For more AC - do you mind the penalty to your "to hit" if I find you some real good Heavy armor?

I think your bracers aren't doing squat for you - check by taking them off and verifying your AC does not move.

Neck - maybe exceptional fortification to get you to +125% you are our heavy hitter - an I HATE healing you (JK)

Both rings... one FF - one?

Cape - going to protection +5 or 6 *WILL stack to AC unlike bracers)

Trinket - if you don't mind doing the trinket juggle - but not sure what yet.
(May need to farm a death locket - but easy to acquire)

Bubba, I had the Google's of Perception for the +2 attack until I realized I had +37 to attack. I traded them out for something else that actually helped me. I don't remember what off of the top of my head, but thought it was worth thinking about if you have +19 or more to attack roll.
  6. #6
    👍
  7. #7
Bubba I mailed you two items for your next level - armor and necklace... both much improved your present items.
  8. #8
Ok, so being frustrated with my performance in the shroud last night, I rejiggered some stuff. First went to Fred, because, well, I had never done that with this char. Exchanged a feat I didn't need for toughness.... Yeah.....

So then I reset my enhancements and rejiggered them.... +80 HP. Now I have 480 HP

One last q. So, I can buy a +3 con tome and +3 str tome in the store. I don't mind spending the points, but I already have a +2 supreme ability. I would gain +1 str and con, right now I am even on both, is the any reason to buy the +3?

Do I ever max those out, I.e. is there ever a time where you can't gain?

Been doing a lot of reading on barbs.
  10. #10
I too thought I was capped out but just by selecting the right equipment and stat mods for my Monk I am at 646 hit points ans 83 AC for a character that only wears robes.

We should be able to get yo over 100 AC and your hit points in to the 1,100 range once you hit evening star.

With a +3 it will only add +1 to your stats -
I need to know what your base stats are there and what is bringing you to your max stats now.
Remember the boats +2 stack on them all.
We get you a FF ring and striding ring - put a pair of large guild slot boots on you and get a large guild gem of health for +30 (6 hours if I recall) - boots minimum level 1 guild level 70 (check!)

The purple Dragon helm and bracers together give you +9 Str and Con which (again) stack with the ship +2 giving you a total +11. (Add to that your +3 tome (granting a +1 over what you have now) land you at an even score of +12 to Con and Str!

You can also grind out the Armor for a stacking bonus for +4 on your AC and Superior False life of +40 HP

We can do it - I love helping - almost more than playing the game now.... gaming the game?

I'll just need to ask questions on base stats and figure out the path we need to take to get the most bang for the buck.
  11. #11
How do you like the Air guard armor?
I ask as a +45 HP necklace w/air guard and 3x haste clickies is just 2 large scales.
I was thinking of SMOKE which is -20% chance of to hit against you with a 2x displacement cicke but that is 5 large.

    Quite a difference.

Sooner or later we'll get you better armor than what you have on now... and if you like the air guard then 2 lg is cheap (you have to put something on the +45 hp item to make it complete... air is cheapest)

But then again - as I said before the only way you can get a displacement now in game is to have your own item for displacement.

We could also grind on Mindsunder quest a while to get you Elocator's Habiliment
    - Ian has it and still wears it - it is +22 AC for a level 18 medium armor and has 5 displacement clickies on the armor.

I know you have the pack - we've run it a few times together.

    http://ddowiki.com/page/Elocator%27s_Habiliment

    +5 Enhancement Bonus
    Displacement (5/Day, Recharged/Day: 2)
    Attack Bonus +2
    Jump +10
    Tumble +10
    Feat: Mobility
    Resistance Save +5
    Suppressed Power
    Upgrade adds: Greater Nimbleness

** The picture in the link shows +11 ac the typed description shows +22 - I just checked Ian and I have +31 with Dex bonus +22 armor bonus.
And it is medium armor so no to hit issues for you.

It also can be bound and attuned in stone of change to give you one more +1 to AC... take it where you can get it.

I say we grind it for you until we get you to 20 and start the Purple Dragon armor.
  12. #12
Sounds good, but looks a little unlikely. Seems we need to have4 different tokens for each opening of the chest, I.e. run the whole quest chain each time?

Wonder if I should bind and attune my current armor? I think for now, once I level 30k away I can put on the new armor you sent me. We'll go from there.
  13. #13
......and who's to say someone doesn't have um.... 4 or 5 disks of each color already in his bank... hmmmm?

I'll check and grind some out with Jun also just to make sure we can have a good chance to pull you one.

level 18 any way so I have a few days to prep.
  14. #14
I thought the disks were bound to account, But I think GRB has a few.
  15. #15
Correct Account not character. I pass all mine to Jun to hold them
  16. #16
If they are bound to account, how do you give them to Bubba?

After reading about the Purple Knight Armor set, I have no interest in grinding shroud for a green steel armor/item. In fact, I want to dig right into Menance so that when I hit 20, I already have the pieces I need, then I can hit the Explorer areas.

    http://ddowiki.com/page/Named_item_sets#Knight.27s_Loyalty

I'm also thinking I would like to get the Signet of the Sun for the Charisma +7.

The Lenses of the Woodsman look cool with True Seeing and the Seeker +6 bonus. Googles and Bracers have always been my throw away slots as I can't find anything worthwhile for them. I miss true seeing since I stopped running Voice of the Master and The Cloak. I forgot how nice it was to see hidden doors, traps and Enemies.

Looking at Time vs Reward, it almost seems like the new items are better than Green Steel to me. Thoughts?
  17. #17
There are features on GS that you can't get from MOTU - but they are starting to be fewer and fewer.

I'll always keep green steel as a viable tool.
Like Ian made a con op goggles and is still slowly grinding Against the Demon QueenI / II for the Torc of Prince Raiyum-de II (necklace) (If you don't pull it - they ARE a reward for your 20th run)

For my Bard the pair of supporting concordant opposition items is the only places you can get them.

Weapons - MOTU is nice, they have the same effects as GS - but remember you can make GS weapons at level 16 - MOTU are typically level 21 or 22.

I'll craft a good earth grab or radiance or enervation weapon at 16 to hold me over to get the 'zupa'dupa' weapon at 22.

Jun has a GS cloak that gives +45 HP and a necklace the gives 20% concealment- also things I can not get from items in MOTU - also thinking of making some GS boots for him too - now that I lost my radiance guard by moving from my Dragon touched outfit to a MOTU outfit.

There is a MOTU item that gives +250 spell points, I can craft a +350 SP item - I don't know if they stack (THAT would be awesome - and need to look at it) but for Vic... GS is still a cheap way for me to get +350 SP

Cheaper than a what.. +125 SP item for the AH.

To me... GS still has a place for my builds.

AND.... I love running Shrouds... I just like that raid A LOT it is fun for me.

    ______________________________

I was going to make the same comment Atomm about the Druid goggles ... Seeker +6 on goggles that only take 5 commendations, and Seeker +6 = Bloodstone.
(Note - MOTU items are showing Seeker +10 on weapons now also (they don't stack with +6 though))

But hay if you DON'T have a seeker item - on the goggles with true seeing to boot... nice!

Just a quick look around before bed and log on to check auctions, etc...

I'm going in circles with the GS crafting stuff. The really cool stuff seems to be prohibitively expensive in terms of volume of large ingredients. Right now I'm looking at two different pieces; A cloak or helm and a LS:

Cloak/helm: Looking at pos/pos/pos to either give me 450 more sp or a combination of sp and defensive assistance. Also looked at a Mineral II combination that gave 100 SP, greater healing lore, and much more defensive assistance (+5 protection, Heavy Fort, +5 Fort Saves) but that one needs a crazy amount of large ingredients.

Long Sword: Looking at something with good offensive capabilities and that can also help my casting at times. I don't really know specifically what I want yet, but am looking at a few different versions.

I need to inventory my ingredients tonight. I know I have lots of small and medium but only a few large.

Bah - hosed it today at the AH.
I always use Ian to surf the AH - problem is I don't read the descriptions well - and his UMD is in the stratosphere so he can typically use every thing he wants -

Found a pair of hand wraps hat were STELLAR Drow beaters - bought them for a decent price and handed them to Jun in the bank..... only to be good align or UMD 30....

I put them back on the AH to see if I could reclaim the $$ if not there your goody two shoes Sargenmonk.

What made them cool is they have Brilliance, pure good and the presistant ability Divine Light like the cleric spell but not a clickie - every hit would be DL.

Drow are damaged greatly by light and are evil..... fraking awesome wraps.
Yours if I can't sell em to make my cash back.

Pure Good +1d6 damage per hit to non-good targets

    Brilliance - +1d6 light damage per hit, critical hits deal extra 1d10 for weapons with a x2 critical multiplier / 2d10 for x3 / 3d10 for x4. < < < This

Divine Light - (6/12/18)d6 light damage to all nearby creatures.
They can make a Will save against a DC of (10 + Cleric Level + Charisma Modifier) to take half damage.
  21. #21
Since I'm at 19, working towards 20, I feel like I'm better off working on the items in MoTU instead of greensteel. I think it's just so much easier for me to see that I need X number of something, rather than the more complicated recipies. I dunno. It just seems to take so much longer and I'm afraid of making the wrong choice because there is something even better just around the corner.
  22. #22
In a way your right - running Shrouds IS a pain when you have only one character - I forget that - and you have to amass an ass load of ingredients to craft can take a V E R Y long time.

Yes - getting to 20 so you can start using the new toys is a better idea for you.
Also gathering the commendations for the new clothing items also start at 20 ....

DON'T give up running shrouds, DO look at the levels - shroud is level 17 - 20 for 100% exp
Groups are forming now with 17 - 25 for players farming ingredients - that would be a giant time sink for you.
Just be aware of that.... but you can level to 20 with no problems out there running slayers, joining any of the flagging quests for materials and exp, shrouds at level.

20 comes fast out there with little effort.

As usual - anytime I can help (seams to be only on Friday and Saturdays) I'll help you any way I can.
  23. #23
cool. cool. cool. I'll take them if they don't sell.

Got a possible nice sword for you Sarge - but you'll need a UMD of 28 as its Half-Orc level 20

Curspewing / Radiance / Blindness long sword (I've come to love the hell out of blindness weapons)
  25. #25
Just a reminder - as if our conversations hasn't prompted you - CHECK THE AH and Pawn shops!

Man I happened across a level 18 great sword that has acid blast - bleeding - slicing - wounding on it for 9K plat.

The "proc combos" are getting creative - also keep an eye out for weapons that have damaging spells on them too now.
Starting to see 3 and 5 clickies of Phantasmal Killer on weapons too.
  26. #26
So, I am now a lvl 18 barb! Woooohooooo
  27. #27
Gratz - did not see you were on until I saw in guild channel that you just logged off.

Sorry - but you know - I'm an ass like that and not talk to anyone in channel... haha... had to - gratz

My UMD is about half that so I doubt that I can use the sword. Thanks though....

So I spent some time re-doing my equip last night. I added quite a bit of AC, I also add +1 con upgrading my items. Bought a +3 con tome, so I bumped up my hit points. Yesterday went from ~480 HP to 519!!! Whoooooohooooooo
  30. #30
have added about +10 to my AC in the past week and well over 100HP by redoing equip and enhancements.

Thinking about ditching many of my 1 handed weapons. Doesn't seem worth having so many. I have many longswords, shall I list some of the highlights? I will keep a few, for quests that require 1 handed weapons.

Need to decide and start crafting my GS

  31. #31
Ditch all but one or two for situational quests.... and the ONLY one I can think of is Dust and the spiders.

Your strength is how fast and how hard you kill things... doing my own research on Barbs and it looks like there happy when they get in to the 40's

The 100 I made mention was looking at a TR fighter that had barbarian in it.... my bad.

You need something that has glancing blow (any 2 handed weapon or Bastard sword (one handed but exotic weapon))
Great Swords have a higher crit range 18-20 but a x2 multiplier.
Great Ax has a 19-20 range but a x3 multiplier.

I tend towards swords I'd rater have a greater crit range - if you take improved critical slashing it doubles your crit ranger

GS goes to 16-20 and GA 18-20 - if you don't have the feat look for keen on the description which has the expanded crit built in to the weapon - and NO keen and ICS do NOT stack.

Keeping in line with Atomms thought - craft a +45 HP and Smoke item and wait to lvl 20 for the MOTU weapons so you don't HAVE TO grind Shrouds.

    My .02
  32. #32
As a side note - once we all get to level 20 - Junn is going to be my main - I can grab Vic, Tim or Ian as situational back ups- or take them when I'm trying to get them on a completion of a series...

Sarge - you keeping Pogue or moving to SM?
I'm pretty sure Bubba will be running Az and not GRB (again - unless situation dictates)

Which I think means we're ultimately going to end up being a group of all DPS ... they better die fast.... lol

    Monk, Monk, Barb, Barb, Pal.
  33. #33
I admit, I am having fun with the barb, but I do miss GRB some. I fear the game has changed so much, that he isn't as relevant as he once was, and my knowledge of playing him is likely outdated.
  34. #34
I keep a ardor staff or two with three clickies and then a devotion staff - when I run the pee puddle I put the devotion staff in my hand and start it then move back to weapons and fight with you all - as long as it was equipped when cast it amps while running and does not need to be in hand.

When mass healing I first cast Ardor then hold the staff as they stack - then cast mass and puddle and burst. Ardor is 1 or 3 min or so... that's why I keep 6 clickies on me.

other than that ... not much has changes.
  35. #35
Remember too Bubba that you have a free respec on each character from the last update. You just need to go see the guy inside Jurasco to do it (Not Fred, but the guy up on the stone ramp near the entrance.)

I don't know who I'll keep as my main. If we're running mostly DPS in the group then I'll keep Pogue running. I also gave Pogue my +50% XP boost from the expansion so he'll gain levels much faster than Sargenmonk.

I could also respec Sargenmonk to a llight monk for the healing and other buffs.

  36. #36
Remember the exp tome stops adding exp at level 20
So just as soon as you hit 20 it stops... not through level 20 then stop.

So 20 -25 is pots (if you want to buy them) shrines and voice.
What it does do is if you TR it automatically starts again at level 1 - (TR's don't get the luxury of vet 4 or vet 7 status)

The improvements of the light monk are as good as the dark monks now - tomb of jade - boss DR bypassing as an innate ability - healing fists where we all get the healing.

Light is not a bad choice anymore after level 9 like it use to be.
  37. #37
The unique stuff keeps popping everywhere - just found +6 hand wraps of Icy Blast of Fiery Detonation.... (1-6 cold and fire normal and 15d6 cold and fire on crit)
(The uniqueness is they typically pop one or the other crit modifier with some minor pre- on them)

One set to replace two is always a good deal - and honestly I think they will replace 4 wraps as I keep trying to get the amount of junk I schlep around to the absolute minimum. I'm going to replace 2 other sets of different pure good wraps also.

    * * * Note I do keep my eyes out for these unique items for you all also, but they are typically level 21 or greater.
No need to start collecting them for you until you get there, but when you do I'll start making a "look for" list for you all also.
  38. #39
Wait... you hacked the DDO site? Wut?
    Pull it or buy it?

    Either way - congratulations

I like the belt too.... Con 6 and GFL - sa'weet

How is the sword working for you - is it OK? (don't feel bad if you want to get rid of it)
  39. #40
All of it = teh awesome. Sword is freaking cool, it's making me think about crafting a GS wearable instead of weapon. Belt is awesome and the armour is unmatched. I am doing fairly well with equip now. Thanks for the help.

BTW pulled it, was like drinking a bucket of awesome!
  40. #41
    (golf clap)

Yah pulling one is the awesome sauce....

I am a real fan of wearable DS items over weapons now.
And have said may times now Smoke with HP item - 20% miss chance of hit, 3x displacement clickie, 45 HP

I like the smoke first as you don't have to have a % chance of something procing on you getting hit or you hitting someone and then hoping it procs.

It just sits there giving you 20% concealment.
  41. #42
Was just thinking on how or what I can do to Jun to add just that little more... you know... and realized we all can benefit from the simple stone of change crafting.

Where you can add the +1 stacking dodge bonus to your armor and the +1 force on each hit or the 1d4 force on critical hits to weapons.

Bubba I put the force critical on Ian's sword that is the Vampire version of your maiming sword.

I put the dodge bonus on Ian's armor and Dduck's.... got to remember to do it to Jun's robes and wraps... - every little bit helps.

    http://ddowiki.com/page/Stone_of_Change
  42. #43
I almost ended up doing what I cautioned Bubba not to do....but not quite.
All those runs of the Druid stuff lately I've been taking the Cleric Commendation and now realize I want Villager.... DOH'
(Going to keep the Cleric and go for the 15 turn in for the bound radiance weapon - so no biggie)

Glad I have not yet made a Shroud item my self, hell I took most of the day scratching out on paper.. if I take this.. then I move that........ and then I use commendations for these...... ARRRRGGGHHHHH stop the insanity!

I think I have it sorted out that I will end up with everything I want and also have one ring slot open.
  43. #44
Bubba and I were talking about that earlier. I've held off on doing a gs item just to make sure I knew what I'd be getting elsewhere so as not to build something that was immediately redundant.

  44. #45
Freaking Commendations are like Barbie for DDo
Mix and match - Ian is now running 2 PDK items a Cleric and a War Wizard.
But hey it's a hell of a lot easier to grind out the Druid chain and get the three then get the +7/+2 exceptional pairs for a total of +9/+9 items than any other way in game....
Stacks with ship+2 and stacks with my +2 song for a total of +13 pn the items you have stats on (which will also stack with Bubba's Primal scream so +13"+?")

Heck before this pack best I think you could get was +7 and those were rare as all get out.

Anyway - Sarge and I zerged the whole chain and Joe showed up for the last two.... did them all in less than an hour.
    Cheap commendation runs -R- us
  45. #46
So I've been sitting on high bidder on a ring for two days out of a three day AH for Jun -
Last night got down to 2 hours left and I was out bid....
Now the ring was silly cheap - 200K for a ring that normally goes for 800K ~ 1.2M

So I sit on it (much to the WAGRO's ire....) and get down to hitting "search" on the AH every min or so when were down to 5 min and start using the stop watch to get the per min time down - I see the price go up at the 2 min mark by another 60K

Get to the one min mark and let the timer time to 13 seconds left (accounting for lag) hit the bid and win with 3 seconds to go!!!!!!

SUCK IT other chumps! - pulled a 1M ring for 303K plat na-na-na-na-boo-booooooooooo
(+7 strength, +4% dodge stacking (puts Jun to 22% out of 25% total available dodge) and 10% tendon slice (even if you don't have the feat) per hit)

    * * * Pic has stun +10 - I have that on my wraps, the ring is Tendon Slice

    http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Seal_of_House_Dun%27Robar
  46. #47
    That will suit me well!

Gee Bubba - sorry - bound on equip.... and just like my Buberrella that you are... your my ugly step sister and it fit my finger better.

    sosolly
