Dual Class / Multi Class

Not sure if the game differentiates like the D&D rules do, but I'm already sick of losing my cash in heal potions with my Barbarian.

What happens if I make him a dual Barbarian / Cleric?
(Should have taken a Cleric on the outset...)
At least I could heal myself when needed - but how does the game handle it?
Searched the DDO forums but no hits on Dual call or Multi class

Do I stop being a Barb and start out as a Cleric LvL1 and work up to LvL6 and then split EXP or do they keep leveling at the same time splitting EXP as it goes?

Seriously thinking about powering a Cleric for next week - or starting a warforged Cleric next month.

It's ok Duck. I still have questions about Multiclass.

And Bubba needs to figure out how to switch to a paladin anyway. He's too trigger happy to be a cleric..... :-)

Bubba - if you want to go another path, I'll roll a Cleric for us - I like them also - although my Brb is coming along nicely.

Atomm multiclass has it's pros and cons follow links above some classes are additive some are negatory, like my Barbarian / Cleric would be a suck multi.

My Ranger/Rogue has for the most part worked out well. It gives me enough of a boost in trap detection/disabling and opening locks that we can get through many traps - certainly not as well as Paladin can, but it always helps to have some overlap in most cases.

I need to figure out a way to boost my character's intelligence more so that I can do spells because I have the ability to heal and camoflauge and a few others. My character is either too stupid (10 int w/ +1 ring) or I am doing it wrong. I need to figure that out.

I also need to get my exotic weapons training so that I can dual weild my +2 Bastard Swords 😈

As far as dual-classing, you really shouldn't dual class with something that is going to hurt your player, or severely limit its overall effectiveness. But at the same time you should pick whatever is going to be fun and enjoy it.

For example I have my cleric as a 15clr/1pal, with the final 4 levels I will be debating as I play it to go either 3 paladin or 19 cleric due to the immunities paladins get. My Barbarian is not going to dualclass mainly because at lvl 20 I get some pretty nice enhancements if I stick with Barbarian, on top of that the only classes that would go decent would be another str/con based class as those are the 'only' stats that are worth mentioning on him. Not to mention if I 'really' needed some healing on my barb outside of pots,'wands would work with a bit of UMD. But I would rather depened on a cleric, my own hireling or other PC.

Edit:Before you go too deep, remember that the only way to get a great build multi-class is to start it from scratch yourself, the generic path that is specc'ed out for you via the paths may or may not be optimal for what you are trying to do, on top of that you need to plan out what the next steps are going to be. ah that's what I read about dual classing you need to pick complementary classes and nothing really compliments a Brb.
Ph well I'll just ride this wagon for all the fun I can get out of it. Starting to find items that are helping quite a bit now too, and my attacks per "round" are now 1,1,2,1,2,2 repeat as long as I keep using weapons in each hand and not go with my favorite 2 handed ax.
So in each hand I have some +3 ax's and for skeleton and erth elementals I have a pair of +2 hammers.

I lose my ax bonuses, ut still effective.

    Brb stays single class.

Dang Silent... When did you manage to get 16 levels? That's nuts......
