I have the full server downloaded. It is not installed yet, but I will work on it tomorrow. The demo server will be up until Monday, then I will switch to the real deal.

At least they put it out early this time around.

suhweeet. Let's come up with a catchy name.
  3. #3
    What?

    GamersRadio.com |GRB| isn't catchy enough? BLASPHEMY!
  4. #4
    Of course GamersRadio.com |GRB| is catchy 🙂

Given our recent delving into the 80's in the music threads, I was thinking that "GamersRadio.com's Bitchin Camaro" would be a good server name.
  5. #5
As long as it has GamersRadio.com in the name. Believe it or not, it helps our Google Rankings. :-)
  6. #6
you sir are a google whore 😛
  7. #7
Damn Straight! Google brings us a lot of traffic. If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't be the great site we are.... :-)

Ok, we would be great, but no one else would know it. 😛
  8. #8
    he he.

how 'bout "GamersRadio.com - Now With More Cowbell!" maybe that's too long.

I also saw that you can add a graphic to the load page with the "server sponser" on it.
  10. #10
Yea, Raze was working I that. I think it was going to have the skull and text. I'll leave it up to his genius....
  11. #11
Do you think we would be able to set up a stats section on the website like we used to have for 42? I loved working my way up the ladder amongst people I was playing with all the time.
  12. #12
I am not sure about that. With the way EA is doing the ranking system, I have a feeling they may have left stuff out of the public release. In the end, it will be up to some creative coder to figure out how to do it.

Keep an eye out. If it exists, I will figure out how to integrate it.

You were going to get me the specs for those images. filesize, resolution.
  14. #14
here's a cheezy first try... there are 2 image locations and they appear different in size. need the other. I think this is the sponsor image size. The other appears bigger.

From Punkbuster - Does this apply to our server, the Linux part anyway?

Version 1.115 of the PB Server for BF2 has been released to our PB Master Servers for auto-update and to our website download page. This is a maintenance release.

We have updated the BF2 download page to include links to PB server binaries for Linux 64 bit platforms. PunkBuster for Linux 64 bit currently does not auto-update to the latest version. Until a future version is released with auto-update capability, Linux 64 admins who wish to run the latest version of PunkBuster can manually download the necessary files from our Download page.

PB yes, 64 bit, no. Thanks for looking out for us.

    BTW, I have Raze's image linked. :-)

Ummm is there any reason why I keep geting dosconed from the GRB server after 5 minutes? Sagz from OKGG has the same problem? I can connect to other servers fine....?

    Anyone else?
  18. #18
Are you getting any sort of error?

I need to track down any issues like this.
  19. #19
    Nope, here is the problem:

    [url=http://www.forumplanet.com/planetbattlefield/topic.asp?fid=13269&tid=1679392]Linux Server Error

I run multiple linux server (Gentoo/Redhat), and whenever a map ends, or the round ends, everyone connected crashs to desktop. Furthermore, if the game starts, and people leave, leaving 1 person left in the server, the map ends, and their game crashs.

This is a HUGE issue, and no matter what I tweak, it does not go away. I spend 3 hours testing on multiple servers last night with the same final result. I've moved my server back to the demo server, as this does not happen here (not sure why it would happen in retail, but not the demo)..

This happends regardless of map size, and this happends regardless of the map you play. I'm sure some servers do not do this, or more people would complain. Perhaps it's an issue with Linux servers only... Have any of you seen this problem? If not, what is your configuration, what flavor are you running, and where did you get your binaries?

If someone had this and figured out a workaround/fix, please let us know.

Found this on PBF as well. Maybe it will help:

    1. In maplist.con - remove the 16 [or 32 or 64] after each Maplist entry in the maplist.con file.

There is speculation that the reason Linux servers are crashing or causing clients to crash to desktop during map change is because of some problem with parsing of the maplist.con file when the mapsize is set.

So if your lines in maplist.con look like:

    maplist.append fushe_pass gpm_cq 64

AND you are experiencing server crashes on map change or clients crashing to desktop on map change

THEN change the lines to look like:

    maplist.append fushe_pass gpm_cq

The # at the end tells it whether to run the small (16-player), medium (32-player) or large (64-player) maps.

The demo ran all 32-player maps (even on 64-player servers, at least by default. On the retail servers you can specify which maps you want - for instance, if you wanted to run a 64-player server but run 16-player maps on it, you could do that.... but on linux it may cause problems....just an FYI.

From the Lightcubed forums. Looks like EA is working on it.....Andres is from DICE I believe.

I just reproduced the bug here!

I have been trying all day with the installer we have here, and failed
to get it. But then I tried downloading it from
    ftp://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/misc/bf2-...2.0-installer.z
    ip.
I got it right away!!!!! Must be some difference with the one released
and the one I have here.... I'll have it fixed as soon as I can!

    Sorry about this,

And thanks for all your help!

    /Andreas

Awesome! Hope it is as simple as a wrong version got released!
  23. #23
Can someone get me a pointed stick and a map to EA??
  24. #24
  25. #25

That arrow points to sarges office, I am off with my pointed stick!! ;-)
  26. #26
Ackk! I have nothing to do with EA Bubba! Let me surf in peace 😉
  27. #27
OMG Duck! You drew Bubba a picture! That was too funny......

Thanks for all the research guys. I've been really busy at work lately. As soon as a fix is released, I will get it running. In the meantime, I will drop the map size. Let me know if that helps Brules.

FYI, I subscribed to the server developers email list. I should be able to see what is going on. I have already received one error specific to the linux server. I'll watch it to see what's going on.
  28. #28
I dunno, It wouldn't let me on your server last night, so I found another that was all laggy to hell and full of n00bs. 🙂
  29. #29
Jump on TS with us Brules. We have out there so we can coordinate which server to get into.

We tested our server. No go. From the list, I found out DICE has patched the server and it is at EA QA. Once they approve it, I'll get it updated.
