Got word yesterday that a deal should be finalized at the end of January. A larger company is purchasing us. I imagine I have 1 to 4 months before I'm looking for my next gig, so I gotta dig in deep for my CCNP.
I have no choice now. I gotta walk away from DDO. Man, this sucks because it was fun. If I can figure out how to transfer the leader role, I'll send it to Sarge. Otherwise, I'll keep my account as non-VIP just to keep things together.
I appreciate the offers to run my character to help me keep up. I'm just not sure how fair that is considering the circumstances. At this point, I need to do everything I can to force myself to quit. It's going to be hard with a game that is free to play.
This sucks, Atomm, for many reasons. Well, maybe you'll have Real Life® sorted out by the time the new Battlefield comes out. That game won't take up so much of your time anyway.
(Leslie Nielsen) I just want to tell you good luck. We're all counting on you. (/Leslie Nielsen)
Hell no you ain't getting my Muckbanes. I stole them from the mispriced auctions fair and square..... 😛
The CEO said no one is getting laid off, but he said the same thing last year right before two rounds of layoffs due to the economy. It's hard to know what to believe.
I've been laid off twice in 8 years. In both cases, my gut instinct was telling me something was up, get out while you can. My head on the other hand said everything was ok. This time around I'm listening to my gut. I just can't see a bigger company not trying to achieve some level of efficiency through the HR, Accounting and IT departments. Customer Support, The Project Teams and the developers are the core. The rest is cannon fodder.
The bad part is we are about 3 months from having enough money to start looking for a house. Now, even if I have a job 3 months from now, I don't feel comfortable enough sticking my neck out. But that leads to other problems because my daughter starts Kindergarten in August and we wanted to move to a better school district before that happens.
Asked about this issue on the VIP access area - got a reply from a user that is considered "A DDO Hall of Famer"
So the person that started our guild is leaving - RL issues and needs to resolve, doesn't think he'll be back in more than a year.
Can the guild go on when he's a non playing member? DDO has a very limited set of Guild Tools. If he named a Successor, and he fails to log in for 30 (Or is it 45?) days, the leadership of the guild will transfer.
So yes, the guild can go on. If however he faild to name a successor, you would not be able to add any more officers as only the leader can promote people.
Do F2P accounts collapse after a while, and then what would happen to the guild? Accounts don't auto delete....
Can he pass guild leadership to anyone he chooses? Yes, he can pass leadership.
If he just quits, does the guild "owner" change to the next highest ranking member, or next longest existing member? See above explanation.
