Update 3 CAUTION

Hey The ran a WORD BROADCAST in game saying DO NOT go back and do a quest in CASUAL MODE if you have already done it in Normal, Hard, Elite.

They did not stipulate if that includes old quests done in update 2 - or if the slate is wiped clean and only applies to quests in update 3 - so I guessone can assume it is retroactive.

So basically STAY AWAY from CASUAL MODE - which has replaced SOLO.

    Here is the broadcast.

We are currently investigating an issue with Casual dungeon difficulty. Players who have already completed a quest on higher difficulties (normal, hard, elite, epic) should not try to complete the quest on casual difficulty at this time.

And to add insult to injury - a new onw is now running.
The Gianthold Tor quest is temporary unavailable. Thanks for your patience!

What I want to know - When did EA buy Turbine?

Well Turbine did just lay of something like 50% of their staff a while back. Guess they cut Quality Assurance a little to deep......

Looks like they borked the use of "true reincarnation" as well. So this patch was a HORRIBLE failure!!!!! Way to go EA.... errr I mean Turbine

....AND while you can configure your key combos to open windows and CTR:+W is open my DDO you can change the key mapping all you want in options the game will still recognize CTRL+W for the open command.

    Good testing Turbine.

Care to guess who uses CTRL to talk on Vent?
Yup so now every time I try to run frwd while talking MY DDO keeps opening and filling the screen - real handy in a fight.

Due to an issue with newly True Reincarnated characters, we have disabled the ability to True Reincarnate. Characters that have True Reincarnated since the release of Update 3 may be unable to complete some quests. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Well I figured out some of the problems I've been having with the Monk and managing Ki. I turns out that in the update they changed the cost of Ki strikes and instead of each strike costing my 5 ki, as I add 2nd level strikes they cost 6, third level 7, fourth level 8.

While I still have a blast playing the monk, it seems like managing my Ki will become more and more of an issue as I level. I need to get a better grasp of what stances I should be using in particular situations as I think this will help. That and a cleric to follow me around like a puppy and keep me alive 😈
  12. #12
I noticed my total KI amount raised and lowered with an xx item.
I just can't remember what the item was right now, I realize the total KI does not help with KI use but there may be ways to help mitigate KI usage?

Like Clerics and Wizards have feats, enhancements and physical items that allow them to lessen the spell point usage could there be KI items that allow you to use less KI to do the same feat?

  13. #13
I don't think that there is anything that mitigates use of ki. I think it is primarily your concentration skill that determines your base amount and how quickly it degrades. It's an important enough skill that the recommendation is that you use one of your skill points each level to add to your Concentration. I currently have a +5 Concentration Helm of Steady Spellcasting that makes a big difference. The higher your ki starting point, the more you can do without being in a fight or meditating. For instance, at some point I should have enough starting ki that I can do the "Aligning the Heavens" finisher at the start of a dungeon without meditating. If done prior to anyone doing buffs, this will give the casters a 25% decrease in the cost of those buffs.

The other thing that can effect your base level of Ki is the different stances. These shift your attributes around between Wisdom, Dexterity, Constitution and Strength and can cause your base Ki to grow/shrink a bit depending on which stance you are in.

    That makes my head hurt....

Saw you guys on last night playing Jr Varsity..... How is that coming along? Duck, is that your FS? What do you think?
  15. #15
I saw you hop in and hop out... if you want to play we would all happily switch characters.

ummmm so far it's a waste pf money - but it won't really come in to it's own until level 12 of FvS (So my over all level will have to be 14 as I've splashed with two levels of Monk already for some needed thing that the FS does not naturally get that I needed for the build to succeed)

It has great potential as I've taken elf and specialized in scimitar so there are huge advantage there for a melee FvS fighter - Mind you most ppl think a FvS is just an Uber cleric - I'n not a healer FS but I'll still be able to drop big heals like Vicodiin just not all the other curative de-buffs like Vic. or healing FvS's

What I will be able to bomb with are the FvS Blade Barrier and Comet falls which will hit for 300 hp compared to Vics 75 - 93 hp damage and casting time is 3x faster which is way cool in the fights.

He won't hit in an arc like Bbender who has a 4 - 6 - 4 swings per three rounds, he also won't have as many of the critical hit pluses - but as a melee specialist FvS fighter he'll have a 10 - 10 - 10 swings per three rounds on single point targets.
    Think whirling dervish.

So the potential is Vic's mega heals but no buffs and massive cleric offensive spells. with better than Bbenders fighting ability with slightly less damage but more hits per round which I've splashed with Monk to apply my dex and wisdom bonuses both to my AC (with the caveat of light or no armor only...) and a massive evasion ability to take 0% damage to traps and area of effect spells (Fireball, Ball lightning, Blade Barrier) and direct cast spells like ice lance and beholder point cast spells.

I just need to get the levels to see if it all pans out.
Right now.... it's kind of squishy but improving as he's 5 FvS and 2 Monk right now - and I'm back to leveling the FS portion from here on out.

And yah Like Buubaar said ANYTIME were on and you want to play let me know - I'll gladly grab any one of my toons that you need to help with.
This is my alt, alt, alt so no worries on leveling it.

  17. #17
You've all heard me say I do my research on my toons before I even think of rolling a new one.
I spend weeks researching - reading forums - using 3rd party DDO tools to lay out what changes effect what performance.

Here is the "road map" for my FvS melee fighter.
Now I try to hold true to the outline but I've already taken both Monk levels in place of one at lvl 1 and the other at lvl 10 - I've change a spell or two as I know what they do with Vic and liked them but will hold true to the Enhancements as they greatly effect my melee damage and casting damage, I just may not take them in order of the map to the letter.

It worked for Vic and is working for Bbender.... So I don't see a reason why it won't work for Durrzo either.
    It'll just take patients.

I get lost in all those stats, but you might have an extra enhancement point or two to play with as update 3 gives the Monk elemental stances automatically now instead of requiring the use of enhancement points.

Your right - already noticed it and planing on the changes.

I thought about grabbing you guys, but I'm still under the weather.....

I'd love to do some Necropolis stuff with you guys the next time we are all on. I just took 12D6 of light damage and its fun spamming undead with 11 of those suckers.....
