So I just experienced my first queue for DDO. I have not seen it prior. Is this a new thing they are trying to encourage subscribing?
DDO Queues

#1 -
#2 I thought I read before that VIP's get higher queue access back when we first started playing. It sounds like they just started enforcing it because I've been disconnected in the past. -
#3 That would not surprise me. If you think about it is is a smart idea from a business standpoint.
Lets allow free play but give them just a tastes of things. If they want to play all the cool adventures make them pay. If they want to log in in a reasonable time, make them pay.
Smart for them , bad for the Free players. -
#4 If it were me..... I'd just run to the front of the line and just ignore every one standing around waiting.
That's just me though. -
#5 Duck wrote:If it were me..... I'd just run to the front of the line and just ignore every one standing around waiting.

You do know we are talking about logging into the game right? 🙂
There is no actual line, the free players have no choice, there is no actual queue to stand in... 🙂 -
#6 Paladin, it was a poke at Silent's playing style.
He runs a head. gets in to fights, sends us on to disarray of where's Silent (again) tells us he's a fighter - that's what he does. Then he bitches at you for getting three steps in front of him.
I know, I know, I know - Paladin - Rouge - Squishy. Silent - Fighter - hard shelled.
Just trying to get it out of my system.
Ignore what the idiot has to say (as usual) -
#7 HAHAHAHA!
Good Times...... -
#8 No that was actually a good one Duck. I just did not get the reference at first 🙂
Yes Cold does that. We say over and over to let me go first for traps but then where is he, down the hall, already through the trap on the other side of it way ahead 🙂 -
#9 Hey, it's his Healing Pots...... :-) -
#10 My healing pots and/or dam reduction.
In all honesty though in the dungeons now I typically stay right at Paladin's heels, its the open areas that I like to charge ahead in, less likelihood of traps.
[On a side note I was bitching because at Pal because he was interfering with the pull of creatures [outside] I was trying to make as my big arx likes to hit more than one thing at a time.. as does Doc's flame, after duck was telling us not to move a foot because we couldn't] -
#11 We'll figure this stuff out......
I'm just now starting to get the hang of Intimidate.....
And I got my big mega-heal spell. All HP plus a ton of bonuses including negate death penalty.... -

Unyielding Sovereignty - good stuff, problem is it's a 10 min cool down, that's why I did not take it. The healing buffs for me that I would give up outweighed taking one massive heal that I could only use once every 10 min. -

How was I interfering? I am not arguing, just asking. I see creatures, I run in and attack, trying to help. I always make an extra effort to attack stuff that attacks Doc as his character is weak armour wise and everything seems attracted to him.
What I do not understand is your spells and attacks do not hit me and mine do not interfere with yours so what is the problem? Friendly fire is basically off etc... 🙂
Sometimes I feel that we do not communicate and work together. We have always had this problem gaming. I agree with Atomm though, we will work it out.
Next time you don't want me doing something or want me to do something, just tell me man. 🙂
If I am messing you guys up or you don't really want me playing, let me know. It is no problem, I can back out. The last thing I want to do is piss people off gaming wise. -
#14 [Tough love]
Paladin S.T.F.U. I not only like playing (um...) with you, but find that we die more often with out you.
[/Tough Love]
Really - don't worry about who thinks what about your playing.
You having fun?
That's all that matters.
You worry to much. -

Though I will say, when we have Paladin with us I don't really see the need to run through traps before we disable them, it seems like a waste of my spell points to heal you afterward. I think if we thought a little bit more and worked a little more as a group we would do alot better. When i can cast offensive spells they are very effective, the problem being I cast the spell and get owned. I try to protect Doc, I still think we should approach dungeons in a triangle pattern almost. Sarge an Paladin always in front and paladin falls back when there is a fight. Silent in front at fight times. Atomm in the middle, Doc, Duck and myself in the back casting heals and offfensive spells.
My mace does ok as a weapon but its probbaly 5 of my hits to every one of silents. My spells do alot of good, but like I said I always get owned if I do them. I think if we try to protect the spell casters a little we would be much more successful. -
#16 Yea Paladin, don't get so serious about this..... It'll just mess things up....
Silent, do you have Intimidate? If so, we both need to start using that more.
The other night I was playing with Doc and I focused more on using Intimidate. I think it worked as more creatures stayed on me and I wasn't always chasing everything back to Doc. The biggest problem is I am not nearly as effective with Intimidate as a Human Fighter, but I'll do my best.
Bubba, if you ever decide to reroll, take a Human Fighter. I think that's what we really need. A good solid tank and I'm sure you'll enjoy playing it.
Duck, it wasn't an either/or for me. The only other things I could have done were increase my HP by 10 or add +1 to my attack. I thought this was worth having, if for nothing else, it makes soloing a heck of a lot easier when I'm trying to catch up to you guys in level. :-)
I have one Bubble left before 7. Can't remember if that means I have to rank twice, but I'm gaining. -
#17 Yah it works well with Bubba using Cleric offensive spells and I'm healBOT
I have gotten use to sound blast though Bubba and yah it does a great job with STUN for 6 sec / caster level...
Fought my first Beholder today.... I think I pooped my pants when we opend the door and there it was hovering in ari all eyes shootin' different spells at us.
Thankfully we decided NORMAL and not HARD.
Finally got a +3 Ghost touch mace out of it.... a GT weapon I can use at normal not -4 like I was trying to use with the kukri.

Is there a reason I need to back out of the fight? Granted I am not nearly as efficient as a fighter but typically hold my own. I usually have as many kills as the middle of the group+.
I do very well when I get behind creatures and do very well when I sneak up on them.
I just want to help, is that so wrong 🙂
One problem is if I do not pay attention when my HP gets low, then one good hit and I am dead. I usually try to do well at backing out when I get low and taking potions but not always 🙁
That is when I just die and then you guys have to grab my stone.. It seems like I am usually accompanied by someone else so I don't feel too bad. 🙂
I will try to back out earlier then I usually do and avoid death. I just hate seeing you guys getting attacked and want to rush in 🙂
My MAIN problem is I get incapacitated and never seem to be able to stop the bleeding then I die. I have to work on that one... 🙂 -
#19 Paladin wrote:My MAIN problem is I get incapacitated and never seem to be able to stop the bleeding then I die. I have to work on that one... 🙂
I can help you with that... let me knwo when you are incapacitated. As for falling back, I just thought you were less armored. But basically my point is I think we need three levels of attack. -
#20 Also my main part PAL, that's why my Cleric is typically never in the front or middle - when the big fights start my eyes are not on the fight but every ones health bar.
When the fight is ending I try to get in - just for a kill or two, or I fight when they break through the back line and get to Doc and I - that's when I lose track of the party health when I'm watching mine in a fight.
But all in all - I'm in the rear just watching the red bars and healing as needed.
My job as the HealBOT - it's what I chose to do. -
#21 Paladin wrote:I will try to back out earlier then I usually do and avoid death. I just hate seeing you guys getting attacked and want to rush in 🙂
Cover me and the healBOT. You got a good bow to take potshots at them from a distance, and you can backstab 'em when they're after me and Duck. If things start to whittle down to the last couple guys, move up and get your backstabs in.
And just so you know, a trap specialist is SORELY missed when you're not around. Sarge does what he can, but his level of rogue is just an insurance policy.
All about Rogues: skills and what you need at higher levels, etc.

#22 LOL I played a PUG today that had a Lvl8 Rouge and she found traps by missing the warning, running in to them and dieing.
I SWEAR that was her find trap skill, death. -

First a situational, my comments were based when we were outside all in a itty bitty group and I was coaxing the baddies over in a nice bunch expecting them all to come together in a nice big happy family. Once I saw we had their attention I called out to back up, not explaining that I was looking to get them bunched up in a nice packet of dead. After the group that came over the hill I realize that Paladin is still fighting, away from the fight over the hill as I repeat the back up and then just go down and kill them with him, no big problem. Then Paladin begins to tirade at me over 'getting on him' to pull back because I always run ahead -and get bitched at because of it [20% run speed bonus]. That was what my sidebar comment was in reference to. Not about 'not wanting to play' don't drama queen it out.
Now as I see it when monsters are involved I should be the main one 'ahead' or out scouting. and while traps are involved Paladin better be either up with/ahead of me or I am too far ahead and being a bit of a risk on anything past a normal dungeon. I do have a safety in my DR, active trap dodging & HP. Frontline crazy type. Now I will take the risk if I see there is a bunch of cleric/archer/wizard type enemies that are charging forward.
Now the rogue class is set up for some crazy DPS as well as the Barb, difference being the Rogue seems to be a bit better at single target damage while I do GREAT at groups. The barb has the big swing that hits just about everyone in front of him and has the damage resistance to take the heat from all the angries, and yes I do use Intimidate just need to get better at spamming it. As a rogue you can dish it out really great and you can spot the traps really great as well.
Now as a barbarian I dish it out great to one mob, but with my build its better to be in the midst of a group the more the stronger I am, the smaller the group the less effective I am. I take the hit when its a cleric/mage type enemy or when they are charging Doc but when I call for a fall back because the groups are coming together nicely and I don't have to waste damage potential if there isn't a valid reason.
Just don't bitch at me for calling for a fall back, especially when I don't bitch at you or anyone else for calling for me to pull back. I have been making an effort to stay behind/with you in dungeons only rushing ahead when enemies are in sight and I can get a jump on a ranged type, I can only hope you would stay back in the open field when I ask for that. AS I was asking for that, communicating and all, I only said something to you about being all alone because I had been calling for a fall back. 😢 Kinda game breaking, though other things happened that night that soured the experience a bit for me. 🤦
/tldr
-Synopsis
Barb=Group attack ie. more enemies together make barb happier
Rouge=Single Target/Traps ie. 1st man in a dungeon = much happy, 1st man in the open field v. tons of enemies, not so happy
On normal runs doesn't really matter so much, on Hard through to Elite.. it matters.
Oh and don't be a sensie. -

Look! I am trying here okay. I don' t know exactly WTF I type to get this but cut the SH&^!
I add smileys, I type that everything is cool and I am not mad etc... and STILL am called a drama queen. Now STOP IT or I will start yelling and throwing stuff around. 🙂Silent Cold wrote:Just don't bitch at me for calling for a fall back, especially when I don't bitch at you or anyone else for calling for me to pull back. Dude, I am always good at doing what I am told, you guys play a lot more than I do so I let you lead... I probably just did not hear you. Sorry about that okay... 😉
Sometimes people talk over each other in vent and things that are said get lost in it. It happens... If I run off just yell at me, its cool. I am all about team work man, always have been. I am many things but a loner is not one of them.
I also will say now that there are times when I am playing I am VERY tired running on fumes. So i am not always thinking clearly or playing my best... Damn meds...Silent Cold wrote:Kinda game breaking, though other things happened that night that soured the experience a bit for me. 🤦

What other things? Come on, lets get this out now..... 🙂Silent Cold wrote:Oh and don't be a sensie.
Again.... How many smileys do I have to add for you to understand that what I typed is all in humor and to be read as light hearted, just friends breaking balls??????
This happens to me all the time and I am about done trying to figure it out....
FROM NOW ON SMILEYS == HUMOR, read light hearted!!!!! Sheesh 🙂 -
#25 Paladin. Don't take this wrong because I'm saying it to be an ass, but your posts come across as emotional and such appear to include drama. It is what it is. No one's pointing fingers to be a jerk. We are just trying to work all of this out. Team work is never easy, but we all have to learn each others strengths and weakness so that we can be better players ourselves. Not to mention we are learning our own characters at the same time.
Well, now I'm glad we got that all worked out. Let's keep it friendly.
As a Tanky Type, I need to do a better job of Intimidate. Silent does as well. I can't hit multiple creatures, but I do want multiple creatures hitting on me because I can take it. While they are doing that, I hope the rest of the team is free to damage at will. That's where I see you Paladin. Taking them out from behind while they are hitting on me. -

Sheesh.. just effin with ya..
damn sensies.
On the intimidate note, my stats aren't really set for Int, but that is where I put ALL of my skill points, besides jump and balance, and those are almost always maxed for my level anyways. When I hit my intim I normally drag one or two people towards me, even in big groups. Most of my hate is driven from the damage output. Doc gets a big swig of hate for the first big hits sometiems, others it just appears he is wandering with a big meatsteak around his neck.. heh. -
#27 Well I don't know what else to do when I post then. All I have are smileys to convey that the preceding was to be read as light hearted, if that no longer works then I got nothing.
So when did the smiley start meaning something else? 😉 -
#28 I went VIP last night so I now don't need to worry about Queues any longer 😀

#35 Well, I'm spamming it more than I use to.
Might have to write a macro that ties it to my attack. :-)
