Switching Classes

Sarge mentioned he switched to a Rogue. I thought that was kind of cool and worth mentioning. I'm not planning on switching my Paladin, but a dual class character can be fun.

    Ahhhh, the days of a Cleric/Mage or a Cleric/Mage/Fighter.....

Yes, My Level 3 "Saaarge" character is now a Ranger 2, Rogue 1. I pushed my rogue skills toward opening stuff and defeating traps in the hope that I can help with that since we don't have anyone using a straight rogue character.

I haven't had a chance to test out things yet and see if I can open locked doors or defeat traps yet. I hope to tonight.

My Cleric is dual-classed with a Paladin. Which is why you don't see me spamming the extra 5 cleric spells I would have had otherwise. But I get to wield a nice shiny sword and armor and other beauties.

Sarge, I do have a straight rogue rolled up. I just haven't played him.

At what point do you get your Ranger abilities back?

I still have many of them, I think I just lost the 2 handed fighting ability - that or I was having just really bad luck for a bit.

Just FYI I am a straight Rogue specializing in traps detection etc...

I had a ton of fun last night, it was worth staying up for.
My main question is how do we all play together and also separate?
If Doc and I play and get so far, then us and Sarge/Atomm etc..

Should we get organized and make a list of people that will be in this group then a list of adventures to play and which ones we have done etc...

We also should never move onto the next town until everyone is ready.

    Just some thoughts...

You can do many of the quests "solo". Assuming that we'll play Stormreach the same way that we played Korthos, it will mean that you are repeating some of the adventures to make sure everyone has done them. There is probably a way to organize things somewhat, but I don't have the mental capacity left over to do that right now.

I think now that most everyone has at least one character at least a level 2, leveling should not matter quite as much and so those that have the extra time to play should do so as it helps on some of these adventures to have someone that has gone through it before.

We need to get any latecomers up to speed and through Korthos pretty quickly if we can to try and keep everyone together. I've kept one character back there and at level 2 to help with that. I know Bubba will need to go through that (assuming he wants to), I don't know if there are any others.

I trust lockpicking is in that skill set as well. I didn't pick up the KNOCK spell with my level 4 training. I thought hard on that one, but I figured I'll pick up a scroll or 2 in case I need one while soloing. I might also try to learn it off a scroll - supposedly I can do that, but I haven't investigated it. Right now, my Wizard is essentially a Sorcerer, with lots of flames and cold spells and a few protection spells. I have some more versatility than a Sorcerer, but I probably don't have their bonuses either. I have been picking up bonuses to my fire/cold/wand/scroll magic wherever possible though, so those things are getting pretty nasty.

I did some ungodly huge damage with a cold spell against a flying demon-thing, like 74 damage with one spell, and that was before I leveled up to 4th. It was immune to fire, so I'm glad I had something to counterbalance that.

It's getting to the point where I need to make some decisions on some of my BOUND stuff. I need to figure out if I have to throw it away, or if there's a way to sell it or give it away.

Really could use something to carry all my scrolls. . . too much crap.

Yes lock picking, anything like that. Master mechanic path I believe. It is not that exciting of a character but I wanted to offer support without choosing something someone else had. Did not want to step on any toes. 🙂

Paladin. I think Rogue is a good pick. You seemed to be holding your own just fine. My alt was actually a Rogue, but I've never played him. I might change my alt to a Sorcerer or Bard just to have something different to play. The only problem is I need to do some soloing to catch up.

Doc, any chance you can see when you get Dispel. I have a feeling we are going to need it after the fog cloud we got hit with last night. That thing sucked!

BTW, if anyone has Elite for the Final Dragon quest of Korthos, I promised Silent I would help him make a run of it tonight. If you still need hard and can knock it out before we get going, that would be cool too. Just don't level to 4 or I believe you can no longer do this quest.

I believe the lvl 3 limitations are on the Karthos Island Explore/Rare/Conquer bonuses.. the killx/findy area quest.

But like you I am staying at 3 until I pick up every bonus from the elites in the area.

How hard is a Bard to play and what are it's plusses?
Does it have to be a REMF?

Looking through a bit of the forums, it seems the bard is a very group centric player. The first few levels can be difficult but when you start getting into parties you help everyone out a good bit.

And apparently there is a thing called crowd control in this game that the bards do well.. very well. Control FTW oh wait thats my cleric.. for you it would be more of a 'come to me my pretties' as you charm every baddie in sight to work for you.

Ranged attack seems to also be the mainstay of the bard, though I have seen quite a few posts on TWF and THF, to include this guy getting help on a 28pt build that is a THF close range DD.

I started to play a bard, but I switched to a straight fighter just in case I need to help any new players.
