Soooooo I was thinking.

Turbine has $135 of my dollars. I may play A LOT but I don't play everywhere - and even as I've leveled some toons - I've never been everywhere DDO had to offer for $135 yet.

Below is a list that I think are important to leveling AND fun to play AND have quite a bit of content for your money that I feel I'd purchase.

Area Name - Level - Turbine points to purchase

    Delera's Tomb 5 to 11 750
    Demon Sands 10 to 12 850
    Ruins of Gianthold 13 to 14 950
The Vale of Twilight (with Subterrane) 16 to 17 650
The Path of Inspiration 17 to 19 450
    The Dreaming Dark 18 to 20 450
The Devils of Shavarath 19 to 20 650

In my opinion You could probably get away with not purchasing
The Path of Inspiration or The Dreaming Dark - they are not really needed but good (great) loot and fun content so I put them in the list.

Here is the full list of areas you can purchase and add to a Premium account.

None the less the total Turbine point s needed to purchase them all is 4750, presently if you have Zero points and needed to purchase all the points (worst case all at once) you can get 5,000 points for $49.99.....

Which means I've already paid three times that amount and do not use 75% of what I'm buying.....
I'm not rich (though have been called good looking..... but that's another story)

According to Turbine if you were VIP at least one month when you suspend your VIP you go to Premium.

    Follow this link Account types
to see what you get and don't get.

The only other costs we may incur are you need to pay for Monk and Favorite Soul classes but do get to keep 4 of your 10 already created toons.

My next auto payment is on the 6th - I'll let it go but I'm going to really look in to this and quite possibly not pay them again for DDO.

Sarge posted the F2P version info for LOTR online coming in Fall.... if I really want to pay to play again I may do that for 6 mo....

But right now - I'm just looking at what I've been paying out to Turbine VS. what I'm using for content.

I'm not thinking of giving up DDO anytime soon, I just think I may get more from it as Premium then VIP

    - Thoughts?

The other cost you have is to purchase a shared bank account if you choose.

LOTRO is also supposed to have a Premium account option as well. In addition, you are supposed to be able to earn turbine points through gameplay. I assume at this point that it is similar to the 25 points you get for reaching certain favor levels in the game, but not 100% on that.

While I feel that I'm getting a lot of gameplay for my money, I'd be happier to not pay $15 per month. I can guarantee that my wife would like to not see that charge on the cc either 😀

Duck, do purchased areas go per account or per character?

Also, what about all the raids? Are they F2P or Premium?

  4. #4
I think it's across all accounts and across all servers.
(That's one of the things that are on my research list)

When you buy an area like Vale of Twilight (Meridia) and the raid (The Shroud) is in that area - you have access to it.
(Click on Vale link above and it will show what's available in the pack)
Interesting thing on that pack is three raids,
Shroud, Hound and Vision of Destruction..... 3 for 1

So ... here's my NEWEST brain storm -

This will be a multiple choice questioner.

    - Perma death.
Someone had to say it first.
Only play together... to keep us honest.
    Die - delete re-roll.

There are flavors of it - only use what you get from chests - no hand offs to your level 22 bard with a 1,000 haggle - can or can not use the AH - can or can not use ship buffs - res only if there is a cleric in the party (if you allow res at all)

    ... or ...

Instead of PD - a full party of the same type of toon.
I've seen videos of all Pale Master runs of all sorts of things which got me thinking ... what about an all favorite soul - only bards - only.... ? ? ?

just thinking... I realize no one has actually gotten out to Evening star yet other than me - and there is a truck load of quests out there.... and it will keep us mega busy for some time to come, but an all "X" part of the same character would be kind of cool...

(though have been called good looking..... but that's another story) .

THAT MADE MY DAY, RIGHT THERE!

As usual Mike - It's a business doing pleasure with you.
(whats' up 'eh? - ya' been quiet)

PD could be fun to try but I have barely time to play my FS and/or Monk so a third character might be pushing things.

Here's my idea. New group of toons made up of 8 people. 1 Human female, 7 male dwarves. Each named after one of the 7 dwarves. We wouldn't be able to run all together except for raids, but it would be comical.

THAT is awesome - can we call her BigSexy?
and I think there would be fighting of the name dopey.

    Was dumb ass a dwarf?

That is awesome Sarge. I agree though, I have GRB on ice and Azwepe moving along slowly, not sure I need a third character. But hey I will do whatever. If we do PD, I think it needs to be naked PD.

It was just my brain droppings is all - plenty to see and do now up to level 25 - Life no longer ends at 20
