and every time there after.
  • #163
Found them back 2 years - yes it has been that long.

No jump spell or haste required apparently and ultimate aura received.

He could have collected more staying on the ground in some cases but his main goal was to collect Gold and Silver eggs which are worth more than Bronze - something I didn't really think about. I'll give it a try tonight assuming I can get on to play.

    And another one here.....

  • #164
Yah I ran my WF that has no haste or jump and got Ultimate every time too. So no issues running "The usual path"

It appears that with the token of the traveler added to Ultimate - what I've received for all three turn ins of 5 I get a Ultimate +2 lasting elixir for all your stats.

    meh.

Gimmie some more rods of teleport.

Although I did get some boots of FF / Tumble +18 (level 14 no RR) as a regular turn in.
  • #165
Ooooooh, I have a ton of those Token of the Traveler left from the previous turns. I may have to log in and give this a run.

  • #166
Old tokes work - Dduck and Jun had 3 years worth.
Lots of decent stuff and good AH items
  • #167
My monk had 25 of the tokens. I ran it a bunch of times and got zero items that I can use. I think I had one thing that I could move to my FS but otherwise it was junk.

I think I got a Perform +15 ring or something like that if you want it Duck. It may be something like a Level 17 minimum - I can't quite remember.
  • #168
Thanks Sarge - Ian is now 1/2 way through 19 and has +17 gloves.

Having a Haggle of 62 he earns a S*ton of money so I've been running everyone through and passing the junk to him for sale.

I too have gotten blah items except for a few items that will work in unique situations....
  • #169
Shit! I forgot about my auctions. I bet I lost it all......

  • #170
Yep, lost it all..... Ok, that's really discouraging. I put up stuff I've been holding for over a year, then forgot to log back in to check it. I'm not a big fan of the delete the mail timer.

On a side note, the new intro screens look stunning. Even the in game graphics seemed better for some reason.

Blah! Must study for certs...... Can not game right now......
  • #171

  • #175
    k
  • #176
It's a Major Experience Elixer that they are giving away, not a Greater. Still the 20% bonus for six hours of dungeon time.
  • #177
While I've slowed down a bit playing DDO (gasp!) things are afoot - I cannot link the email I recieved and can not find it in DDO news so here they are from yours truly.

  • #178
Hmmmm........ Maybe it's time to give ddo a whirl again.
  • #179
Flying solo this weekend - ARTY class is a scream to play if you have a free slot I'd be more than happy to run around with you.
  • #180
I doubt that I'll be on tonight, but maybe Saturday?
  • #181
sure - whenever- as usual I'll be on vent
  • #182
Apparently Turbine wants all sorts of players going in to the new release in June -
Anyone who pre-purchased the Under Dark pack have received 3 new Jewels of Experience (or some name thereof) and if they use all three they receive 5 more in their in box -
What these jewels do is take any character of AT LEAST level 8 through level 15 directly to level 16

hmmmmm. Oh ! look! level 16 is minimum level to play Under Dark when it releases....
anyway - all of you that have any characters in that level range log on and just look at the LFM's of people willing to spend their jewels on strangers.

My newly recreated Vicodin is about 1 1/2 ranks from level 8 and a friend is saving one for me.... not bad 8 levels for free.

Just wanted to let you know. Even if you don't play a lot, free levels are free levels.
  • #183
Does it matter what version of the expansion you purchase? Do you get the Jewels (or whatever they are called) for buying the base version?
  • #184
I did not pre-purchase (being the poor broke bastard that I am) but no - no matter what version you purchased there should be the jewls in your mailbox.

    I'll tell you it's a bitch going from level 7 then 8 then 16 - I ground level 8 then POOF level 16

All the spells, enhancements, prerequisites, and GEAR - man I made the mistake of leveling, doing most enhancements and pre-requs to max out Radiant Servant and went off to try out my new junk in a wilderness area..... only to realize I still had starter/level 5 is gear on.

Might as well been a naked tempest spine run.
Thankfully I have plenty of toons with spare gear.

But to answer again, anyone that has any level of the Menace pre purchase will have the 8~(15) to level 16 gem.

(Seriously thinking of ditching Ethel as she's a mule now and starting a Wizard at level 7 - grinding one level and then jumping to 16 to create a pale master.)
  • #185
....and another thing is they give you directly in to your inventory ~6 or 8 named items to keep you up at level 16 - bound to character unfortunately -

The ones you would pick up in quest would be BTA but the em items are BTC - but still a trinket that is deathblock, a belt of spell resistance +17 and it is also spell penetration +3 and Heavy fort - very nice - a few decent magic weapons and a ring I kept the others went to the bank which I may or not use.
  • #186
Seems like the Super special Deluxe edition gives you access to many of the VIP map areas without a subscription which, along with the new expansion maps and other bonuses almost makes it worth it to scrape together the funds. Something for me to think about.
  • #187
CAUTION THIS CAN BE USED ON ONLY ONE CHARACTER PER SERVER

    you have been warned
  • #188
Yah so I was off the mark on who what where and when - but did get the level boost to 16 right.

    http://www.ddo.com/stoneofexperience

Who is eligible to receive a Stone of Experience?

Players who have purchased Menace of the Underdark AND are level 16 or higher, are eligible to receive the Stones of Experience from a special NPC, Braddack Bouldershoulder.

How many Stones will I receive?

The amount of Stones granted varies upon your Menace of the Underdark purchase:

    Base Edition = two Stones
    Standard Edition = three Stones
    Collector's Edition = five Stones

Yet still plenty of LFMs up of people giving away free level 16 boosts.
  • #189
If you share a stone with another person, they give you a free one and if you gift three stones you get a Snow Panther Creature Companion. Looks like they really want people to share these and be eligible for the expansion quests.
  • #190
<Ducky's wet dream> Soooooo, I recently bought a laptop. Said laptop was in no way intended for gaming, but has decent specs. Last ngith I downloaded DDO on it. We'll see what this means. No promises </Ducky's wet dream>
  • #191
  • #193
You know... I was going to post a huzzah' for me that I capped Timmie... but I really didn't - I just leveled to 20 with 5 more levels to go.

    Damn.
  • #194
I've been thinking about that a lot lately. What the heck do I do with the extra 5 levels? I have no idea how this works now and years and years of character builds are worthless now. I took 2 levels of Fighter, but I'm starting to think I should have taken rogue or monk instead. The extra Monk levels might be fun.

  • #195
No time for long reply but synergy is off (I think) w/ Monk ~ Paladin
  • #196
Found the information on the new background colors of items.

Equipment Icon Borders have been changed:
    • Randomly generated items now have dark green borders on their icons.
    • Some rarer random items with more powerful abilities will have a teal border.
    • Event and Challenge item rewards have a blue border (unless that item is level 20 or higher)
    • Named items have a blue border.
    • Raid items have an orange border.
    • Epic named items have a purple border.
    • Epic raid items have a red border.
  • #197
Atomm I think was asking about the new UI lay out and saving its set up.

To create and save a custom layout:
    1. Arrange your UI to your preferred layout and options for that character
    2. Save those settings locally by using “/ui layout save [filename]” in the chat window.
    3. Replace "[filename]" with an easy to remember name for that layout.
      • If you don’t specify a filename, then your layout will be saved under, or loaded from, the name Default_<resolution>.layout. For example, if you are running in 1440x900 resolution, your UI layout file will be "Default_1440_900.layout."
    4. You may save as many layouts as you like for any of your characters. Be sure to use different names so as not to overwrite an existing layout.
    • To load a UI file, type "/ui layout load [filename]" in the chat window.
    • Your UI layout files save to your Dungeons & Dragons Online -> data -> ui -> layouts folder. You may copy your ui layout files from this folder into other computers if you like, though we recommend that you make a new layout if the monitor resolution between those computers differs.
  • #198
good info - I need to do this.
  • #199
Update 14.2 is patching today -
    I always love the notes....

    • Lantern archons summoned by Angels of Vengeance have taken remedial targeting lessons, and will no longer attempt to shoot light beams at friendly npc's.

    DOH'
Sucked when your summoned monster did nothing but try to kill your purchased hireling all quest long.
  • #200
Pulled my first +3 tome today (Wisdom) which is sweet as it will put my Wis to +36 (was at +35)

    Epic Hard Wiz King.
  • #201
    that = teh awesome
  • #202

    An important safety none:

    When the walk through says:
    Schemes of the Enemy
Under no circumstance, should you attack the door on Elite unless you're looking for an Extreme Challenge.

(Bold Red is from them - not me)

They IN FACT were telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing BUT the truth.

    * * * Edit * * *
Just got done cleaning out the inventory and almost vendor trashed a +2 light hammer Banishing of Smiting.

I'll let that sink in for a min.......

    Banishing

    Of

    Smiting

    On a single weapon.

That is cool. I've heard of strange uber combos before but have never seen one... wow a +3 tome and a Banishing of Smiting all in one week.

  • #205
If you haven't been playing along Turbine has been having weekly polls on what the next weeks sale will be.

The head and shoulders winner for the coming week Aug 30 - Sep 6 is going to be a code for 250 point reduction from your cart before check out.

So keep that in m ind if your going to purchase something ... 250 TP off a one time use.

(Personally going to use it to get the new Druids pack taking it from 550 to 300 TP)
  • #206
That code for the 250 TP off one purchase is PCW250
  • #207
Character slots on sale (until Sept 6th -ish)
Just wanted to let you know just in case.

Getting one or two - want to take another look at the Paladin, wish I had not released the last one.
  • #208
As a Paladin, I can honestly say, Meh......
  • #209
And that's the thing... almost all Paladin players say MEH... then you ask them what's your favorite class... they all fall back to Paladin...

I hear a lot of I can't wait to TR BACK in to my Paladin... My Paladin... the Paladin....
With Epic Destinies the Paladin is also ticked up a notched...

The best way to describe Epic Destiny was told to me about the Ranger...

The Sharadi Champion (Ranger Epic D) is the Ranger you wanted when you first rolled a Ranger.

(I completely support that statement for the Ranger the Bard and Monk - and would not expect it to be any different for any of the other classes.)

I still want to see one (of my own) up to level 25.
  • #210
Duck wrote:That code for the 250 TP off one purchase is PCW250

Used this to get Druid's Deep pack last night. Assuming I get some time to actually play the game, I'd like to run those quests.

Just ran a Shroud that the guy said I don't care how we do it I just need it done and fast.
IE: Screw off and screw up as much as possible.
(Mind you - EVERYONE was screwing off - not just me)

    😈

Part two kept killing them too early.

Greasing the red named to make it harder to hit them.

Part three (puzzle) I'd knock open a door and call my pet then leave the pet inside running all over the peoples puzzles....

Stood in a 3x3 and refused to leave..

Someone smashed crystals in Pt to lock the under water chests.

First Harry fight I threw a D-Door on Harry and in the mix and caught one guy - sent him to the entrance and the portal had closed

D-Doored Harry in the second fight - may or may not gotten someone, and then when Harry was at 25% health - I scroll cast Greater Teleport and sent two people the restless isles 🤣

Every once in a while.... those are silly fun!
  • #217
    Healed Harry for 2K
  • #218
Too lazy to convert a screen shot - but pulled a +3 heart of wood on House of Rusted Blades while farming today on Normal....

Was blown away - first time I've ever seen one pulled, let alone with my name.
Not bound at all so I can AH it as I don't see any need for one - tough I may buy a +1 some day and remove the one level of fighter form Vicodin.

But I don't think that one level is killing me - still +3 on a normal farm - was about out 9th run when it dropped.
  • #219
    Nice!
  • #220
    frickin awesome! RICH UNCLE DUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • #221
Yah they are going for 2M ~ 3M plat right now.
Will wait for them to time out then put mine up in that range.

    ....then we party

I will be upgrading my wraps for Jun from present level 12 to 16, 20 then 24 - as the wraps do all sorts of nice light damage to Drow in the underdark area.

Got a bit of a grind but before its over... I think they are the only item I want to upgrade (or even use anymore)
I need 1 vampire fang and 2 Lich dust, 4,750 motes of night to get from 12 to 24

I have 106 fangs, 2 dust, 117 eternal keys, 0 motes of night in my inventory form last year.
So all I need to do is grind the motes.
(real easy to do with Vic as Clerics are the easy button during Mabar)

Anything I have left over from crafting - your all welcome to.

    Crafting Link

Dduck and Vicodin also don't have anything either... may work on cloaks for them, but cloaks are prime GS slots for them if I need to add GS to them.... so the grind is Jun and if I have extra.... meh cloak(s) for someone.

Will see how far I get on the 4th.

    Friday night?
  • #224
coolness. The mabar grinding was fun iirc.

I should be around on Friday. Possibly tomorrow night as well.
  • #225
Maybar down until further notice -
Was up for about 45 min - then suddenly all instances started spawning CD0.0 Kobolds but they couldn not be killed - in place of level appropriate undead.

Every time you got a Kobold down to about 5% health it would heal to 100% and spawn a second Koblod.... over and over and over...

Then turbine took it down and posted - out of order.

So the group I was with started doing nekid runs - tempest spine - Hound - trying a nekid shroud now.
  • #226
    Ouch naked shroud!!!!
  • #227
Sadly it did not end well.... I tried to get them to allow us to be able to use what we found in one raid over to the other..... did not fly either.

Oh well. Something to do while waiting for something to do.
  • #228

Same old rap with festivals - broken and they have no idea why or apparently how to fix it - they say it will come back later.... possibly in 2013.

So we're back to what we were doing last week.
  • #229
hmmmm.....ok. I guess we'll continue with the Underdark stuff then.
  • #230

Video game maker Turbine announces layoffs

Needham's Turbine Inc., which makes the online video games Dungeons and Dragons and The Lord of the Rings, has cut its workforce as part of a restructuring at its parent company, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

"As part of the continual review of our business operations and fluctuating market conditions, we have had to make reductions in our Turbine workforce," said Remi Sklar, spokeswoman for Warner Bros. Entertainment Group, in an e-mail. She would not provide additional details, including how many layoffs there were.
  • #236
That's why the Mabar festival isn't getting fixed.

I thought they were making pretty serious profits with DDO. Am I wrong about that?
  • #237
Profit for Turbine when they owned them selves VS: Profit for Warner Brothers studios may be worlds apart.

WB may be more concerned with make it - sell it - profit or loss and move on to the next title and not so much for the hand holding community building of a long term MMO.

But they must have some clue as to fan base and longevity, subscriptions and Turbines money making F2P model.
  • #238
    FWIW - 10/30/12 Down for hot fix 10a - 1pm
They say they found the issue and Maybar will be fixed and working tomorrow.

    🤥
  • #239

These are not the updates you are looking for..... today's update.... um - no - not so much anymore....
  • #240
Not so much as in not happening at all, or the Maybar isn't fixed?
  • #241
Yesterday they were SURE that t hey had the fix and we're ready to proceed...
IDK maybe because they are in Boston and are having connection/power issues....

They did not say other than... no hot fix, no Maybar (again), no further info on when it may be patched.

I look at this as more sport then game now.
  • #242
ooo noo wait noooo STOP THE PRESSES!

    * ** EDIT * * * The DDO game servers will be down Tuesday, October 30th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Eastern (-4 GMT) for a hotfix to address Mabar festival issues. After the hotfix, the festival will resume at 4:00 PM Eastern (-4 GMT). Thank you for your patience!

Silly Turdbind..... Kicks are for Trids

Carnac the Magnificent predicts ship buffs will disappear at 16:01
  • #244
Just want to mention - with the new mabar (its up... yah!)
Old stuff dropped in inventory and RED bag - this maybar its inventory and GREEN bag.

Look everywhere.... just to be sure though.
  • #245
crap. I have three green bags, all full 🙁
  • #246
Only thing I've noticed is after a dragon fight - you get back out to delears and with in 1 ~ 3 min everything locks up - game goes link dead - network box goes red for another 2 ~ 3 min and just about 90% of everyone in the instance DIES.

The tavern gets really full at the 4 min mark ...lol which THEN lags your ass out until you can get out and back to the ship.

Have been able to upgrade from level 12 to 16 to 20 wraps.... need one more dragon for level 24 then Dduck gets to grind a cloak

Remember there things in the store (~25TP) that give you an hour of....

    SP/HP recover in graveyard

Motes from every undead in the game from level 2 up to 28 and does not need to be delears to get the motes. Also do not need to be at level 0/+3 to your level to get them also.
  • #247
Ran around in Delera's last night for about an hour. Did not have the lag/drop issues that you were. Did get my ass kicked by some Giant Skelies though. Also did a dragon instance that went well and very quickly. As a bonus I discovered that I had 1000 motes from the last time I did this. Score!
  • #248
Yah it's amazing just how quick the dragon fight goes at epic level - first fight was a CR-24 dragon and lasted no more than 30 seconds

Second instance was a CR-16 dragon.... it dropped in to my room and before I knew it he was 5% heath by the time I got a lock on him and then we were out side with a win....

10 min of open window to let people in to the raid and no more than 10 seconds before it was over.

One room one kill - we were all level 25 on a 16 dragon.

Still got the scale and that's ALL I wanted out of it. Simple - Easy- Fast
  • #249
Experienced some of that massive lag in Mabar last night. Died twice while unable to move or do anything 🙁

Need to find another area with undead to run around in and get motes, preferably one with less deadly monsters and less players. Fighting with 11 other raid party members and other random folks around for the drops is just not fun.

Yes - its like the code is on reset and there is NOTHING you can do to save yourself other than maybe run like hell for the door.

Have not tried too much solo - but do find that while Jun is the undead killer Ian sucks and Vic is just OK (Thought clerics were the easy button?) Dduck takes too long to arrow them down and too few HP at epic to go toe to toe for long.
The issue is Jun is level 25 ad the instance is 20-25 so 60%+ of the undead don't drop as they are "too weak to give a reward" unless I run a pot.
Have not tried the Paladin but she has just made hunter of the dead.... but she's level 9

May try Dduck in a raid group today and shoot after the initial contact to keep agro down.

It appears last years spots are the same good spots this year.

...and yah - I thought Mabar was better last year... maybe because it was "new" to us?

    KICKS ASS!

Even better than Jun @ level 25 on a mote pot. She's pulled MORE drops AND 2 keys and 1 Dust in ~40 min than Jun did on a pot in an hour.

    I did this solo too.
Could be that you create a new toon if you want to grind turn ins for motes and just ill it off after mabar or keep it as a bank.

If you go to an area outside of delera's that has undead, do you need to be at level in order to get motes? I have 3 keys, 2 dragon scales, 2 Lich Dust, and 4 or 5 vampire fangs already so it really is mostly the motes that I need.

I went to Reavers Reach last night for a little while and collected some motes, but it was slow going and those ghosts are a pain in the ass to kill. Was thinking of getting access to Menechtarun or the Orchard to simply farm motes.

If your on a pot then any undead level 2 + can drop them for you.
Not on a pot you need to be 0/+3 level of the CD of the undead to possibly get motes.

So Jun at 25 needs level 22 undead.... that's why the Paladin is working so well - I go in to Delears one class instance higher then her group (I think it's 10-14) I go in to for a level 9 toon so EVERYTHING is higher level so I do not see the dreaded too high level message.

    * * * Just tried to enter Orchard w Paly - needs to be level 10+ so no info there... everyone else too high level to get use of it.

    DING
    Wraps done.

All I really wanted, now to just work on some ones cloak - before Mabar ends.
(Know when the new end is?)
  • #255
so a pot + undead at any level = motes. I think it would pay to farm motes outside of Delera's to avoid the massive lag.
  • #256
Ran a pot in Delears and it does not appear to assist in dropping finger bones etc just extra motes - and the extra never got more then 5 I think.. so in an hour I gained maybe +200 motes for 25 TP

    Rough guess
  • #257
What are motes going for in the auction house? May be worth more plat than time....
  • #258
1,000 Motes mean vale is 500,000 plat
I found one set for 275.000

    100 Motes ~ 50K Plat

I suspect they will start to drop Monday / Tuesday when it get saturated and someone wants to under cut someone else then it free falls for a day or two.

Not that it matters to anyone but me - but I guess I'll be working on getting both Dduck and Vic cloaks and then upgraded to level 16 (at least) each

But really want to get Vics to 20 for the DR 5/Good - as I'm REALLY liking the Paladin epic destiny over the healer destiny and the cloak's DR and ability slots very nice with the Unyielding Sentinel destiny.... which is starting to round out his fighter ability which was REALLY lacking @ 1 ftr 21 clr.
Starting to feel more self reliant and not taking SOOOO long to solo fights anymore.

So yah... Vic cloak to 20 then Dduck (if I can stand the grind and the festival stays an active deal) to hopefully 16+

Just checking this morning.... 1,000 have dropped to 290,000
There are 2,500 stacks for 450,000

    So it's already starting.

    Mabar is ending Nov 12
High road of Shadows (Update 16) also goes on sale Nov 16 (750 TP)

So I ran deleras last night for maybe 45 min and it seems like i got 0 motes.... Did I miss something. I got a few fingerbones...etc. I did a Dragon fight that lasted all of maybe 4 seconds.

From killing undead you pick up Bones, Pearls and Skulls - Rare drops are Keys, Fangs and Dust.

The most left collection box near the door to the dragon you use to trade your Bones, Pearls and Skulls for Motes.
(Unless you run the 1 hr pot - which gives ~1 to 5 motes directly on about 60% of your kills)

To unlock the dragon raid you start with 20,000 (or so) turn-ins of Bones, Pearls and Skulls when the number reaches 0 the door opens for 10 min.

    * * * ALL instances from level 1 ~ 25 count to open the door (I think)

To check where you are on the count click on the second guy from the left - it shows you how much you need to turn in to get to 0

The one on the right is the crafter - you turn in motes for things and then also use it to upgrade stuff.

So a level 12 cloak of night to level 16 you would need 1,250 motes, 1 Dragon scale, 2 fangs.

Yah the fights are stupid sill quick at epic level. My level 9 paly had a fight that lasted 3 min or so but only saw the dragon once.... got the scale - and that's all that matters.

Ok i remembered the motes dropping into inventory, must have been runnning a pot. I will turn in the various parts for motes.
  • #264
Also I have about 200 eternal keys now so I'll give you all 5 or so each to be sure we all can raid (tonight?) or when ever your all on solo.

The rest is up to you.

Also Fangs and Dust can be AH's not sure about keys.
Scales are the only BTA item
  • #265
Dang now I am sad I spent turbine pts for a key last night... so be it.

So.. ran across a guy screwing it up for everyone in DDO today (shocked face?)
My Paladin goes in at level 9-13 as she's level 9

That triggers spawning monsters near me in my level range - so there was some fudgetard at level 22 running around in our instance triggering level 20-25 monsters... we had no hope in hell of killing them

So I send him a tell to "please stop." He sends a tell "laughs at me."
So tell him we're here to enjoy the mabar and get some components to craft the once a year specialty items. He tells me "F O"

I tell him "we're not here to watch him jump around like some rainbow flag waving Kansas city faggot - ruining the game for everyone else"

I got instantly banned for three days....

I wonder if he was a dev or game manager on an off account.
If he was.... why was he he level 22 in a level 9 - 13?

Anyway - borrowed Joe's account to farm some more items I need to complete crafting once the account is back online Friday.

I have such a way with people.
