I can't get the page to load and neither can some others at PBF.

Assuming that this does work eventually, I will probably reserve my name even with no concrete plan to purchase the game. I wouldn't want any of my many fans to take my name 😄

I am still not buying the game. They can give me the "Super Uber Leet Champion of Death and Mayhem Medal" and I still ain't buying this next piece of crap....

The link is good apparently, just overwhelmed or pure crap. I can't get the damn thing to load and neither can at least 1/2 of the commenters at PBF. Those that do get in are just as likely to have errors trying to secure their name. Common comment from those leaving them at PBF:

Sarge, I wouldn't sweat it. We are screwed anyway. You see, | was a valid character when BF2 was released, but with one of the patches, it became an Invalid character. I got in on that site, and it said welcome back soldier, but it will not let me take |GRB|Atomm for BF2142 because it is an invalid character. So basicly, we are screwed.

I tried just Atomm, but someone else registered that name a long time ago, then never played the account. Guess I have to wait until the game is released. Bastards.

Do not use | in your name guys. You can add that later on as a prefix. Just like BF2. Never put tags in the actual name. Well you can but do not really have to is all I am saying.

Let us take you back to the first week of BF2's release. You see, in order to use a clan tag, you had to actually make it part of your name. It wasn't until several patches later, did they add the ability to make a name and then have a seperate clan tag. It was at that point that | became an invalid character.

Those of us that were true to GRB, put it in our name. It's not our fault EA changed the rules.

I'll wait until release and try to reserve Atomm. If that doesn't work, I'll figure something else out. Fing EA.

I would love to reserve Atomm. However, if you search BF2S, you will see the name Atomm is a Private and has not been played in forever. I should have reserved that name early on, but there was a lot of confusion on how to have more than one account back then. Once I actually figured it out, the name was gone.

So, I'll wait until the game is released and hope I get it. That's all I can do at this time.

Yah I could re-start |GRB|Duck but like Atomm said the "|" (the key above ENTER) is not valid character so I was actually IGRBIDuck the capitol letter I was displayed as | in BF2
It's still active but the last time I played it was December 13 2005

And my Second BF2 Account (Like Sarge was saying) was EABF2SucksAss But got booted from a lot of servers for the color name deal.

So account number 3 I went with M730A2 (My Air Defence system in the Army) Too bad Duck is not available.


But like the rest of you have said already. This is turning to shit. Taunts, Rank ups before you buy the game. What's next yearbooks and a prom?

I think what galls me the most is that I could have put the most offensive name that I could think of that is less than 15 characters and it would have had no problems. God forbid I use an @ though 😡

Does anyone actually listen to/hear the taunts? Couldn't you taunt guys in BF42 or BFV some? I don't recall that I ever actually used them or had anyone use them on me though....

I guess the idea is to replace substance with eye/ear candy with the idea that we won't notice how much the game sucks if we can taunt someone that we pwned.

Sorry for the negativity, but the "Veterans Program" experience has left me a bitter, hollow shell of a man who is questioning EA's commitment to my future well-being.

1942 had requests and availabilities "engineer on duty" "arty ready to fire" "need target"
BFV had some kind of taunt if I recall F6 Alarms then F1 Taunt but it was for your own people, akin to BF2 commander "good work squad" or "try listening to my orders next time "

Atomm I think you are misunderstanding. With the above link, it allows you to reserve a NEW name for BF2142 NOW! So jump in and get Atomm ASAP! As I said I will be Paladin there instead of 1_paladin like I am now. You use your current name and EA act to verify you are a veteran but you can change or reserve a new name. You do NOT have to wait until it comes out at all.

With the promotion I will get from the start, because of the current veteran benefits, and if I purchase the deluxe package that gives an extra promotion, I should start off okay. 😉 You can use both. 😉

For some damn reason under any of my BF2 accounts I can not get my present player name to register.

Ummmm okay..... Man you guys are really going downhill.. I also get frustrated with EA etc.. but still would like to be an adult and play a game and have fun without all the BS. This is already getting everyone pissed off and miserable it seems.

I think one problem with a lot of you guys, including Bubba, is you play almost every night. I see a bunch of you guys in TS most nights. DocJon has told me many times now that he is totally frustrated with BF2 and was not going to play for a few days. Then there he is playing again the next night…

Having fun is cool but if it gets old and frustrating by playing every night that is not good. Then you are sick of it and come Friday night, everyone is done by 12:30AM. That makes me feel good as Fri and Sat is the main night I can play late or at all. You just cannot have fun on Fridays when you just did the same old thing all week long. It is not a fun night it is the same old same old.

I am not trying to sound harsh I just notice this and have tried to tell you guys this before. Everyone just does there own thing which is fine but the last 2 or 3 FnF’s have kind of sucked because of burn out

Guys you should not play EVERY night!! I get tired of it when I did that! This is one reason the UT Thursday night was fun as it was something different. There should be no BF2 the night before the FnF’s *IF* you played all week as well. Take 2 or 3 nights and keep away from gaming.

They have some WWII ducks that you ride in on a tour of Pittsburgh that go into the river as part of it.

Paladin, why not monitor Xfire and try to play in the midweek sometimes? An hour or two here and there. Can always put off TV till later. If you get annoyed, just signout. Its not like pubbing, and someone usually seems to be around most nights, although last nite it was really thin.

If I can get in a couple of weekdays, sure helps me with FNF not coming in so cold and all.

I think I should clarify. I am not burnt out on BF2 and while the game has certain things that bother me, I generally find it enjoyable and fun to play - well, except last night when Doc and I got asswhupped up and down both sides of three different maps. My frustration is purely with EA/DICE and how they do things. I consider bitching about bunnies, arti, jets and snipers (I f*ckin' hate snipers) as part of the game commentary and flavor but don't really worry too much about it overall.

I went to sign up for the Veterans Program because I like my game name and I wanted to have it the same as it is now should I get BF2142. They have denied me that and I am a bitter about it. If I do buy 2142 will I use my exciting new name? Probably not, as it doesn't reflect well on |GRB|. It did give me a way to vent last night and did make me feel better 😀

I will say this definitively - I will not be buying BF2142 when it comes out unless it comes out at Christmas time and then the no turns to a maybe. I have used my allotment of funds (and spousal good will) for buying games for this year. I am also concerned that I am going to have a hardware deficiency with the new round of games coming out, so I may need to make some upgrades - which I am also not looking forward to spending the money on. 😒

She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed (snicker - I'd be a dead man if that one got out....LOL) is cool with me getting it... *gasp*

Might even get the green light to pre-order.

My problem is they make a damn good game that I am addicted to. They are Crack dealers and I cannot stop!!!! No matter how they mess my crack up I still want it.... 😉

See I am much like Sarge, just things get to me too much. EA ticks me off, but well I have enjoyed the games, albiet less and less with each release. 2142 doesn't appeal to me. Maybe the crack addict inside will make me buy it, maybe not. Between EA and lack of interest, I am honestly not sure.

As for Friday nights, you have to understand Paladin, I play when I can. I like playing with my buds so I show up nearly every Fri. When I leave early it's not because I am bunt out on the game, most likely it's because I am tired, or want to spend time with my wife. I am sure many of you are like me, I spend 8 hours a day drawing maps on a screen, some Fridays it's nearly unbearable to look at a screen. I put in as long as I can until I feel too wiggly to sit, or too tired.... etc. It almost is never me leaving in frustration, although I will often put off leaving until we are getting pooned or we hit a map that I hate.

I don't enjoy playing with plane whores, I mean really if I want to beat my head against a wall senslessly, I can think of 4,000 other ways to accomplish that without a computer involved.

All the above said, I will try to enjoy Fri's more, but that may require playing some mods. Some of the est times are screwing off in mods. At least with the mods the people aren't being point whores.

Never meant my posts to sound mad or personal with anyone. I think we have a great bunch of people here and I enjoy playing with everyone a lot. Actually I think that is the reason I worry so much.

I just worry everyone will get sick of the game and leave. It is my own insecurity kicking in 😉
That and I am so very lonely.... I need a hug....
