BF2 Commander position
-
#1 -
#2 That is a pretty good basic description. I have decided I don't like playing commander because I can't do that and be "in the fight".
Another tweak that should be made is to somehow balance things better when one team has a commander and another doesn't. Last night we got our asses handed to us several times because the other side had a commander and we didn't. Granted, I didn't step up to be commander either, but we were just getting pasted, especially when we were down to a single flag. THe other team would just sit outside of the flag radius and whale on us while constantly scanning to see where we were. -
#3 Granted I still play the demo....
But I like the commander posit.
Especially when I get on a server that the squads listen to the commander, and I supply and call the enemy.
Your right if all works, the team work aspect is great (and deadly) in this game. -
#4 Definately a decent commander and a decent squad can wreak havoc on the other team unless they are equally organized. Although often those two organized squads will end up playing flag tag and chase each other around the map because defense is still not highly regarded in this game. -
#5 Defense is HUGE in any game like these.
Joe and I (sometimes a few others) could spend a whole game holding one key flag.
May not be as sexy as the front line stuff, but it gives the team a base and the enemy a thorn.
Hold it:They will come. -
#6 I actually enjoy playing Defense. Very little was more satisfying to me in BF42 and BFV than locking down a flag and repelling all those who would take it. Especially in BF42 CTF. -
#7 We played a map a few weeks ago where our whole squad defended the flag closest to the enemy. There were several GRB's. We held that thing almost the whole map and it made a difference.
However, we tried the same thing last night and because the rest of our team was unorganized, we wound up being the last flag left because they went around us after the initial push.
I really wish we could get more GRB's playing. I would love to have one of us as commander and two squads. One on the ground and one in a helo. That would be awesome! -
#8 Soon Atomm....soon -

In that one map, Sarge was the last guy and he capped a flag to keep the round alive, then a little while later I was one of the last 2 or so and capped our last flag to keep us able to spawn. We work good as a squad. We did get top squad each game I played last night. And that was just the three of us. -
#10 4 don't forget EJ was there too, although he was playing naked (w/o clan tags) and he was on the other side for quite a while. -
#11 although he was playing naked
That's just wrong. I must now wash my brain ooout. -
#12 hahah yeah i remembered EJ, but didn't count myself in those complex calculations. -

hmmm no wonder I can't fly very well when I plug in my "joystick", I didn't realize the playing naked=bad rule.
😄 -

I'm glad someone finally filled me in on what you yahoos were doing last night. I kept on checking my map and wondering why you guys kept on squatting on a flag. I hope they resolve this issue of editing names soon, the only way i've seen so far without any negative results is through GameSpy and I absolutely refuse to load that garbage on to my system. Always remember, the letters GRB are there in spirit though. 😛 -
#15 Have found that when you need medals for the classes choose the class (sniper)
Become commander
Arty the prerequisite number of enemy to get the medal
Snipe one person
Get medal.
Picked up all the medals doing it that way, thanks to the 1.03 patch it has made spoofing the awards MUCH easyer. -

Remember, if you are the last person alive and you are not a squad leader, become one and get somewhere safe. That way you become the spawnoint. -
#17 Don't you need 2 spawn points in order to be able to spawn on a squad leader?? -
#18 Duck, for a guy that doesn't like this game, you sure seem to be playing a lot.
As for the awards, I really don't pay much attention. -
#19 I was playing on one of the ea servers and we did that once we lost all our flags? maybe it was a bug. -
#20 Duck, for a guy that doesn't like this game, you sure seem to be playing a lot.
:?: :?: Not sure if that was a joke or a flame. :?: :?:
I still think the game sucks ass Atomm, that will never change. The Rat Bastards have just made it easyer to use their patch against them for medals. The only reason I played yesterday was to prove that you could advance rapidly with little work. Show you (and others (you all know who  )) that it can be accomplished quickly.
I still play CoD UO exclusively.
But I figured I'd tell you about this one thing because it is not a true I like pie anything in your game files for.
And as much as you and anyone else may say the don't play for the points, that's just bull chit, that's what the game is all about.
Every one loves to hear that drum roll and see the new banner of what you earned. I happen to have found a way to get allot of them quickly.
Yesterday I received my combat support, sniper, supply, first aid, engineer and combat in a single sitting by using the Rhubarb pie rocks, while being commander. (LOL Side note, I actually played....and did not get kicked or banned... I must have been ill)
Pick a class.
Shell 6 players with out worry of TKing your team now (thanks for the "fix" Rat Bastards)
Run out on the map and kill one enemy.
Get the medal.
Suicide.
Pick another class, wash rinse repeat. -
#21 I sent this to Atomm, but I'll ask this of the rest of you also.
When I find things that WILL NOT cause a GUID or Hash key ban I post them.
I'm not trying to taunt any of you that take this game seriously, but should I just refrain from posting anything about BF2?
I try not to let my disdain for this (hack up hair ball) game shine, but it's hard to not screw with people when they make it so easy to do so.
I really do miss the "good ole' days" when we played WWII mods and actually had fun. Hopefully FH or BG42 will get off their ass and get us a good mod some day soon.
So I ask the question, want me to sit down and STFU on the back of the bus? -

I wish they would get something out as well. Do we need to fire up BF42 on the server for a night and play 'nilla or a mod? I'm sure many of the CAT guys would be up for that as well. I know that EoD just released a new version for BF42 that could be fun....
Duck, if you want to post stuff that will not lead to banning that is fine by me, although I wouldn't expect to get much of a response. My only concern on the exploit stuff (and I don't think it is a huge one) is that if we ever do get off our asses and play in TWL, then the finding that one player in a clan is hacking/exploiting can lead to a banning from competition for the entire clan. In other words if one person is hacking (even though they may not be part of the competition team) then the whole team could be. Like I said, I don't think that this is a big deal, but it is something to consider.
So after all that, you don't have to shut up, but you should go to the back of the bus - it shouldn't be a long walk 😉 -
#23 you don't have to shut up, but you should go to the back of the bus - it shouldn't be a long walk
LOL Short bus Hooooooo.
Bubba any room back there?
Roger on the one bad apple consideration. Will amend post to not reflect that you own a clan troll. -
#24 appreciated. Glad to see that you got the short bus reference. Was trying to make it subtle but not WTF? subtle. -
#25 Short bus, no I am on the special "smaller bus", of course you can ride with me Duck, Sarge never wants to ride with me. ;-) Don't worry I see Atomm and Raze on here from time to time, but they said not to tell Sarge!! -
#26 Our bike:

#27 Hey I saw a "Lamers" bus the other day and thought of GRB. Are we going to have a GRB Barbershop quartet?? -
#28 mmmm pie
