It appears to be a new standard mesh that is the culprit. I loaded the shadowing thing on a powerhouse pc here at work to test shadow generation on it. well to make a long story short, i installed it after the 1.1 pach on V it copies the standard mesh over in it's process and now BC42 crashes on the vietnam mod just like BCV.
I've been steadily watching and waiting for that hotfix. My BCV will actually load up and let me make a new map. Opening any existing one will crash it, even if I make a new one and save it. Weird huh? BC1942 never even loads up. It's poo and it's dirty, but the way I think of it is actually good. I'm hoping they go farther than just telling us what 3 lines to edit and straight out release BCV 2.1
Are any others totally freaking out with excitement about putting in that ground fog from Con Thien? Or the high-rising billow smoke from the stationary M60 emplacement? yeah, me neither.
Anybody think the stationary M60 is just a stupid broken Chinook? Yeah, me neither on that too.
Con Thein is interesting, the DMZ part of the map with all the craters looks really pro, and it's nice, but it's waaaaay too big for competition and the rest of the map looks like any decent mapper could have done it. No real new ideas brought to the table there.
Hell, Doing The Village is about the most fun map I've played so far, wish they would make em like that.
I am hoping that when EOD ports to BFV they bring the maps with them. They have some absolutely intense ground combat maps that I had a load of fun playing until BFV came out. Then 99% of the EOD servers disappeared....
Doing the Village is a fun map - I think a transport helo for the US would make it more interesting, but otherwise it is a cool map.
