I thinks this will make many ATI people happy!

That reminds me. ATI released the 6.3 drivers yesterday if you want them.

Only real problem I've seen so far (apart from crappy servers), is the unlock issue. i.e. unlocks not being available upon joining the game. A simple disconnect and reconnect fixes this. Hopefully most of you won't see it. Personally, I've seen it 5 times this evening. So unfortunately, you likely will.

The real downside to this is the time it takes to load into the servers. As I recall from the OKGG LAN, what's 30 seconds for me is 7+ minutes for others. One glitch in the unlocks and it's 15+ minutes. Which can be the entire match.

    Wow! 15+ minutes would suck......

FYI, I don't know how this will affect our own server. I have yet to see how the patches are applied. Also, it could affect the push server.

Ummm I think you are a bit off man. I have NEVER seen anything take 7 Min to load up. Even when optimizing shaders and that may be close.

No offense as I think your new system rocks but a 64 bit platform does not speed you up 30 seconds from 7 Min. You are faster but not even double most likely. 64 bits is great, more is always better, but it just not 14 times faster! I get into games within a min usually, 2 tops.

I also think the unlocks glitch is server related somehow. I only had that happen on that one server out of the 2 or 3 we tried yesterday. I also only ever had that happen a few times at all since playing BF2.

New System, when did this rumor start? I've been running this system for a year and a half now, and built it with right @ $1000. *shrug* As for the 5-7 minutes (Note that the figure includes the time it takes to "Verify Client Data"), That was Atomm playing from his laptop. 7 might have been a bit off, but as Atomm can attest, there were a few times the round was over by the time he loaded in. As for myself, When the Game first came out, this same system ran about 3 minutes with optimizing shaders. So, I wouldn't say it was the 64 bit that sped me up so much (as I could barely play UT2K4 on the system I had before this one). It's a lot more contingent upon where I have my drivers and programs on my drive than it is the processor. I reload a lot to insure this. It is an addiction. I do not deny this. 😉

    Thanks for the link Doc!

As far as loading goes, I am getting in a little faster with 2gigs ram, but I'm still limited to my DSL, so that is some of the holdup. I don't care about the unlocks all that much, and I still have a couple to decide on 🙂

I'm wondering if we patched up 'too quick' though. Find out tonite.

Yea. It was taking 5+ minutes for me to load the maps from the laptop. Only 512MB of memory at the time and a 5400RPM Hard Drive was the problem. I upped it to 1GB and things improved greatly.

As for system making the difference in loading, I believe it can be done through a combination of the right things. IE, Proper Swap, Mutiple Drives set up for peak application effeciency, Good ram, etc. Just ask Raze. His new system is a monster and he gets in 1-3 almost every single time since building it. That could be what your thinking of Paladin....

15-25 seconds to load a map depending on the size. 3G Ram 512 Video.

anyone load the patch yet? Any word on if it breaks anything?
