Well after 10 or so hours playing I like it. I know a lot of people don't, so I say "Tough titty says the kitty when the milk tastes shitty!" I like the fact that if you have a good commander and squads that follow orders you can squash the opposing team. I've found that most people who join squads are open to the idea of taking orders. On one server I was suprisingly able to play commander for each side and destroyed the opposite side each time. It was a blast!
As compaired to BF42 and BFV yeah it's alot different, and this is where people seem to be bitching. If the game feels slower than the previous, your on the wrong server! For whatever reason this game runs really good, even when I have a supposedly unsupported card, ATI9000. 64/64 games run great on my aging machine and have lots of action when the commanders can lead their teams!
The fact that you die easier here I think is more reallistic and I like that you have to actually play more than run and gun, which by the way was my main strat for both the earlier versions. (Proven by my KTD ratio).
I've barely scratched the surface of the things I like about this game and I could probably keep rambling but I'll stop here. There is just so much more to do in this version! Can't wait for the retail version and new maps!

Screw it man, this is your soap box, ramble on.
Good to read why you like it..... Hell I just want to play it.

Get this.. My PD at the station has this really nice Gateway Laptop.. and the card he has in it.. is only a 64MB 5200 I am fairly sure.. and it runs the game with just a slight bit of lag when entering a vehicle.. other then that looked decent enough!

I still haven't decided, I waffle back and forth. I played POE again last night and it felt like a pair of stretchy pants after a big dinner. I dunno, looks like I'm in Duck's boat too......

Don't worry Atomm, I got your $ coming too, I just have to pay more than min on my credit card I maxed out moving out here. Thats why I keep hoping you'll take the hint and ket me mail you cash 🙂

LOL, I have a nvidia 64mb 5200 on my test machine at work. It runs good on it. Then to get home and run it on my 6800.... <drool....> There is such a difference.

Myself I never cared much for BFV, and short of DC in BF42, it wasn't much my flavor. But I'm enjoying this. Definately made it to the list of games That I will have brought on day of release. Been The Starcraft Broodwar expansion since I game stuck with me from it's onset the way this one has.

How has your experience been with the in game VOIP?
After a few adjustment it has worked very well for me. Crystal clear! I like that you can only communicate with your squad, no one else in the background to get confused with. Then the direct commander channel. I don't recall if you have to be squad leader to communicate with the Commander but I know you need to be in a squad to use the voip.

Squads rule. Period. I got in on a game last night and the commander was runing the squads to cap flags, we kicked the ever living hell out of the other team by the simple fact we were all squaded up and doing what we were told.....was AWESOME!

Let me get this straight. You live in California. Gas is 10 times the price of water and you bought a truck?

    Right on! K3w1 d00d!

I'm in constructioon, it's a prerequisite that I drive a truck. Just filled it up for the first time Friday morning, $51.50 and that was mid-grade.

I was giving you shit EJ. Congratulations. It's always cool getting a new vehicle. As for higher octane gas, don't waste your money. My wife's car specificially calls for Super and we started putting regular unleaded in it lately. All the research we found said it was crap on 99.9 percent of the vehicles out there to use anything but Regular Unleaded. So far, no knocking, no noticable power loss.

Nice truck EJ. I need to get a truck one of these days. However, I don't envy your gas bills, especially in California between the cost of gas and the fact that you have to drive huge distances between places.

Thank you, thank you. Now if I could only learn how to park it.
  19. #19
Heh! I learned to Drive in a 78 Ford Bronco. I've had trucks until recently. Driving a car is a change of pace for me.

Like all the other kalifornie' ass holes that migrate up here to E-Dah-How, any damn way you fell like it, but the right way.

Always get a laugh with the bullies in the Suburbans and the Avalanches, driving big and not giving room for other drivers, then I come blasting ass down the road in my heap.
1975 Chevy K20 which has 2 bad glass packs, (bad as in rotten and falling off) it belches blue smoke and even more un-burned oil out the side pipes.

She's got a 2 1/2" thick by 70" wide raggedy assed' wood front bumper and a mace ball for a trailer hitch. 6" lift and baby ass smooth 35" mudder racing slicks. Not one of the tires matches the rest....

Nobody stands in heaps path on purpose. The steering gear is so warn that it wanders the lane stripe to stripe. LOL, she almost ate a mini-cooper last fall, I never saw the little bastard till he started honking and swerved to the left just in time for me to catch her in the bottom of my mirror in the inside break down lane.
So I blasted he with burnt oil for trying to pass in a turning lane.
She told me I was #1 in that special way.

Somehow that is just how I imagined you 😉 You probably don't carry any guns in your heap or anything now do you? That was the only discrepency from my imagination 😉

OMG, We've found Brules's long lost hick brother. Sounds like you guys have had your hands full with Duck, not sure how you are going to handle 2 of them...

In my image of you, having a gun in your heap fit, that's all. 🙂

    Pre-bumper mod....
Just to the left of the front passenger side of the hood, you can see the roof line of our 2000 Taurus at head light level, for reference.

Bought her 3 years ago as a basket case (I know still is) but it runs great now, after a full year of putting the seals back in and general maintenance for 30 years of farm duty. Can't complain I bought it for $200.00

Does Banjo music play in the background as your driving too? That was in the back of my imagination reading that.. lol

Back on the subject of BF2 😛

Seems like the Commander also has a different method of scoring making it extremely difficult to offbalance any TK's you may incur.. this should be interesting..

I did come up with a rather nasty combo however if done properly that allowed the MEC to win 😉 Using the MEC SU Bomber.. and as Commander of my team after pushing the Allies out to their carrier.. Set up Arty to fire on the backdeck of the Carrier.. As it fired.. I came around setting up my pass... shortly after it finished.. I swept through.. bombed them... returned to ammo up.. Arty was ready short time after.. placed it again.. bombed afterwards.. It was a fairly wicked and handy cycle in surpressing them.. The Afterburner is a great help to getting out fast and avoiding the lockons..

Also I recommend if playing Commander and you want to be somewhat in the action.. the best Class to play is Special Ops.. Perhaps on an organized team where everyone follows a certain directive it would be different but.. with all the attention you have to direct towards your team and the flow of battle.. An effective side route the Commander can take is to handicap the other Commander.. (i.e. taking out their SCAN..UAV..ARTY) And since most don't ever call for supply drops or need them.. You can drop one on the enemy position.. reload yourself so you can take out evey piece of Commander's equipment.. as well as using it to repair your own.. (I'm finding that since using the supply drops to do so others are picking up on this trick heh..) With Special Ops your not normally on the front lines as it is.. so it works rather well and in my opinion.. more an asset then going Sniper

Remember to always SCAN first.. then place the UAV not directly over a flag but offset it towards where the enemy will likely move to.. giving your troops a betterheads up.. make them ost of that radius.. I believe you also score points from these placements as well if someone requests the action.

Just got an email from Gamestop. My copy of BF2 shipped and is scheduled to arrive on Thursday! With any luck I may have it tomorrow 🙂
