VIP Friday Night Fights

I've been doing some reading about the content that we do not have access to, trying to understand how it differs from what we are experiencing. I didn't get much in the way of what I was looking for, but I did find a good explanation of the paid content quest chains.

    http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=199945

I know a lot of you are playing this game because it's free and I totally respect that choice. But I was wondering how we could get the most bang for our buck. Since I was paying for WoW up until last month, I have no problem going VIP for DDO and sharing the benefits with the group. Keep in mind, I also get the benefit of having friends to play the premium content with, so it's win/win.

Here is what I would like to propose. I will go VIP and use my points to provide guest passes to VIP content for FNF. The passes are only good for 90 minutes, but I don't want to rush through the first time. I'd rather enjoy the newness of it. So time is not an issue. At the lower levels, the Guest passes are fairly cheap. At upper levels, this system may not work without someone else picking up a VIP as well. For now, let's try this with just me going VIP. FYI, I can't access the in game store, so I don't know how many points it's going to take to do this, but I assume we can do the lower level stuff with the 500 a month allotment for VIP's.

A few rules I will follow for these premium nights. GRB's will get first shot, followed by CGC members based on class needs. I'm sorry, but I need to establish a precedent since we are limited to 6 member parties. The first time through, everyone get's a chance to read the story and enjoy the experience. No rushing allowed. If a chain is too long for a single Friday Night, the same people will get precedence for finishing the event. Each FNF will be limited to a maximum of 2 x 90 Minute guest passes an evening based on VIP point availability.

These nights will have a start time established prior to the event. It will be more formal and organized like a TWL match. As such, everyone who signs up will be expected to be ready to go at the time of the event. * This includes health potions. Be sure to bring extra. It also means you'll need at least one person will need to get the quest series so they can share with the group. Volunteers will be solicited in the forum event post.

That's all I can think of at the moment, but if anyone has any suggestions, questions or comments, please add them to this thread.

    * On some FNF, I am running solo with the kiddo. I hope it will not cause problems, but I will try to plan accordingly.

I would gladly pay to do VIP as well, would that extend our time or our group size.

For the lower level, I think one VIP will cut it. Let's start out and see how it goes. If this works out, we will need one or two more at upper levels.

I don't believe it will increase our group size.

Have many people run out of stuff to do?

I'd be willing to pay for a month as well at some point.

I also read that you can buy individual "modules" as well. That may be a lower cost option as well.

My only concern with the FNF stuff is that I can rarely nail an exact time that I can start playing, so I'd give someone else preference over me.

Can you make a 10:15pm start time? Even if it was one FNF every several weeks?

From my calculations, it's cheaper to hand out 5 guess passes than it is for 5 people to buy premium modules.

Also, it's not about running out of stuff to do as much as it's about timing. Most of these are geared towards certain levels, so we have to take them when we can. From what I've read, some of the better content and loot are in the premium modules.

As far as Sarge's Suggestion, a look at what Favor Levels we all have and what the Favor we get per 'Adventure Pack' is something that should be considered. We get 25-50 free Points per 100 favor gained on the server. The adventure Packs are Account based. Essentially allowing for the lower level quest packs to pay for themselves if there is enough favor involved and repeat questing with alts on different servers.

As far as group size goes. I believe a number of quests are going to allow us to group more than 6 people if wanted, make RAID parties with up to 12? people.

Clarification - You are only going to have enough points for a few if you are planning on running all Fridays as VIP Fridays, from what I gather you are planning on 'Sponsoring' 2 individuals per night.

Atomm, Damn, I never even knew you played WOW!!!!!!

If the game continues I was going to do the VIP myself of course, it is only $3.75/week, hell that is two coffee's, this includes 500/month free Turbine Points. We can use this to purchase adventures. That was my entire reason, to get new adventures.

So I already had plans to do exactly what Atomm is proposing, but I agree with Sarge, did we run out of other stuff to do all of a sudden??? I mean there are a LOT of free adventures with no time limit yet to do. Are we at the VIP stage already????

I mean as a group we have not even touched on half the adventures yet and there is an entire new world waiting when we all get to higher levels. Doc and I are already in the 5-8 level range and most are or will soon be as well.

BTW here is a good link explaining the pricing. I still do not understand it all though. 🙂

I have to say though that I am unsure of the Guest passes.
"GUEST PASSES Grant a fellow player the opportunity to join the adventure with you for 90 minutes! 25-180 [points each]"

I mean 90 min is basically not enough time to do much. Time FLIES in this game!!!

I think if we all want to do FnF adventures, everyone in the group should be a VIP so we do not run into time constraints. Anyone else feel this way?

It is likely that I could make most anything after 10:00 EST. Is it guaranteed? Probably not.

It's not a matter of running out of things to do at this point. It's a matter of, if we skip now, we won't be able to go back and do them later. From what I've read, these quests are withheld from the free players because they are better overall. Read the reviews in the post I linked.

I was planning on sponsoring all 5 slots at the lower levels. I haven't found anything that says I can only sponsor two people. It comes down to the point costs. For example, the first proposed event is only 30 points per pass. I can spend 300 points and get 5 people 3 hours worth of questing. It's worth it to me.

If more people want to go VIP, that opens up points for someone else and I'm all for it. I just don't want to force anyone to go VIP who doesn't want or can not afford it.

Why can't we go back? Doc and I are already past the level 1-4 levels. Can we still play?
It only says "Recommended level range," does that mean you cannot play it at level 10?

How does that work exactly? Sorry I have a crap load to still learn here.

I would do VIP if it helps out but is it really worth the guest passes at only 90 min? Hell 8 hours goes by when we play and I hardly notice. If that level is 3 separate adventures then I doubt we would even get one in in 90 min.... Can you stack passes like you said? So can we give out 3+ hours of pass? If we have enough VIP's then we should be able to grant enough people enough slots to play for FnF.

Does anyone know if we go VIP and decide to go back to free is that possible? I guess you would lose any special characters or races but I don't have those anyway...

Also it looks like free players can spend some of the free money they get in game and purchase the adventure. I assume no time limit if you purchase it. It seems to cost 250 points. I think I have that now. If you wanted to simply buy it it would costs $3.91 under the 400 points purchase plan.

Thanks Bubba, I did find that.
Here is a forum link tot he same w/discussion.

I am now a VIP player. I can always downgrade it seems. I also found the FAQ! 🙂

Isn't this what we all bitched about in the past? A pay/month game? How times have changed 🙂

And it was hard to get everyone to pay $10 one time for a BF2 expansion pack 🙂

I hope we all play this for awhile 🙂

Here is my thinking. I am enjoying this game, therefore I am willing to pay for it. There are less bugs in this game now than there still are in BF2 which is what 22 years old? I didn't want to pay for new maps when EA hadn't fixed the bugs and maps released with the game.

We should still be able to play the levels they will just seem to be a tad bit easier [easy mode] the higher the level we are in comparison to the quests themselves. Also at a certain point you don't get experience because you are too much on the easy mode.

One thing to note, the quest level typically increases with the difficulty level selected. A level 1 Quest on Normal can read a Level 3 Quest on Elite.

From what I gather Atomm was trying to get through the normal mode solo that way the Hard Mode+ could be completed. -sweetness-

    Solo, yea right..... 😛
