Home Entertainment Group announced today the acquisition of Turbine, Inc., the largest privately-held online gaming studio in North America, further strengthening Warner Bros.â position as one of the industryâs fastest growing, full-scale games publishers.

So from what I gather - WB has all rights to Lord of the Rings except online gaming, by buying Turbine then now have exclusive rights to LOtR and DDO and Ashrons Call (another Turbine game) just happen to come with the deal.
WB is owned by Time Warner - who also did a stellar job with AOL after its accusation.
