DDO Premium Expansion

I think Duck mentioned something about seeing higher level (20+) quests. Now we know why...

Hi everyone!

I am very excited today to share the news of DDO's first ever premium expansion 'Menace of the Underdark' which will be releasing to our players in just a few months during Summer 2012!

This will be the biggest release we've ever done for DDO and it is loaded with many long-time top player requested features including an increase in the level cap into Epic levels to a new cap of 25, the introduction of the Druid class, and our first-ever adventures set in the Forgotten Realms setting!

We will plan to add more information and assets to the site over the next few months and also roll out some forums discussion threads and dev diaries to let you get a peek at some of our plans.

That is just the beginning of lots of good things coming to DDO in 2012! I hope you are as excited as we are for what we expect to be DDO's best year yet! Please help us spread the word to others who might be interested and stay tuned for more details coming soon!

PS We have a big XP boost in-game this weekend to celebrate our big announcement and the start of the year of the Dragon ! It should help those of us who have some characters to level and get ready to face the dangers we will face in the Underdark!

I would just like to point out that this sounds a lot like the classic AD&D module, Queen of the Demonweb Pits which was actually set in Greyhawk and not Forgotten Realms.

Wow, if I thought I could get to level 20 in a decent amount of time, I'd jump all over this. Not to mention that I'm not sure that I even like my darn Paladin......

I had enough of my Pali. I know people LOVE them, I know they are THE BEST damage dealers in the game (above level 14)
I could not handle her anymore over level 11 - I just could not be bothered to play her.
But then again - I still want one - just not in the F2P realm.

Same for a finger wiggler - I've tried 3x to make a Sorc or Wiz work. all never got past level 10

Ranger is still the class that suits me best - ranged ranger - my new build will be 11 Ranger (Dual wielding Tempest though) but points put in bow also and 4 Rogue with points spent on every level to max out locks&traps and 5 fighter to boost the dual weapon damage.

Working out well (level 7) so far.

And getting to 20 - when ever your ready.

Dduck is still 20 (thankfully I never TR'd him and still have Jun (Monk) 20 but is locked at this time as I need to spend points to unlock the Monk in F2P mode.
But he is still ready to roll too.

In your opinion, what is the easiest, most fun to play character? I really did like the game, but the Paladin was getting boring. I'm at lvl 14 12Pal/2Fig. If I remember correctly, at level 14 Paladin, it starts to become really fun. Maybe I should just stick it out.

Dang you man. I don't have time for this. But I really miss it.

I guess it's time to see if the new monitor helped me any in DDO.

My very favorite is a ranged spec Ranger.
While they have the lowest DPS in game, I never feel under gunned.
With many shot - improved precise shot and green steel long bows - I can (and typically do) rank as the number one killer in any party.

I just don't need to run up to or get in to casting range for a kill. If I can see it I can typically kill it before you can run up to it.


I liked the Monk for pure DPS - it never felt grindy getting to 20 but it is almost as button mashing intensive as the pally. So if you don't want to or can't get in to F1 fight F4 F3 fight F1 F2 fight - skip both classes (as you know)

Warchanter Bard is good too - very self sufficient - but VERY charisma dependent - so that class takes gear to make up for all the points you burn to make him good. But once you hit Warchanter II
All the buffs you can sing and for protection, damage and speed really make it fun.

Plus you get a mix of both Cleric and Wizard spells, and with Charisma so high - put everything you can in to Use Magic Device - so you can use all Cleric/Sroc/Wiz scrolls and wands with zero failure.

Nice to have stone skin - teleport - raise dead on a fighter class with no fail.

I really liked the Monk a lot. My Favored Soul was a lot of fun too - less button mashing for sure. The FS is only level 10 so I didn't get to all of the really cool stuff in the higher levels.

btw, paid the $ to unlock the monk class, or actually one of my sons did. He really likes D&D and wanted to make a halfling monk for the times he gets to run around in the game.

GRB (lvl 20 Straight Cleric) was fun but stressful

Azwepe Half Orc Barb was fun in the BREAKSHIT type way.

The Ranger I had for a while was WAAAAAAYYYYY fun.

My paladin sucked balls.

I still own Azwepe and GRB, don't remember what level buubaar was, maybe 12.

If I have any chance of getting back into this and keeping up with you guys, I'll have to play my Paladin. I just don't have time to research, learn a new class, plus level it up to 20.

Hell, I don't even remember which path I was taking. I might have been 18Pal/2Rog. I simply can't remember any more.

I jumped into the DDO forums and it was very overwhelming. I've forgotten a ton of stuff. I know I put my builds into the forums, so I think I can find them again, but I have no idea if they are still relevant any more.

Duck, what level are you at the moment?

(JunFann - Dark Monk - 20 - locked because I'm F2P now)

If you don't have it Atomm, buy up to veteran status and you can start a new character at level 4 which shortens the rank up time by a lot. I found that with my FS character I was able to level more quickly because we could do the quests on hard or elite often simply because we knew what was coming and how hard it would be.

Only for VIP Sarge - as F2P I have to do all maps on Normal first - Hard and "E" is locked and I have vet and 32 point builds unlocked.

Though I was able to start at level 4 when creating a new toon as a F2P
