Unravelling Enchantments

The new module that came out with the last update, I think it's called "The Tide Turns", has an end-chest drop of an item that has an "Unravelling Enchantment". I picked up the Chitin Bracers when I did this a month ago and stuck them in my bank for use at some point as they aren't anything special (+4 AC, +1 Will save) compared to my current equipment.

For them to be really useful, you need to collect the Sigils of the Goat, Lion, and Dragon from some of the other quests and put them all in the Stone of change at the top of the Denieth tower to get rid of the Unravelling Enchantment. What I didn't realize is that this is what you get when done. They can also be further crafted to "Epic" levels.

This is a description of the elemental strike benefits

    * Riik-zik, The Fire-Change (Monk Fire Stance) - Warmth is life to the Kreen. You have a +25% Insight bonus to incoming positive energy healing.
    * Thok-zik, The Earth-Change (Monk Earth Stance) - Earth gives the Kreen their strength. Your unarmed damage is increased by one die step.
    * Sed-zik, The Water-Change (Monk Water Stance) - Kreen bites carry the poisonous venom of life. Your unarmed attacks deliver a poisonous attack on strikes that are considered Vorpal (a natural 20 followed by a critical confirmation). (Thri-Kreen Venom: Fortitude DC 17 Negates, 1d6 Dexterity damage and paralysis.)

Needless to say, I'm going to be running the Bargain of Blood, Spies in the House, The Black Loch, and Storming the Beaches over the next few days to get the sigils that I need. I'm kind of pissed that I didn't look at this more a month ago. The three sigils are end chest rewards in these quests although I don't know if they are random drops or not. There are a number of other items that may be useful for other characters so check it out.

Hmmm ran them with Durzzo just cuz they were there - don't recall I received any sigils - they were drawn very well - fun to do.

    Did some searching
Sigil of the Bubba - er Goat - Drops in the end chest in Bargain of Blood or Spies in the House end chest.

Sigil of the Durrzo - er Lion - Drops in the gold key chest and end chest in The Black Loch, or Spies in the House end chest.

Sigil of the Dragon (Sargiepoo) - Drops in the end chest in Storming the Beaches or Spies in the House end chest.

Don't know if there are random - all the time - or rare.... could not find.
Combine your item in 'Visbane's Folly' atop Sentinel's Tower in House Deneith Enclave with a Sigil of the Goat, a Sigil of the Lion, and a Sigil of the Dragon to restore its original enchantments.

With out the Epic upgrade your Torn Chitin Bracers have the following (once the taint (Yah I just had to use that word... taint... )) removed they have:

    * Jidz-Tet'ka: Bracers: Armor Bonus +5, Will Save +2

As far as the "Epic" portion of the item - you first need to be level 20 to run the same quests above - at the end of each quest the final loot chest will drop an Epic coin which binds to your account.

Your bracers have a Yellow Augment Slot - to fill that slot you need 30 (Thirty) Epic tokens (Run the above quests any amount of each but must equal 30 level 20 runs) and then turn the 30 tokens in to Misty in the Tower of the Twelve to turn them in.

For 30 tokens a yellow slot allows you to add one of the following abilities to your bracers.
    Yellow Augment Crystal

    * 30 Epic Dungeon Tokens
    o Spell Focus:<Spell School>
    o Proof Against Poison
    o Blindness Immunity
    o Disease Immunity
    o Fear Immunity
    o Underwater Action
    o Feather Falling
o Resistance +4Resistance +4: This item offers a magical protection in the form of +4 resistance bonus on all saving throws.
o Protection +4Protection +4: This item protects its wearer by granting a +4 deflection bonus to AC.
o Greater False LifeGreater False Life: Grants the wearer +30 maximum hit points.
o Wizardry VI (125 spell points)

You will also need to acquire:
The Epic Scroll of Chitin Bracers
    The Epic Seal Chitin Bracers
    The Epic Shard Chitin Bracers

If, say, you want an epic "XYZ Item", kill epic monsters to get a Scroll of the your "XYZ Item" (or buy one on the auction house), and loot chests for a Seal of your "XYZ Item" and a Shard of your "XYZ Item". Once you have all of those, you can upgrade your "XYZ Item" to the epic version of the it.

Scrolls drop from mobs, similar to some of collectibles, and can be freely traded.
    Seals are from chests
Shards are only from quest/raid end chests. These are bound to account (though can be traded normally in the chest). All of them stack and count as "Ingredients".

Epic items created are all minimum level 20, bound to character.

Once you have the Seal. Scroll and Shard - your 30 Epic tokens the bracers upgrade

From: Armor Bonus +5, Will Save +2

To: Armor Bonus +8, Wisdom +6, Will Save +5, Yellow Augment Slot

....That being said.... once were level 20 - and if you want to run them 30 times - I like the idea of +8 ac and +6 Wis on a single item.

It would add +2 ac to what I have and free up my +6 wis necklace - but I think maybe by then if were running Epic - we may already have found or traded for items like them or better....

Hard telling - not knowing - until we start doing them or are even playing at Epic level.
    (or even still playing...)

What's really good for my monk in addition to the AC and Will Save bonus are the +++ to the elemental strikes. There are some great additions there.

I think the sigils don't drop until you have completed the quest chain once. Then you can go back and get them by doing some of the dungeons a second time. I don't know how often they drop, but you can trade them before you take them out of the chests. They bind on acquisition though.

Someone handily posted a guide to farming sigils. I'm going to have to try the Storming the Beaches one as I've had zero luck on the Spies in the House quest. I never thought to short cut through it....

Where did you get the bracers?
I assume the original list is a "choose one of there" as an end reward.
    Which quest was that?

*Edit - never mind my reading comprehension isn't what it use to be..... like read first thread - understand what the first line says.....

I can't imagine running those quests 90 times, but the Epic Kukri is a center weapon for Monks ans each has a 3% chance to trigger Disintegration (+500 HP damage) - you'd need 2 but worth the effort.

    Filthy Kukri

    * Midnight Greetings - +1 Kukri (uses INT Mod for damage, Centered weapon for Monks): Deception, Assassin's Training
o Epic Midnight Greetings - +6 Kukri (uses INT Mod for damage, Centered weapon for Monks): Deception, Finesse, Disintegration, Assassin's Training, Red Augment Slot

    Red Augment Crystal

    * 20 Epic Dungeon Tokens
o Adds one of these damage types to your weapon
    + Adamantine
    + Silver
    + Cold Iron
    + Byeshk
+ Crystal (new type, Riedran Crystal, weapons that will be useful against psionic types like the Quori)
    * 30 Epic Dungeon Tokens
o Adds one of these damage types to your weapon
    + Good
    + Evil
    + Lawful
    + Chaotic

    * 15 Epic Raid Tokens
    o +7 Enhancement Bonus

    - - -
An enhancement bonus is a specific type of bonus that applies to:

    * AC for an armor that has been magically enhanced
    * Attack and damage rolls for a weapon that has been magically enhanced
    * A specific skill for some spells (like Jump) and some magic items (another kind of skill bonus is a competence bonus)
    * A specific ability for some spells (like Bull's strength) and some magic items

Enhancements bonuses do not stack (for instance the bonus given by Dexterous Boots would not stack with the bonus given by the Cat's Grace spell).

    --------------------------------------------------

Then again - you can make some damn powerful Green Steel weapons too..... AND you need not run EPIC to get the drops with GS.......

    Just a thought.

I can't imagine running any quests 30 times. It's been hard enough running the Spies quest and I've done it maybe 7 or 8 times now...

The Kukri looks pretty cool for the long term, but I can't imagine that I'll play this game long enough to do much of the "Epic" content.
  9. #9
Dragon Sigil dropped on the second run of Storming the Beaches
  10. #10
Congrqats' now what are you going to do will all that free time you just gained?
  11. #11
More Menechtarun slayers of course 😀
  12. #12
    Cuz' Bubba says I'm 1337
One Epic token drops for each person in an Epic quest - they are generic tokens so tokens from any Epic run will count towards the amount needed here.....

    Just for clarification.

I have run this quest chain 6 times now.... 3 with Bardbarian and 3 with the Monk looking for either the rapier for the Bard or the bracers for the Monk - ya' think I've been offered either EVER?

I've turned on and off end rewards based on class... no dice... all I keep getting id the long sword, the kukri and the chain mail.

So I take sigils - got two full sets now - on a positive note the AH had a set of the bracers for 9K Plat while every one else was selling for 300 - 500K so I grabbed them and did the cleansing - the +10 jump is nice but the +25% healing amplification is better.....

I may swap them out for chaos guard if I get an Icy later or even a pair of +8 AC bracers - but for now they are a real good set of gear to have - I can see why your reluctant to trade them for something else.

  14. #14
Even at level 16 they continue to be useful. I haven't found anything that can beat them yet. I'm not even sure that the Chaosgarde bracers do.

I should probably run the Xorian Cipher to see if I can get some to compare.
  15. #15
maybe that should be on our 'todo' list.

  16. #16
Took two runs Sarge but pulled Two rapiers (May make a second Bard one War Chanter one Spell Singer) and another pair of Torn Bracers.

    Ran Elite twice.
  17. #17
    23 Sigils of the Goat... T W E N T Y T H R E E ! ! !

23 Solo Epic Normal and Epic Hard runs in Bargain of Blood - looking for the Seal of Jidz to Epic upgrade it..... still did not get the seal, but the scroll finally did drop.

Some times I'd pull up to three sigils of the goat - most times 2 - and always 1.....
    Ugh....

    Scroll- CHECK
Seal - more Baran of Blood Epic
    Shard - The Tide Turns....

    ugh....

Care to run some Sarge? I've got it down to about 12 min per run solo..... Bubba....
  18. #18
I'll run it assuming I have the map pack or that it is wicked cheap given how many turbine points I have at the moment.
  19. #19
    What is this about?
  20. #20
All throughout the game named items - but not ALL named items - can be upgraded.
You need to run Epic level of the original quests to acquire the
    Seal of (item name)
    Shard of (item name)
    Scroll of (item name)
and a Shard of supreme power -

In my case I've decided to make my first Epic item of the Monks bracers.

    Original item.
    http://ddowiki.com/page/Jidz-Tet%27ka
    Minimum level 5
    Jidz-Tet'ka
    Armor Bonus +5
    Will Save +2
    Tet-zik, The Enlightened Change

    Epic upgraded.
    http://ddowiki.com/page/Epic_Jidz-Tet%27ka
    Minimum level 20
    Armor Bonus +8
    Exceptional Wisdom +1
    Will Save +5
    Tet-zik, The Enlightened Change
    Empty Yellow Augment Slot
    Empty Colorless Augment Slot

The colored slots are a little more work -- but really while your grinding the Seal/Shard/Scroll you are accumulating the items to make the component to fill the "colored" slots

Most items have only one augment slot. Two handed weapons often have two. Extremely powerful items might have none.

In general, red is for weapons, blue is for sets of armor, and yellow is for accessories. There are also green, purple (violet), and orange augment slots - these allow your choice of the two colors that make up that color. (A green augment slot would permit either a blue or yellow augment crystal.)

Colorless crystals can go into any color slot.

    Quote from DDO WIKI

    http://ddowiki.com/page/Epic_Crafting

A yellow slot allows me to choose to add one of these features - crafters choice.

    Resistance Save +4
    Protection +4
Greater False Life < < Choosing this - it will put me over 500 HP
    Wizardry VI
    Spell Focus: Evocation
    Spell Focus: Illusion
    Spell Focus: Necromancy
    Spell Focus: Abjuration
    Spell Focus: Enchantment
    Spell Focus: Transmutation
    Spell Focus: Conjuration
    Blindness Immunity
    Disease Immunity
    Proof Against Poison
    Fear Immunity

The colorless allows for one of these - also your choice
    +6 Stat
    +1 Exceptional Stat

So... there was a time when Sarge and I ground THE HELL out of these quests looking for the bracers to drop and then the three sigils (Dragon, Goat, Lion) to upgrade the bracers to unlock the "monk" abilities inside them - not initially revealed.

DDO WIKI wrote:Tek-zik's effects augment the elemental stances of a Monk.

When the bracers are worn, the effect's name appears as a scarab-shaped buff symbol. The effect name changes as stances are changed, although the buff icon does not.

    When in Air Stance:
The Kreen do not fly, but can leap through the air with grace.
You have a +10 Insight bonus to Jump.

    When in Fire Stance:
Warmth is life to the Kreen.
You have a +25% Insight bonus to incoming positive energy healing.

    When in Earth Stance:
Earth gives the Kreen their strength.
Your unarmed damage is increased by one Die step.

    When in Water Stance:
Kreen bites carry poisonous venom of life.
Your unarmed attacks deliver a poisonous attack on strikes considered Vorpal (a natural 20 followed by critical confirmation). (Thri-Kreen Venom: Fortitude save DC 17 negates, 1d6 Dexterity damage and Paralysis.)

It was grind hell at level 5, 6, 7 to run and run and run to get the sigils - and now I'm back at it - grinding run after run afet run looking for the Seal/Shard/Scroll

Scrolls drop from monsters, are not bound, and can be freely traded - and auctioned. When the scroll is found, it is randomly assigned to a party member. Seals and Shards items become Bound to Account upon acquire.
These items may only be traded via the chest loot window. Scrolls, Seals, and Shards stack and count as "Ingredients".

Depending on the quest, Seals will drop from one or all chests in a quest/raid, whereas, Shards are only from quest/raid end chests.

For Example: All the chests in Epic Chamber of Raiyum will have a chance to drop Seals, but Epic Partycrashers will only drop seals in the final "Epic chest".

The funny part of it all is that all of this Epic solo running of Bargain of blood (which the wiki tells me the Seal drops in - I keep pulling the damn Sigil of the Goat - something we had a devil of a time finding at level 5.

(Count is up to 27 now - for those lurkes following along)

I know it is fouled thinking, but in my head I thought running Epic level 7 quest chain would be easier then a level 16 chain.....

(The inside joke there is all mob are up-leveled to Epic 20 creatures... so 20 is 20 no matter what their original level DC were.... doh')
  22. #22
Close to Ransack so what I need will not drop on bargain now - so I need to let the timer reset on the chests (7 days) so started running tide turns - have Epic normal done once now... a little longer running but still solo no issues.
(with Epic level 21 Fav sol hireling..)
  23. #23
Well... I'm ransack on Bargain and Tide now... so I get to take 7 days off and start again later.

I do have several scrolls now for (I think) every item from that chain and a few shards and seals too- just not the ones I want.

When anyone gets to the point they want to epic upgrade items they have from Sentinels - let me know - I'll pass you a scroll.

The rest is up to you... but I'm sure having the other items in inventory won't kill me - so grab me and we can farm when I'm not on ransack timer.

    hmmmmmm what's / who's next?

And the dream of my first Epic crafted item dies....

There are Commendations you gain out therefrom quests - rares in wilderness - end rewards....

For the Monk I was going to work on getting the spider-spun robes from out there - but I had enough villagers comms to get the bracers or belt of the three (robes also) and chose the bracers...

(really cool pictures went here.... but they did not post...)

Who can pass up +9 for both wisdom and con on a Monk and they both are stacking with the ship buffs to make +11

Buh-bye Epic Jidz - it was fun.
