    Silver Flame Nugget
    1st Upgrade

(can be done at Bloody Crypt, Shadow Crypt, Cursed Crypt or Accursed Ascencion Alters)
    * Silver Flame Amulet - (Necklace) Negative Energy Absorption (1/rest)

Done - waiting on party to catch up to Necropolis to go on.
  2. #3
I need to decide which one of these to pursue (thinking Silver Flame) and get started.
  3. #4
You can do both - just not at he same time.
I chose Silver Flame because of the healing aspect, but would have with any other type too because the death ward and negative level protection.
  4. #5
Duck, any chance you can link the quests that allow the first upgrade? I'm not sure I understand this.

Atomm wrote:Duck, any chance you can link the quests that allow the first upgrade? I'm not sure I understand this.

    Synopses:

The first part takes players into the Heart Tombs and the Bloody Crypt and is meant for players at levels 5-6.

The second part is for players into the Shadow Tombs and the Shadow Crypt players level 8-9.

Then at levels 11-12 the Restless Tombs and the Cursed Crypt .

Lastly the Orchard of the Macabre and the Black Mausoleum, which also contain an additional 49 wilderness quests and a raid for level 14-17 characters.

So each set in the Necropolis are 4 dungeons and one crypt - you have to beat all 4 dungeons to be able to open the crypt for the "Big fight" which is always a High level undead (Vampire, Mummy, Ghost....)
Once the Crypt level is done, place your nugget from either faction on the crypt alter and it will be upgraded (see Docs info)

Each set of 5 makes your trinket more and more powerful, ending in the level 14/17 raid for the big kick ass prize.
  6. #7
We did all 4 Heart Tombs plus what I thought was the final Mummy fight, but none of us saw anyplace to put our trinket. I think that is where the confusion comes from. I think we missed something or something got screwed up.
  7. #8
Yup the Crypt is accessible from any of the other Hearts you went through (I believe)
Caution it's L O N G and a bitch of a fight at the end at the actual alter.

I'd be more than happy to go back in again with you all. Practice makes perfect with undead for me.
  8. #9
Is the final fight the one where you have tons and tons of skeletal archers up on ledges where you can't reach them?

  9. #10
No it's in a large open room where the main guy is calling all sorts of undead.

They come in waves, but if you can weather the waves he finally stops sending them
(I think he can't be hurt while there in effect)

Once they are no longer being called you can focus on him, but there is a special way to kill him (told you on Vent) just in case no one wants to know all the details.

Picked up a cool sword last night for undead.

    +1 long sword

It does 1d6 acid damage, plus 2d6+2 to undead. We figured it up and it does a max of 29 damage to undead not counting my bonuses. That's compared to my +4 sword with does a max of 12 plus my bonuses.

Now the question is: what item do you wear to improve your strength, and for how much? Improve that, and it's like adding a + to your weapon for "To Hit" and "Damage".

Here's a crazy detailed tool to calculate melee damage.

DocJon wrote:Some info on what you get by choosing the Emerald Claw or Silver Flame. AFAIK, no one has upgraded their gem yet, we've just run the first 3 or 4 level 5 dungeons, which unlock the bigger, more important stuff.

On my end we ran everything but that last level 5th dungeon. I have not ran any level 8 ones yet. Have you guys done these already?

I will be on every night through Sunday since I am off work and have no *life. I will probably be on early, 7-ish EST. So if anyone wants to game, jump on vent.

*Then again I don't feel bad as some people play every day, obsessed, some even during work time... HAHAHAHAH ROTFL 🙂

NOTE:---->>>>I am JUST KIDDING GUYS!!!!! 🙂
  14. #15
Yah I have finished #5 of first set (Heart line I guess)
Then decided to try the first of the Lvl8 line and got my ass wiped in .5 seconds flat, and have not been back in again.

Though I do have some ideas of how to be better prepared this next time.
I'm ready to go do them when everyone is ready to go.
Would be a good FNF run through them as high as we can get.

  15. #16
I've done the first 4, but not the final 5th.

I really, really like this area. It's been my favorite so far. I hope I'm around the next time we do them.

  16. #17
Last night I played in 3 barrel cove, it was fun and HUGE!

I have tried 3 times now to go in to the 2nd set (level 8) of maps. Once Solo - just to see what's up, and 2x with PUG. All 3x got wiped.
And I was ready and Lvl 11+ in a lvl 8 - though bot times it was on Hard not Normal.

Bubba - I keep meaning to go to 3BC.... just have not been there yet. May solo it today though just to try.
  18. #20
Were kind of all over the place on Nec now.
Me (Vic), Bubba, Sarge (Saaarge), Doc (Sky), Paladin - have completed the 5th level maps and the 5th level crypt. so we have converted out chosen trinkets to the first stage neclace.

We also completed one of the first four 8th level maps, (Iforget which one - but it's the water one which we all swore off to never set foot in to again) at a net gain of 0 exp for Bubba.

    But at least its done.

As siad in other threads, untill everyone levels to 9/10 I'll keep Vicidiin under raps and am leveling the WF (Level 6.75 now)

    Scarlet Scarab Dust

(Combine the following: Bloody Scarab, Charred Scarab, Crimson Scarab, Ruddy Scarab & Twitching Scarab.
This will make you a Scarlet Scarab Powder that you turn into Squire Rale in Necropolis)

    * Lumric's Longbow - (Weapon) +2 Longbow, Ghost Touch
    * Touch of the Silver Flame - (Trinket) Lesser Undead Guard
    * Signal of the Silver Flame - (Trinket) Lesser Turning

I did this last night and by mistake grabbed the Signal of the Silver Flame when I should have grabbed the Touch of the Silver Flame. If a Cleric type wants to do this and get the Touch of the Silver Flame, I'd gladly trade. Unless of course it is bound - I'd need to check on that.
  20. #22
Damn, I was really excited about this one..... Wish I could have been there....
  21. #23
Apparently the Signal of the Turning Flame is bound to my character 🙁

I do have all of the ingredients except one (I don't remember which) to make another however. Maybe this time I can get it right.
  22. #24
Okay guys, back in the water for Sarge and Atomm 🙂

Try the auction house for the ingredient you need. Maybe it's not very pricey.

. . . . In other words, no way in hell does Doc want to ever see the inside of those walls again.
    Your on your own buck-O!
  28. #30
Be actually kinda easy this time wouldn't it? I am still looking for something that gives me unlimited underwater time still though
  29. #31
Hide in plain sight - Lvl 10 Harbor quest has a bottle of air in a secret location which allows you to have unlimited underwater breathing (I have) but it's not an every on gets one pick up - it's a one per quest and does not show sometimes.

I'd like to see anyone that was with us that night agree to do it again. 😀

Ya know, talking to you in Vent, it isn't readily apparent what a sick, twisted person you really are. . .
  33. #35
The only "issue" with the map was water breathing, and we never confirmed that you could not do it on the surface in the first half like we did in the second.

I was blown away when I found that I could swim on top and do very little underwater work at the second half.

The "baddies" were really not "that" bad - just a lot of swinging at incorporeal bodies until they materialized.
  34. #36
My issue of picking the wrong reward for the Scarlet Scarab Dust has been resolved with the help of a little trade from Bubba. Since the Signal of the Silver Flame was bound to me and I couldn't really use it, it got sold to a vendor 🙁 and I now have a shiny new Touch of the Silver Flame to help me fight undead.
  35. #37
trade implies something came to me from you as well as something going from me to you. Are you sure it was a trade?? You RB!!!
  36. #38
BTW, which underwater quest are you guys talking about?

Dang Sarge, you probably needed the final Scarab just like I do. Way to go Bubba..... 😛

Well t he only thing I can find is FIRE WALL.
    That's it.
    Maximized, Extended duration Fire wall.

Every time he drops 15% health he makes a full health mirror image of him self, up to 4 mirror images and him for a total of 5.

It is unknown if you kill a mirror image that he creates a replacement - I just can't find the answer to that one.

    DR 15/Adamintine
    DR 5/Silver

This so sucks.... one guy end fight 24 seconds.... view 9:24 to end 9:50
Fire wall, Cold lance, Fire ball, Fire wall - done!
    24 F-ing seconds.
    Rat Bastard.

  40. #42
    Welll.... hmmm... pisser.
  41. #43
Does the DR information above mean that unless you hit him with an adamantine, metalline, or silver weapon he subtracts 15 from your hit damage?

So we need firewall/fireball capability and Adamantine weapons. I have a silver sword and an adamantine one as well. I also have a metalline ax. I wonder if I pair the adamantine blade with my paralyzing blade? or the maiming/crippling blade?
  42. #44
There is a method to the randomness of the rooms. Apparently there are 3-4 different configurations and knowing which one you are in can shorten the time necessary to find the path to the lever room considerably.

Also, getting all of the extra gears drops a named item chest with the following:

ddowiki wrote:* Cloak of Protection - Cloak: +3 Protection, Spell Resistance (17)Spell Resistance (17): This item grants its wearer 17 spell resistance. (Big Chest)
    * Dusk - +4 Docent: Dusk (Big Chest)
    * Phase Hammer - +3 Maul: Adamantine, Ghost touch, Greater Incorporeal BaneGreater Incorporeal Bane: +4 enhancement bonus and +3d6 damage versus Incorporeals (Big Chest)
    * Shards of Light - 50 +3 Arrows: Cure Moderate Wounds, Returning 75%Returning 75%: This missile will return to the player 75% of the time. (Left End Chest, Big Chest)
    * Tenebrous Stiletto - +4 Dagger: Adamantine, Ghost touch, Deception, +7 Hide+7 Hide: Provides a +7 competence bonus to the wearer's Hide skill.
    * Witching Hour - +2 Quarterstaff: Adamantine, Ghost touch, Superior Nullification V, Greater Void Lore (Big Chest)

No real help on the Nerezza issue however....
  43. #45
    I don't think he's subject to paralyzing.

The Metalline would be best because it bypasses both DR's. After that, Adamantine appears to be better than Silver in this case.

I think we need to find a 10-12 hired gun wizard...... Or, we buy two wizards and continue to throw firewall, ignoring our own characters.

I read he makes 5 copies plus the original. That means the last 25% requires us fighting 6 of these dudes.... wow....
  44. #46
DR (Damage Reduction) is read as follows.

DR #/- is the # states how much each successful hit is reduced, the word or minus - symbol says what passes the DR or the minus means nothing passes the DR

So DR 5 / silver means all weapons but Silver (and Metaline) must do at least 6 points of damage, as the first 5 points are negated for each successful hit.

So when you see a shield or armor that has DR 5/- it means NOTHING passes the DR of the item as it has a minus after the /

He is DR 15 / Adamantine so we must land 16 points (or greater) of damage to achieve a 1 point hit of damage, unless you were using Adamantine then the full hit value is removed from his health points.

He also has DR 5 / silver which means Silver or metaline will pass his DR.

Now the kicker is DR stack DR 15 + Dr 5 = DR 20 - Metaline is the only combo that will hit full damage.

My Adamatine sword hits full on his DR 15 / Addy. but is then lessened by 5 as the DR 5/ Silver takes place.

My dual wield silvers were hitting for 3 - 7 so I swiched to my Addy sword and was hitting for 12 - 18
I tried my Frost sword of Pure Good and was hitting for 27 - 32 so I kept with the best number hitter I had even though it was being DR'd by 20, it still showed the best hitting numbers.

That is where getting a wand of Stone skin will come in handy as it gives us a DR 20 /- I had one but ran out of charges a few days ago and did not replace, Bull Strength adds to our to hit damage so that's a plus, a wand of displacement will come in handy as we get a 50% chance to be missed on their attempt to hit us.

I've looked no wand of firewall but I do have a wand of fire ball.... Atomm laying hands and Bubba healing will be next best spell combos on him, if you spam him as Sarge and I fight him along with the above buffs we may stand a chance as Vampires DO NOT de buff like beholders.

We may just PUG a Wiz/Sor to tag along for EXP and loot for the firewalls. Dracull will assist but he's 15 and Atomm witll lose the exp.
  45. #47
...... Oh I also picked up a +3 Vorpal Great Sword, and with my +10 to Crit I can Crit crit from a roll of 10 - 20 and kill him instantly, but it's a lvl 12 sword and I'm trying like hell today to level Bbender to 12 (32K points to go) I know I can do it, just need to find right PUG.

  46. #48
Found a thread that recommends spamming Paladin and Cleric Lay on Hands and Healing, smite evil, hitting with healing wands and above all, fire if you have it.

I might be better off using my heal moderate wounds wands than swinging a sword 😀

    http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=196332#post2367690
  47. #49
Agreed, and Atomm, the problem with a hireling, is that they get distracted when hit and won't cast spells. that last battle last night, mine never got up the blade barrier which is the first thing I did when entering the room. I think just resetting him and being prepared, when there is only one of him will do the trcik for us.
  48. #50
That makes sense Bubba.... I've ran into that a million times as well.

Keep in mind that I have 11 6d6 Light Damage spells that I can spam. I'm better off holding them until the end as they will do the most damage when I'm surrounded.

I also have the Sovereign spell that does about 100% heal. Not sure how that would affect him, but I could try to hit him with that.
  49. #51
Reading Sarges link someone makes a good point -

some anonymous dude wrote:I believe a holy silver (or silver/transmuting of pure good) weapon will work on a vampire. It's going to be a pain in any case without a caster, but some quests are like that. Could try practicing on the vampire in Church and the Cult to find a tactic that works for your group - it's a shorter quest, and can be a lot of fun (if the vampie at the end doesn't make you tear your hair out in frustration, that is). It's also got some nice unbound drops (Silver Bow is probably still the best min level 6 bow in the game).

Maybe we need to try the CotC - we can see what we can see about our vampire tactics there.

  50. #52
I also reconfigured my enhancements to make me a much stronger healer, added undead turns, and gave me light damage spell like Atomm, so I have 12 6d6 light damage casts. Between that and mass heal, I think I should do quite well against him. Someone(Sarge) should take my burning hands goggles and spam that and beat him , Duck can beat him, Atomm uses his light damage, and I will light damage, Mass heal and level 5 heal. I would think we would kill him quick... we add two clerics, to heal us maybe Duck and I (since we are likely to do the most damage) and I think we will do this quick.
  51. #53
As a wise man once said...... no wait... I think it ad Bubba - money in this game is meant to be spent....

I picked up a +4 Metaline Great sword of righteousness , which will replace my +5 Adamintine GS, paid 10K Plat so I should make that up no issues with selling the other.

Thinking of adding the force damage to it at the stone of change to supplement the loss of the other +1 ....
  52. #54
The metalline should more than make up for the loss of the +1 given how many types it hits against. The force damage ritual will help. While I can't see any reason that you'd sell it, being bound and atuned will prohibit you from auctioning it. On the plus side, I don't think bound and atuned items can be permanently damaged.
  53. #55
Right they will wear down but will always be repaired - if you look in the upper right corner the number there on the weapon squaired is the number of kyber dragon shards needed to Atone the weapon.
    So a +5 will be 25 shards.
  54. #56
I picked up a +1 Metalline Long Sword of Enfeebling. Up to -6 strength on a successful hit.

I also have my 100% heal. Now sure how well that will affect him, but it's worth a test.

Bubba, I was going to hold the light damage until the end. Figured it would do more damage with more targets.

Having two Cleric Healers might be best. I was thinking about putting them on me and Bubba so we can keep spamming our light spells and heals.

Another option I thought we could consider was getting a hireling that cast Fire Shield and putting it on all of us. At least that way we would be doing fire damage as we get him.

What do you guys think is best?

BTW, what is the key to target an enemy? I need something faster than trying to click on them.
  55. #57
Targeting is always the trouble I have had. I suck at it. With friendlies, you can use the function keys, but I don't know of a quick way to get enemies.
  56. #58
When we first go in and there is only ONE of him, right click on him - as he appears and disappears and reappears you "should" stay targeted on the ORIGINAL him.

I do that when Vicodiin is fighting Vampires, right click to target and fight the urge to re-target when they reappear and they "usually" stay locked as they never really are gone just in a different state in game.

If nothing else the we drag Drac in with his 16 wiz and just finish it, but we do it out way one more time and see if all this preparing to prepare has done anything for us.
  57. #59
    Duck,

I guess I don't get it. I have to left click to keep attacking. If I right click on him, then start left clicking, my focus can change. Do you handle it a different way?

  58. #60
For Vic - it may be because I'm a caster and tossing heals on Vamps not actually swinging on them ....

I'll try with Bbender and single right highlight and left click attacks.
  59. #61
yeah like duck said for me, once I right click it stays on that character until I right click again, or unless I hit my push to talk.
  60. #62
So we back at it on Friday 02-26-10 for another lvl 11 quest in Necro?
    I'm in.
  61. #63
    Sarge:
Hate to say it buddy - but did the numbers on a usual run through Sands.... there are MORE Scarrow then Undead.

Ran it three times and our usual path gains us 68 Undead and 86 Scarrow......
It still feels like the typical DDO grind....
  62. #64
    * DOH!
Just realized I put Sands info in Nec...... What ev'

    (pad)
  63. #65
More Scarrow than Undead? WHo'd a thunk it? I think it's just that they are harder to get to and more spread out than the Undead.

Well maybe I should try to get my 1500 there at least..... grind, grind, grind.....
  64. #66

Well at the rate I'm killing them solo (and I've made 4 trips today before lunch time) I need 12 more trips through Scarrow and 17 Undead.....
for my 3,000 slayers and I'll not have to do Sands Slayer again! (Again?)
  65. #67
I wish I could park my character at the door while you do that during the day 😀
  66. #68
Dude! Run home, fire it up and walk away. I doubt they'll even realize you are gone.... hehhehe
  67. #69
I bet I could remote desktop in from work and play....hmmm.....What do you think Bubba? Is that an appropriate use of resources? hehe.
  68. #70
ooo no doubt it is. We have an aweful large pipe just sitting here mostly empty.
  69. #71
You know where to find me.
A run takes about an hour.
    Feel free to freeload.
  70. #72
I tried using LogMeIn to start up DDO. It wouldn't work. 🙁

    I gave up after that.....
  71. #73
    My ass is numb.
    My eyes are blurry.
    My hands hurt.
Taken them both from 1500 to ~2400 each today,

Thankfully 3,000 is the cap in the sands. then all I ever have to do is quests when we want to and ADQ1 and 2 raids when I want.
  72. #74
I am done running for slayers out there. Thank Goodness
  73. #75
    I've done
    Bbender 3,000 - 3,000 - 3,000
    Durrzo 3,000 - 3,000 - 3,000 and now
    Dduck 3,000 - 3,000 - 3,000

But for the level it's darn good EXP - and like Sarge did last night - his 1,500 slayer of Gnols got him 28,000 exp, he put on his VoTM for +5% and bought a lesser exp pot for 6hours +10% and walked away with almost 33,000 exp!

I'm doing the same but for two 3,000 slayers and taking a 20% pot for 37,000 exp x2 = 74,000
A grind bot a great bump up to 15 and a good start on to 16.
Yah masochistic - but what else am I going to do?

Got to go - my 5 min reset is up.... 😏
  74. #76
That was my 3000 on the Gnolls last night. Working on 1500 Scorrow and 3000 Undead. Don't have to deal with Gnolls anymore out there at least (YAY!).

  75. #77
I have my 3000 knolls, 1500 scorrow, and 1500 undead. I think my undead is near 2000 now, scorrow is near 1500.
  76. #78
Assuming that I can get this presentation that I'm working on done, I'll be continuing to grind through some sort of slayer stuff again tonight.
  77. #79
I guess I won't feel bad if I dont show up. Sick of night meetings!
  78. #80
Hey guys... had some downtime yesterday. I jumped in a PUG for the orchard. They promptly all left once I had run the entire orchard to get to them. I decided I would fight until I died on my way back to the door. I ran the entire thing solo. I have all my explorers, and all my rares but one, that I may need help on, (defend a dude while waves of skeltons attack). With BB's and full heals, this is a cake walk. We need to get out there. The is an end reward in the preraid that would do wonders for me. I will gladly guide us. If I can solo it, we will have no issues.
  79. #81
Duuuuude that is so last update........ I tried to get you all through with Bbender
    Just bustin' your walnuts (peanuts?)

Dduck can use the exp running out there, I was there a few levels ago but was about 20% overwhelmed trying to solo - and know the place very well also.

So we add that on the list too - Some of you need to complete ADQ flagging in the Sands, Start or complete Shroud flagging in the Vale, all of the quests in upper-Necro (Durrzo has a few but Dduck none) and we all heve the 20/20/20 relics for Gianthold TOR.
(By the way I turned them in - he takes them from you - started to run TOR but the group zerged so fast past me I was lost and clueless so I said F'em and /death and left the group)
But once you complete TOR groups typically jump right in to Reavers Bane Raid which is also a lvl 14.... mad loot.

We still have a lot to do in the game - I think we probably need to asses who has what and not-what, where the "whats" fall in level and work up from lowest level so we don't screw ourselves from Exp....
(The song remains the same - eh?)

Its amazing how quikc they have some of those riads rated for. Seems to me maybe we should make a list.. of prereqs for each raid and check who has each. Then run from the bottom up. Been having alot of fun out in the orchard though

Wonder if we are good enough to pull off the following... a new raid every other Friday. Off Fridays we are working on flagging.

Jacked a few Scimitars from Durrzo and Dduck does pretty well out there now - between manyshot and dual Scimitars - I can run the same route as Bbender did.

    We're on!
  87. #90
Takes me about 45 min to run a full route, I think I get about 200 slayers and almost all the explorers. Time may be +/-

You all can stand in the door, BB's are uber effective. Otherwise might be easier to have me run aggro in alot fo cases while you all stay back and multi shot.
  88. #91
ok... brought my 20 tapestries to Balkar to trade them in for my minos... he says I need 20... I have 20 dammit. Any advice?
  89. #92
They aren't in a collectible bag are they? If so, take them out.
  90. #93
the problem was that they weren't in the collectible bag. They need to be in there to trade with him. As a side note, since I went and grabbed my collectible bag I noticed there were 8 tapesries in there. So I have 8 for whoever wants them.

  91. #94
...and I might have another spare 32 or so........
