I'm looking in to Neverwinter - I'm just about over DDO as I've experienced sever really PISS POOR encounters with what TurdBind considers their EXCELLENT customer service department.
Yah - riiiiight.
To top that off, if you haven't been following DDO news lately, the billing cycle for May 2013 saw most subscribers charged not $14.99 but one of two OTHER prices.
$1499.00 - Yup almost FIFTEEN HUNDRED dollars for a monthly subscription
- Yes TEN $14.99 subs for the month of May ($1499.00)
Several people have looked at their account details during this snafu and noticed full credit card numbers in their account .... full as in full numbers not xxx xxx xxx xxx 6063 ..... and Oh by the way, they were NOT THEIR CC NUMBERS but someone else card (full number disclosed) in their account page.
Downloaded - playing - 3 hours so far, made to level 6 (is that good?) MEH - not the DDO feel - not the DDO look - DDO plays better, has a less on rails feel than this, but then again.... 3 hours old.
I like it better then Lotro.
Chose a Cleric on the Beholder server (Name Slugnutty)
It's not addicting like DDO was for me. Like STOL each missinon (so far) feels exactly the same - they just look different.
Although I am just about out of the new kids on the block area (solo missions) and have started acquiring party only quests. (Sometime I will try to enter a party quest solo and see if it lets me - I also have no idea how many it will take as a party to enter)
But so far game play is - go here "kill "X" # of "Y" and come back to me for a new shiny. Unlike DDO in a wilderness area if you clear a random encounter in about a min it will re-spawn the mob. So I guess technically if you need to kill 7 enchanters. Find one, kill it, wait - he'll be right back with you.
It looks grainy - even with everything jacked to 100% Distant objects look 2 dimensional until you get to them and then do not have a feel of REAL.
I would call it a three week game unless group questing really enhances it some how.
On the plus side.... it's not Turbine so there is a chance that the player won't get raped from customer service.
So what you need to do is open the social panel letter O And click the far left tab FRIENDS And in the bottom use he @ in front of a name to send a friend invite.
So I sent you a pending invite to @Brewer - so it now shows a pending friend request.
Hmmm, maybe on Friday - but I need to get to bed early - I have three full days Sat, Sun, Mon of rebuilding 1 1/2 acres of fence.... Manual labor for a keyboard jockey. UGH
If needed I have a slot open to make a new toon, as I am level 17 now. (I think it goes to 50? or 70?) There may be mentoring where a higher level is lowered to the lowest level character. I just don't know.
I had three "worlds" to chose from when I made my toon, maybe there is just a North American server now?
It is from Cryptic ... maybe they use the same base engine? Level 20 - getting a little better, still go here kill 7 come back... but better. Got me a hoarse now too @ level 20 Got me a companion too @ as I'm a Cleric, I chose a tank to shield me quite a bit from damage - he has a MASSIVE amount of agro
Companions (hirelings) are permanent, you can buy more You train them like your own toon - equip them from your inventory and chests along the way.
So I have tried twice now to DL this. First time, after 3 hours I had like 10%, the 2nd time I let it run overnight and it still wasn't done. I have a 50mb/sec connection. I assume this is the devs way of telling me they don't want me playing their game!
There having an ASS LOAD of issues right now - As in players have found a way to post REAL WORLD $$$ items on the auction house for NEGATIVE in game money values and then cancel the auction to recieve in game credits that should have been for real world money purchase only.
So Yah - it's broke and there losing real world micro-transaction money to a AH bug.
Then there is the roll backs - they were (stuck?) in a roll back loop on the servers they were rolling back 72 hours of past data every 48 hours... and have not said if this was on purpose or an unknown server issue. But you were keeping level but losing items and 72 hours of game progression every 48 hours.
Aaaaaand server lag and fail over has been HORRENDOUS - I have seen massive lag and warping to the point of... I - um... I was just here 10 min ago warping not just seconds but `10 - 20 - 30 min of time warp.
Some are saying that the server lag was so bad on the start screen that they timed out on start and then the character gets locked in a wibbly-woobly timey-wimey worm hold and they can not log on to the toon wuntil the server falls back the 72 hours in 48 -
I've kept it installed, but have not touched it since the 23 - of my last post.
I may open it up - after it settles down and they get the UGH worked out of it later.
Sounds like it is a game on top of a game... "Where is my character?" It's not NWN, it's "Lost" the video game... Buy it Today!
"This game truly captured the essence of the TV show! Other character were wandering around saying 'WTF am I, WTF Time is this? The Past, the future, now? Am I on the island?"
