Joe made mention that with all the lag and screwieness in Tanks that he'd be willing to give DDO a spin on some Friday night as he refuses to go premium until vision/lag/ and all the other things we are able to over look are fixed.

Being a new install I'd have to re-download it, and I know Sarge said he may want to give it a go - just testing the water and hope no one is breaking out in hives right now.

I suppose we could also look in to other F2P games - suggestions?

There is Champions online - comic book hero
Pirates of the Burning sea - Sony entertainment (all sorts of issues lately - but a fun game)
LOTRO - There are so many people that like this game I'd be willing to give it another try - I MUST have missed something the first time around.

I keep thinknig about hopping back in. I have even clicked the icon several times. By the time I am in, I realize I have no one to run with and close it out. I want to play again, but right now gaming time is NIL.

I'm willing to go a few more rounds - I'm interested in the completely new crafting system where you can create your own pre-base-post stats and can deconstruct and reconstruct as you like.

I think I'll re-download the latest version of the high def instead of patching the old rev I have saved.

Go dust off the air ship.

oh oh oh Bubba - we get to F' with Lessah some more.....

I dunno. I'll have to pay to unlock either of my primary characters and I'm not sure if I'm ready for that or for sure to pay for VIP again.

The lag seemed better last night, a few "hitches" but not nearly as much as on the first few nights.

Thought you had a secondary character you started when we started all over again, or is that a locked one also.

  7. #8
monk and favored soul - both locked. Only my ranger is available, I forget what level he is - 13?

Is there a direct download link somewhere? I'll reload the gameat least.

You know what would be great fun, we could all make new characters. And since we are starting over all the other people around here could roll up characters and play them up with the 3 of us. Then we could methodically work our way through the ranks together.....

    ooo nevermind
    😉

I still want to do one of the raids... the one where we had to do the pre raid out with enter the kobald.

I hate that I never quite finished the game with GRB
  10. #12
Yah truth be told the Abbot raid in the dead area and the raid you spke of too Bubba

Everyone roll a new Battle-Cleric and ........ oh no....... it itches....... and tingles......
  11. #13
Talk about a re-learning curve..... *gak*
  12. #14
    Still haven't downloaded it.

While everything is still in the same place I know a lot has changed also - I feel like a stranger in a strange land.

All I've done is run around a little bit and one solo map with Dduck just to see how much I remembered - I was wooden still - good thing it was a level 10 map and he was level 20......
Also ran WaterWorks slayer with him just to get some time in toon.

    a lot to remember.....

That's kind of how I felt when I was out for a bit. Once I got back in, I was rather overwhelmed.

I still want to finish those darn undead quests, but I'm stuck at killing that one bad ass vampire. I think it was the lvl 11 series.

  15. #17
I'm good with that - I think now that I'm premium I need to get DDO points to unlock that area but it would be fun to kind of take a nose count of who is willing to get some DDO time back in - settle on the Necropolis (Previously referred to as the Dead area) and just close it out level 1 > completion including Abbott raid flagged.

Works for me in place of the willy nilly "I don't know - what do you want to do" approach.

    Atomm
    Atomm Paladin 12 / Fighter 2
    Atommic Wiz 3/ Rogue 1

    Sarge
    Saaarge Ranger 11 / Fighter 1 / Rogue 1

    Bubba
    GRB Cleric 20 (The MAN!)
    Azwepe Barbarian 10
    Buubaar Paladin 8

    Joe
    Tourgran Barbarian 9
    Ginantonic Paladin 5

    Duck
    Dduck Ranger 20
    Ian Bard 14
    Nowlin' Ethel Bard 11
    Codexx Paladin 10

I think that is the list of toons that we have that are unlocked. (Azwepe Barbarian 10?)
If I recall the level disparity is +/- 3 so Atomm at 14 who wants to complete the Necro would be levels 11 - 14 or 14 - 17

    Just doing the foot work.

  17. #19
I bought Azwepe so I can play him. Though I will admit the idea that I would have time to do so eludes me.
  18. #20
Drug your wife with NyQuil like Sarge does and sneak off to play..... in the morning - Cinnamon rolls.

(we know the song your singing Bubb.)

    Trying to update game now.

  20. #22
Purchased points using the +50% until June 6th
Purchased Red Fens as it's right in the meat of our level range and Attraxia is a free area so there are two zones with at least 4 quests in each are plus each has slayers to complete.

Going after the slow methodical approach this time - after those two I think Gianthold then Sands (yah!) then vale (need to figure out where the Necropolis slayer area fits in as it also has 5 quests inside and also unlocks the Minos helmet so that's in the mix also)

But that's the path we've decided to take from level 10 forward.
  21. #23
...... unless of coarse every one wants to star over.....

I just had to say that.
  22. #24
So I updated DDO yesterday and logged in for the first time since December (?) and lo and behold, my Level 10 Favored Soul is unlocked. I was quite surprised. Didn't do anything other than move my character from the guild ship to the bank in the Market Place, but if I were to play, at least I don't have to pay to unlock a character. I did however forget to see if I had any DDO points remaining. I'll try to remember to check that tonight.
  23. #25
    I will do the same
  24. #26
    The BANDS back together.

Codexx Paladin 10 OR Howlin' Ethel Bard 11
    Tourgran Barbarian 9
    Azwepe Barbarian 10
    Poguemot Favored Soul 10
Atomm Paladin 12 / Fighter 2 (too high for us to play with right now)

Joe's not back from Vacation until Sat June 4th so FNF tanks or DDO don't matter.

It took quite a bit of futzing' to buy my DDO points with PayPal through the game interface - I ended up trying three different characters and needed to stand in the Phoenix Tavern to get it to go through... FWIW

Also Target and Gamestop have the DDO points cards.
  25. #27
FWIW - Codexxx is a dog - Yah I know level 14 is where Paladins START getting good, until then there fancy assed fighters

But for the last four days or so I've run solo content with Codexxx then switched over to Ethel and the Bard is just more fun to play (and more survivable) so Ethel will be the main when we pick it back up

(and like we planned before Sarge - she will be getting her healing Mojo on soon too - then the healing song to assist Pague in healing the group)

  26. #28
Yea, I'm still no fun to play.......

  27. #29
I've just slightly over 800 DDO points, or in other words, not enough to buy anything of importance or use.
  28. #31
Nothing better to do (did not fell like WoT) so bought Sands - ahhhhh feels like a favorite pair of shoes - didn't forget a thing about the old route.

Interesting thing that hit me was that even with a new install of the game and needing to purchase the module - as soon as I stepped in to the wilderness area my map route was still uncovered from the last time I stepped in there 9 months ago - so somewhere deep inside the PC the DDO files are not really gone-gone after an uninstall of the game and a operating system upgrade......

Anyway - was fun to grab Ian and do the do again.
  29. #32
I can't say that the thought of grinding slayers again provides me with great joy.
  30. #33
I could (and will (and am looking forward to)) slayers in Orchard, Sands and Vale
There is something about being on auto pilot racking kills and it just feels like free EXP to me.

But then I have quite a bit more deat time day in and day out than you all, so I can see how when you do get time to play quality over quantity is the deal.

But those three areas - I just love.

Now rares drop the new crafting components (which I still do not understand fully) so their drops help you create very customizable weapons/armor/clothes and wearable items.
  31. #34
I enjoyed the orchard. Miss the game some, Wish I had some play time.
  32. #35
Bah the next 8 years will go by quick.... you'll be back gaming just as soon as you get fitted for your first pair of orthopedic shoes or dentures (which ever comes first)

    See ya soon!

Atomm - I remember you always liked S&B with your pally but were less than happy with Turbines interpretation.

In the months (year) we've been away they've added Shield and Greater Shield mastery which now reads.

    Physical damage vulnerability
Physical damage vulnerability is decreased by an additional 5% when using a shield, for a total of 15% when using a buckler or small shield, 20% when using a large shield, or 25% when using a tower shield.

So basically its a pre multiplier to damage - IE you take 100 points of damage, you use a tower shield with Physical damage vulnerability of 25% sp received damage is now 75 - tower shield DR 10/- so 75 - 10 = 65 points of damage take from a 100 point hit.

    Better I guess.
